Bhutan, a small country in the Himalayas, has always been on the top of my travel bucket list. Finally I am visiting the Dragon Kingdom. I'll stay at Amankora, an Aman resort. Amankora has lodges in 5 locations in Bhutan. My plan is to stay at 4 of the 5 (Thimphu, Gangtey, Punakha, Paro).
The journey begins in Bangkok. After surviving the most dangerous approach to Paro Airport it's a 1.5 hours drive to Thimphu. Amankora Thimphu, opened in 2004, is elegantly designed by famed architect Kerry Hill. In a typical low-key style of Aman, it blends perfectly into the pine forest surrounding it.
