Beyond The Layers: Journey of a Thousand Choices
Спорт
“I was never supposed to be a hunter. I didn’t grow up exposed to it, nor did anyone in my family. But after years of getting my hands dirty peeling back the layers of nutrition, food systems, and ecosystem health, I arrived at its doorstep. Hunting had merged with my land ethic, and I now needed to figure out how to do it.
I went from not knowing what a seasonal vegetable was to being a market farmer, managing a 250-acre homestead and eventually learned how to restore large landscapes for wildlife habitat and wild food-I was alive, everything in me felt like I had found my path.” - Ambassador Lindsey Davis

Elk mole! Thats next level!
I think the way she put this, " I think the way in which, my generation inherited wild places is that we're separate from them." Is on of the best quotes I have ever heard. Because it's so true. our new generation needs to connect and live in the nature and be more of a steward to all of the land.

One of the best representations of the gravity of harvesting an elk! It is so much more than antlers and ego. Well done Sitka!

Lindsey represents the true values behind the hunt and chase- and all that comes with it. Thanks for the support Amory.
As a San Carlos Apache here in AZ I really enjoyed this video. Your connection you found with hunting and harvesting your own food is inspiring. This is what my people have been doing hundreds of years. It very cool to see you find your connection with what the creator has provided. Native Americans always have had this connection you understand, the importance and respect for the animal you harvest and share to eat with family and friends . What’s kinda sad is your more Apache than some of my own people who don’t even know or except who they really are and what we posses and fortunate to have as tribal people. Much respect to you. Thank you.

We couldn't agree more! Thanks for the kind words and support.
This little film is impressive in a lot of ways. Usual quality presentation but this lady has lived some life. Great experiences. Mixing up up what looks like a urban kind of “lefty” lifestyle but totally tapped into nature, hunting, the respect. The whole circle. Very cool.

What an great video I can relate to her story so much. I don’t live in an area where there is elk. Wish I did. But I do eat and breath and sleep whitetail archery hunting. It’s what feeds my entire family lean protein all year long. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. All of my time off revolves around archery hunting. And Sitka is what I wear in my endeavor
More videos like this please!
Doesn't get much better than that!
beautiful film that isn’t tied to hunting for sport. Great visuals and sound design Sitka!

Simply brilliant! In a time where so many are quick to dismiss hunting as cruel, barbaric, and inhumane, to them I say, you're missing the foundation of human connection to the landscape, wild places, and wildlife. These shared experiences bond humans, feed humans, and fund our nation's conservation efforts in perpetuity. To hunt and gather is to live the full human experience and forge visceral connections to the earth. When those moments are shared with others, they have deep meaning and intrinsic value. It's not about killing animals to eat. It's so much more. Food is powerful. Food is what keeps life alive. Bonding over food is a visceral connection to other people and it's as timeless as our existence. Wild food is even better. My idea of fast food is an impala, a pronghorn, or a rutting bull elk rounding up his cows. Food comes is many forms but when you have a personal one-on-one connection to it - from field to fork - you gain a level of deep reverence and respect unmatched by any other means of obtaining a meal. Stewardship depends on people reconnecting to the natural world. Well-done, Lindsey and SITKA Gear!
