It is important for dancers to have good leg strength. Greater strength in leg creates speed and force, resulting in more powerful movement. Bharatanatyam involves extensive usage of Aramandi (a squat stance). A balance between strength and flexibility needs to be understood and encouraged among dancers to ensure that they are properly trained, to promote health and career longevity, which is the sole purpose of this video.
Here I am sharing my personal favourite - A squat routine which has helped me with my Aramandi and Nritta. I hope they are useful to you too.

I couldn't keep up with you entirely. I was able to do 5-7 repititions of each exercise. But it really improved my Araimandi. I am a newbie at Bharatnatyam. Thank you so much for sharing this. I'll incorporate this in my daily routine.👍👍❤️❤️❤️

Hello Pratibha didi , it was tough but it was working , though I am a 11 year old girl then also I thought it was amazing . You are so much flexible and you have so much of stamina . Realy you are nice .

Since a hyperextended knee is an injury, I would recommend that you get some help from a physiotherapist. But I could definitely make a video on knee strengthening exercises. Have noted down your suggestion. Thank you and please stay tuned.. :)

I am new to practicing Bharatnatyam from Bangladesh .. literally I'm having pain on my thigh while doing aramandi... I searched for how could i prepare my legs for foot work n found ur video. Am following this routine from last 1 month regularly... And it works wonder... Mam, honestly, this is just a video for you, but for me, I can say that this video has given me a new life... For I m dancing after 3 years. 3 long years of illness got me away from dancing. I was even not able to do tattadavu and nattadavu properly. Due to these routines, I m now slowly gaining flexibility and strength. Kudos to you! Lots and lots of love from Gujarat!❣️

Thanks Prathiba kini. These warm ups are so useful. But I see there are few more videos of yours for warm ups and exercises as well. I would like to know when I should do those exercises. Is there a plan for it?

Thanks! These are not warm up exercises. This is a strength routine. You need to do warm up and cool down before and after any physical activity like a workout/dance practice respectively. I suggest you do full body strengthening combined with cardio exercises with a rest day every 4/5 days. You could do stretching and yoga on your rest day. Or it's also ok to not do anything at all on a rest day. Try to attend my next strength and conditioning workshop for an elaborate plan :)
