After Eddie Murphy started doing more family-friendly movies in the late-90s, we used to say that 1980s Eddie Murphy would have completely picked on 1990s Eddie Murphy in his standup routines. The Serge character with the funny accent is actor Bronson Pinchot. His few scenes were so popular they wrote an American TV comedy based on him but with a whole different name and backstory. It was called 'Perfect Strangers'.
You can tell that Bogomil was warming to Axel in the Supercop bit as they show him giving a quick smile after Axel said that he was buying the story. Love this movie! Eddie Murphy was on fire back in the 80's and 90's! Originally, Sylvester Stallone was going to play the lead character in the film, and it was going to be a lot darker, more violent and action packed than it is. Stallone hated the comedic tone of the script and did his own rewrite. The producers read the rewritten script but didn't like it, and Stallone quit production and turned his rejected script into COBRA 1986.

Gill Hill was originally hired to work with Eddie Murphy, Paul Riser, and the actor who was originally cast as Inspector Todd as an acting consultant. The director and producers were so impressed with how well Hill got along with Murphy and Riser that they let the other guy go and recast Hill as Todd. Hill basically portrayed himself as Inspector Todd, except with more cussing. Similar situation with R. Lee Emery in Full Metal Jacket.
8:00 "Serge is Bronson Pinchot, who was all over American TV from the early 1980's to early 90's. 12:30 Damon Wayans, along with his brothers had the show "In Living Color" (which also launched Jennifer Lopez and Rosie Perez-both were dancers on the show) and later Damon Wayans was freakin hilarious in Major Payne.
I’m a musician, and as a kid in the 80’s I would go into Music stores to play the new synthesizers. It was originally released during the holiday season in 1984. Eddie Murphy returned to host SNL's Christmas show during the 1984-85 season. Robert Plant & The Honeydrippers(featuring Brian Setzer and Paul Shaffer) were the musical guests that week.
Just came here to say that the director of this movie (Martin Brest) also directed the movie for which Al Pacino won his Oscar, and gave us probably Chris O'Donnell's finest performance ever, Scent of a Woman. You have to check out the other two in this franchise, as well as The Golden Child, Trading Places, and Coming To America! Some of Eddie’s movies from the early nineties are worth seeing too. Boomerang in particular is a modern classic.

Yes but the 80s had way more classic movies than the 90s did. In the 80s there was at least a couple of classic movies that came out every single year… from 1980 to 1990. That wasn’t the case with the 90s, the 90s only had a few years where there was actually several hit movies… for example 1994, that was a HUGE year for movies. Some of the best movies ever came out that year. But no other year in the 90s had that many hit movies like all the way through the 80s did. 90s movies aren’t as cherished as 80s movies are. But I guess 1998 had quite a few hit movies that year too, but not like 94 did
the guy that killed Mikey, Jonathan Banks, starred in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Another great movie from Eddie is 48 Hours.
*Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid* is a must watch! You'll probably love the pairing of Robert Redford and Paul Newman.
When I think Eddie Murphy, being my age, I automatically think Beverly Hills Cop, Harlem Nights, Raw, Coming to America, Life, Nutty Professor, The Golden Child and Trading Places. Absolutely love him. And he's still around! Yes!
48 hours is another great Eddie movie
Eddie laughing at the 2 guys in the black & red outfits was a poke at himself. He wore the same style of outfit in his stand up routine Eddie Murphy Raw.
This Eddie Murphy movie along with the second one are gems and the highlight of Eddie Murphy’s career.
Wait till you see part 2. BILLY GOES CRAZY!!
All three Beverly Hills Cop movies are worth watching. Now that you are going down the Eddie Murphy rabbit hole, see '48 Hours,' 'Another 48 Hours,' 'Trading Places,' 'Coming to America,' and 'The Golden Child.'

Which films do you want her to watch? She's watched all the Kelvin timeline films, and do you really think MARY is going to enjoy the older films? I can guarantee you'd hate her reactions to the older films.
I love the end of Beverly Hills Cop 2, mostly because of the soundtrack. “Trust me. 😏” This was Eddie’s demeanor in all of his 1980s movies. You should also watch The Golden Child. It’s a hoot.

Wasn't Charles Dance in The Golden Child? Also there's Coming to America and 48hrs.

@@MorbidCrow666 Yep lol.
This movie was so big, that even the bit players made their careers off of it. Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, Damon Wayans, all got noticed in Hollywood due to the success of BHC. I even remember reading that there became a demand for Eddie's Mumford shirt! I can only imagine how amazed Eddie must've been at how he took off like a rocket in the wake of this movie.
You want a real appreciation of this era of Eddie Murphy catch his concert movie "Raw" & of course "Coming to America "
All 3 movies are great. A lot of people take issue with the 3rd, but it’s fun and has some of the more iconic moments of the trilogy.
Such ... cuteness ...
Another amazing comedy with Eddie Murphy is the Golden Child.
A fun reaction indeed. BHC2 is definitely a must see.
