@@MsJubjubbird you don’t have to ONLY do beam alone to be someone who’s specialty is beam! Many AA medalists had a signature event. Look at Svetlana Khorkina, she won 3 AA world titles and is still the undisputed queen of bars!!

I am the same… when I was a kid, I remember watching Shannon (all summer my friend and I were doing somersaults in the backyard pretending to be Shannon). When I grew up, Shawn’s beam routine in 2008 was another I always remembered. Don’t remember a lot of gymnast (because I only watched every four years) but those two names were ingrained in my memory and I watched the whole video just to see them specifically.

Shannon and Catalina Will be always my favs. Love them

I appreciate that you went the extra mile to include different footage of the same routine.

When I saw the picture I immediately knew it was Shannon Miller...her and Dominique Moceanu we're two of my favorites. Not a day goes by that I don't miss gymnastics or have the dreaded what if question.

Shawn is my favourite. Very sure on the beam.

Shannon Miller was graceful, controlled and innovative. She was a master on the beam

Quite unbelievable that nobody managed to win two gold medals on beam. And your compilation videos always intrigue me to delve deeper into the evolution of photography technology - especially the floaty motions through the lenses of early 2000s.

It really shows how tough the event is- 4 inches is not a lot of real estate to work on.

@@MsJubjubbird I definitely don’t disagree. It takes even more training, an adjustment to the methodology after the age of 18-19 to keep your body in that kind of stabile shape. Not impossible, but definitely more challenging.

But what exactly is being judged here if not medals? Artistry? Line? Form? Presentation? Exemplary demonstration of balance? How are the points calculated?

This list includes gymnasts who placed in the Top 8, so someone like Pavlova who had 2 4th place finishes but no individual medal finished higher than gymnasts with a single Bronze or Silver medal.

The British commentator tried to sell Lilia winning beam in 1996. She was always so negative towards Shannon while pretending to be nice.

I went OMG at the part where John goes "Shannon's dad video tapes his daughter...used those video tapes...." and I was like WTF? Call the FBI! Then I realised it was how you edited it.

Lysenko gets a full score with THOSE leaps?

Thanks for uploading ... but the switching between the same routine with Hernandez is almost schizoid. Why can't you just stay with the one routine? And the editing is choppy.

Agree with Shannon but def Yang Bo should be in the top 3 PERIOD. No one was quite the master as her. Position wise and control she is hard to beat when you look at it all.

Nastia Liukin the most graceful

I am at gymnastic efficient Edo and I can’t believe that she got a bronze medal by falling off the beam or holding onto the beam with her front. Flip, I mean shouldn’t have gotten the bronze. I don’t care how many points she has or what the difficulty is if you fall off the beam, you should not be able to getting metal at the Olympics

In 2016 it was a 0.5 point deduction only (now it’s 1 point), she used to score 15.6+ with her beam, while the rest would score a 15(If we exclude the top 2) at their very best, but they also didn’t perform 100%.

In that beam final, only the top 2 didn't have mistakes on their routine, the rest was a little bit SHAKY

I would more call this "people who are good at beam" than beam specialists. AA medalists at either worlds or the Olympics are not specialists Eremia is often overlooked in the history books but she was a great beam worker

Was enjoying the video until i saw Hernandez with 2 different riutines spliced into 1; costume change back and forth. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. Show one routine through, Channel

I wish I could upload only 1 routine, but the video was being blocked due to copyright. Do you really think I really wanted to mix 2 videos? The only way I found to still use a footage from the Olympics was by doing that.

Quiet enough to hear a pin drop .. when Nastia was up. Not 🚫 a single sound .. compared to the ither girls. Eerie .... ((I like her. Just weried. Be quiet, especially for Nastia))

Sane W. should be removed from this list. She is specialist in spins and NOTHING else.

A lot of great beam work here, but none as beautiful to watch as Nastia.
