On the auspicious occasion of Dusshera, it gives us immense pleasure to release Bhaje Vighnarajam, a composition by Swami Dayananda Saraswati. This song is a part of the exclusive music series by AIM for Seva in collaboration with IndianRaga.
In Indian Culture, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the remover of obstacles, education, and knowledge. He is also known for his love of music and dance. This soulful composition resonates with the AIM for Seva's mission to remove obstacles to education for thousands of children across rural India.
॥ भजे विघ्नराजम् ॥
(रागम् - हंसध्वनि, तालम् - आदि)
पल्लवी भजे विघ्नराजं विनायकम्
यजे फालचन्द्रं पदवाक्यप्रमेयम् (भजे विघ्नराजम्)
अनुपल्लवी अथर्वशीर्षादि-प्रतिपादितम्
सङ्कटनाशनं गणपतिं सदा (भजे विघ्नराजम्)
चरणम् वक्रतुण्डं महाकायम्
एकदन्तं गजाननम्
विकटं कृष्णपिङ्गाक्षम्
धूम्रवर्णं लम्बोदरम् (भजे विघ्नराजम्)
Bhaje Vighnarajam meaning:
I salute Vināyaka, the Lord of obstacles.
I worship him who has a moon on his forehead,
And is the one to be known through
The words of the mahāvākyas.
I always salute Vināyaka who
Is revealed by the Upaniṣads such as the Atharvaśīrṣa,
The one who is the leader of the gaṇas,
And who is the remover of all suffering.
I salute Vināyaka who
Has a curved trunk and a large body,
And the face of an elephant with only one tusk,
One looks amusing but is very intelligent,
The one who has dark-brown eyes and a big belly
And is of smoky reddish color.
