Almost every sports store in my area sells fakes. I've even exposed the owners on Facebook for it, and the guy tried to convince me that Reebok was still making NFL jerseys.

I worked for the Canucks Store at Rogers Arena. I'm sure a portion of the proceeds go to the NHL in some way, and players get royalties if you buy their jerseys, but a lot of it goes in to the Canucks business and profits overall. $300 for a jersey doesn't go straight to Bettman via FedEx Express lol.

As mentioned by Shannon, for anyone buying on eBay, I recommend always buying from a seller who has an actual self-taken photo of the jersey, not a repurposed photo from a site like shop.nhl; sellers like that usually sell the fakes. Another tip: Not all, but some sellers who post photos of their jerseys on mannequins may do so to cover up the fake elements. If you're patient, you can find plenty of real Reeboks for $50-80 with a player name and #. The real Adidas jerseys will be listed on there at at least $120, I'd say.

I remember someone posted like 10 blackhawks jerseys on their websites advertising them as real with repurposed images and selling them for 60 dollars each and I was wondering how this guy can go to waste over 1000$ on jerseys and sell them for a fraction of that price

One thing I also hate is that some idiots will post worn out fakes online and say that they are on ice game used authentics for a lot more than the original price they bought them for just to get more money than what they payed. Total outrage

The hockeyjersey subreddit is also very good. Good deals are posted often and there's a legit check monthly thread that goes up.

Using your advice I've gotten 3 jerseys for 50$ each. Theres no reason to buy a fake.

Jedi Drew Its fairy easy to spot a fake jersey seller. Its also easy to find which fakers sell the best fakes. Anything from Anna King is gonna be worth the $38 bucks. I prefer fakes because you can go to the game. Drink, Eat be sloppy and if your jersey stains who cares it was a fake throw it out. Plus Their creating fake defunct jerseys now too.

It's unfortunate that's sellers like that exist, but they do so the best anyone can do is be very thorough in their shopping. Good video.

Accidentally bought a fake at value village once. Cost $13 and was incredibly difficult to spot as a fake, until I took it home and really put it under the microscope. The quality of it was oddly good, the fabric even felt better than the Reebok premier. Gave it to a friend who doesn’t care more than about that it looks nice, so overall not a bad purchase :p

But I was a victim on an alternate Adidas penguins jersey. I didn’t know the difference due to it actually looking really good. But I know now.

Thanks for this video. I agree that brand new, authentic Adidas jerseys are expensive. But as you said, you can buy a legitimate Reebok for the same price as a fake now. Obviously the quality is much better, it'll last longer and looks nicer. Honestly, you can find some older jerseys at thrift shops as well. Nothing wrong with a Starter or Pro Player, some of the nicest jersey designs were in the 90s!

I appreciate videos like this. I know that I wouldn't know a fake from a real. One of many reasons I don't buy jerseys. But, the main reason is the cost. Even the $29.99 sale cost of a few weeks ago is more than I can rationalize for a jersey. But, that's just me. If I had the money, I would. But, I don't, so, I don't. Still appreciate being informed of what to look for between real and fake.

The worst thing about the fake jerseys that are made in China are the player name and number on the back of the jerseys. They are huge compared to a real jersey from either Adidas or Reebok.

Only jerseys bought at the team store the money goes directly to that team any other place the money goes straight to the league and the money is split 31 ways

There is a store in a shopping mall near me that has hundreds of jerseys and they were all fake

This is a guy that I saw and called out right away on Twitter and everywhere I could. Everybody shouted out this guy on Insta and it was so clearly fake to someone who spends hours looking at jerseys. He posted a picture of a (temporarily) happy costumer with a Preds jersey and you could see the piano keys were messed up and the numbers were done wrong too.

I’ve been suckered to buying a Tyler Myers fake jersey but I’ve steered cleared of a Mike Green Capitals jersey because the side patch eagle looked like a chicken lol

My brother in law found a site a few years back that sold jerseys for $30 or so, for all sports. His and my sisters NFL jerseys look and felt legit, but the Coyotes jersey he got me was the wrong color and doesn't feel correct. We knew going in that they were fakes so I cannot complain, but it still bothers me.

Outta 140 jerseys I got I have one fake, I knew it was fake when I ordered mostly I just wanted to see what they are like, it took 7 or 8 weeks to get to me and was about 65 bucks when all said and done. So not worth it to me, when you can get a real one for the same price if you shop around. My best ones I got a Florida Panthers jersey at pro hockey life for 26 bucks and a Flames Hudler jersey for 24 bucks at source for sports after he was traded.

Easy way to spot Mighty Ducks fakes now that those have been popular wants again: The fakes don't have the breathable holes in them.

Yes there are noticeable differences between the counterfeit jerseys and the authentic NHL jerseys. I will admit that I buy both authentic and counterfeit jerseys. I use my counterfeit jerseys for pick up hockey. When you go to an NHL game there is a large number of counterfeit jerseys. The thing is that counterfeit jerseys are never going to disappear. So it really comes down to the consumers decision

I got a sweet 100th anniversary Habs Cammalleri jersey the green and red leafy one for 100 bucks at a hockey shop not far from the HHOF, he had hundreds of jerseys they all were about 100 bucks. Brought it to my local hockey shop which is legit and smart and they said the only thing that they could tell was that the sleeves weren't doubled or something like that. Other than that it was the best fake they had ever seen and I couldn't tell a bit of difference it was sweet. I picked up my Modano Red Wings jersey they made for me when I got home, and was as disappointed on how much I had to pay for that as Modano would be with that season 😂

Rise Ducks fans! My #1 team is Vegas but the ducks are my dearest 2nd and my only disappointment was how we got rid of the mighty ducks logo and the original jerseys. And I was praying literally that for our their jerseys and for the 25th anniversary they did but I was like I doubt it even though fans are always reppin that logo. And they did... They really did and I love the twist they gave it but still keeping the main thing there and it looks so gorgeous in an addidas. The only jersey I'd buy before a Vegas. Hopefully it's here to stay because I live close to Anaheim and I can say that these are gonna sell!!

Bouncer 308 Why care? Your odds are your not gonna find a legit one by this time. Ive found plenty of knock off defunct teams online. Some teams that didnt even sell jerseys they were that old.

I just bought two Reebok jerseys from NHL.com for around $50 USD and two more Reebok jerseys from full moon again for around $50 a couple days ago. If you don't want to pay full price listen to Shannon and wait.

Also another idea is to go for older jerseys..... go after the Starter's, Pro Player's, CCM's & Koho's of the 00's. You can find some steals if you look. I've bought myself 2 Pro Player sweaters in the last 4 months.... spent a combined total of 78 bucks I think?

Won't have to wait to long. The addias jerseys have only been out a year, in 3 or 4 years and the jerseys will get much cheaper.

I really like my fanatics jerseys I have 2 and 5 new Adidas. The fanatics are great because the numbers and logos don't fold.

If you think not purchasing counterfeit jerseys does absolutely anything to organized crime cash flow, you are sorely mistaken. Maybe youre helping them launder it, but they're making the money either way, likely from much worse ventures than knockoff jerseys if that were to dry up. And frankly, if there were any real evidence proving that the funds were funding organized criminal activities, you would be seeing sting operations on the sellers and attempts to work up the chain with RICO cases. That isn't happening. And there are some people who legitimately don't care where the money goes as long as the player isn't getting a cent from them. "It's been shown counterfeit items support organized crime in some instances". It's also been proven that legitimate businesses launder money for organized crime in some instances. I don't see a real point here unless there is actual evidence supporting specific instances of these claims.
