Beware! These Foods Mimic Gluten! - Dr. Osborne's Zone
This week, we will discuss the concept of "gluten mimickers", which are foods and compounds that can mimic the action of gluten and make people sick. We'll explore six primary categories of gluten mimickers and highlight the potential cross-contamination issue with "pseudo grains" that resemble gluten.
We'll also discuss how corn, dairy, and coffee can mimic gluten and trigger inflammatory responses in the body. It's important to understand gluten mimickers for individuals on a gluten-free diet who may still experience persistent damage.
Make sure to join me at 6 PM Central on Tuesday for this deep dive!

Hey, doctor. I had lots of diarrhea problems after monsatano began tinkering with our food supply. I discovered this when I went to Germany for 2 weeks in 1993 and had ZERO gut problems even though I was eating normal German foods, especially their wonderful pastries. About three days after I got back from Germany, I was back to sick guts. Being a science teacher, I started researching the reason. Findings: Germany has a food and drink purity law since 300 years. Here in the USA, the grains are GMO, Roundup ready, bromated in the silos, bromated as dough conditioners. I eat organic and eat all the things you are warning against without issue. I was raised with our own cow’s products, home made butter, cottage cheese, cream, milk, etc. I use only kefir and other cultured milk products now as I am 77. German grandma took good care of me as a child. I went back to my heritage. I rode two horses unassisted on my 75th birthday. I take no meds. Normal blood pressure, too. I have ridden dressage horses since the age of 15. Why not look into the possibility that people become gluten sensitive because of the poisoning of our foods with substances that kill off our normal gut bacteria. THERE’s a novel idea. You are what you eat, especially if you eat a modern American diet of processed, GMO, Roundup ready pseudo-foods. Have a nice day.

Yup… I had no problems in Germany… lived there for three years. Then back to the US end of 1999 and by 2003 major diarrhea…. Until I gave up grains.. the USDA/FDA started permitting glyphosate as a dessicant on grains and legumes about 2000, therefore mature crops sprayed with glyphosate to kill the plant and therefore ripen the entire field at once… great for harvesting efficiency, Poisonous for us. Read Stephanie Seneff’s work on glyphosate toxicities…

@maricellipena954 Humans need fiber too. The carnivore diet is VERY risky. I've considered it then stopped following such people after hearing them say absolute garbage with no scientific data at all. It's about what they're deleting from their diet that works at first, but you DO need fiber, which comes in many non-grain forms.

Nailed it here. Found just about all of this true. Rice, corn oats etc. Gums, Carrageenan, Guar gum, Casein. Figured out instant coffee the hard way. A lot of these are added to food and drink as an emulsifier to make things blend together and make things, spices stick to things. My celiac friend has the worse issues with rice gluten. I been gluten free 20 years now.I avoid grains. Irish in my background. High celiac rates. I also avoid the fake grains. I just do better grain free. I do very well on diary, but my ancestors were dairy people. Given a choice I prefer unhomogenized milk because it tastes better. If I visit the states I buy organic. Ends up costing the same as regular milk in Canada. Lugumes causes me massive issues. Even one green bean and I blow up like a balloon. One peanut in some peanut free nuts. Massive blow up. I avoid any flavoured coffees. I have had issues trying them. A lot of artificial flavours contain gluten. Most people need to figure out for themselves what is safe and what isn't. Keep a diary at first. Seed oils also cause issues.

I have gluten ataxia and cross react with yeast and coffee. Yeast is VERY tricky - as anything that says "natural flavors" can have yeast in it. If it's a meat product, it usually does - but even the ground beef I was buying at the grocery store had natural flavor in it and was causing me to get dizzy (had no idea the ground beef had natural flavor in it until I looked at the back of the package). Also, artificial vanilla is now sometimes derived from yeast -- which has got me in the past as well, in a gluten free baked good.

Born in ‘52, gastric problems began in the 70s when I read Diet For A Small Planet and ate the prescribed diet; gave up tens of thousands of dollars trying to find out why grains, dairy, whole plant foods caused pain and days of bed rest. Quit searching for help in the 90s when a psychiatrist told me I wanted these side effects of healthy eating because there was a pay off in it for me. Government info and industrial funding had captured both colleges and medical schools. I’m happy more information is available now and old enough to grieve over the mistreatment and scoffing of healthcare providers who didn’t believe me. 40 years from now current nutritional and treatment scams will be revealed

I think the key here is going back to a whole foods diet. Simple eating and then perhaps reintroducing certain foods once your gut has healed. Gluten is bad for everyone, they just don’t know it yet. The change in grain years ago, which had a greater yield and was more hardy to disease, had a far higher gluten content. Sourdough bread techniques vastly reduce the gluten and so most people would do much better having sourdough bread products. Sugar and refined carbs offer little to no nutritional benefit so everybody would also be far better off cutting them out forever. This is hard but imagine being free of illness/disease. I’m sick of being sick!! :-(

Here, rice is divided into grades, distinguished by the integrity of the rice grains. Anti-cracking agents, preservatives, etc. are added to the rice when it is shelled. The soil here itself contains excess metals from the earth. In addition to the ancient earth itself, air pollution, and aflatoxin infection caused by improper preservation in island areas. Most of the problems with coffee and peanuts are aflatoxin, which has been confirmed to cause liver cancer based on medical experience here. This refers to the origin of Taiwan. Natural food is fragile and must be sprayed with many chemicals in multiple layers. This sentence is the foundation of food safety.

Yes, have to agree.....corn, rice and root or alternatives for grains cause the same inflammation (which appears on the scale as water weight) in my body. As does vinegar in food that is grain derived! This is from personal experience, after a well meaning doc had me eating raw oats daily to lower a few cholesterol points. Within a week my body was so inflammed I could hardly walk. And this from eating gluten free oats. Thank you Dr. Osborne! I can function without inflammation, at 52. Inflammation does scary things internally. Have experienced 2-3 weeks of loss of balance after eating inflammatory foods. This information is vital. Also, after the oats fiasco, went completely grain free and dropped about 18 lbs chronic inflammation/water retained weight. The scale is my buddy.

We cook a big batch on weekends and have them over the following week or 10 days. It really doesn't feel limiting, and it's saving my health. If you do this you will go through the keto flu which lasts for 7-10 days (see Dr. Ken Berry’s videos on the ketogenic diet). It’s truly miraculous!

@@drirene57I didn't get keto flu, but I don't consume a lot of fats. I eat some fatty meat, and whole milk, but not much butter or other added fats.

Did I miss something? Didn't hear you mention taking probiotics while taking antibiotics? To counter getting a yeast infection. My primary care Dr told me this years ago.

What is “meat glue”? How would it be listed on an ingredient list?

I don't know if you're responding to this video because I'm only 5 minutes in, but meat glue is an enzyme called transglutaminase. Enzymes always have some sort of action, and the action that this enzyme has is fusing proteins together.

What about butter, which has no protein????

Butter has protein. Ghee (clarified butter) has minimal protein, some can tolerate it and some don't.

@@crism7684 it still has a small amount of milk proteins, personally I can't tolerate even 1 teaspoon of butter. There are proteins even in foods with such a small amount that it isn't shown on the label because it's under 1g etc but can still dramatically affect some people (like me)
