You not realizing Axel F would be the theme music to Beverly Hills Cop makes me feel old😂 Anyone born in the 70s or 80s hears this song, and they know right away this is Axel Foley's theme music. This song peaked at #3 on America's Top 40 with Casey Kasem. It also had a video on MTV.

Axel F is the name of the song. So many people loved it. Then when they turned into the Crazy Frog, the song shot up even more among the younger crowd. Though many younger folks (at the time) didn't realize it came from this movie. To be honest I do love Crazy Frog version more lol. Though the original Axel F I do know how to play on a keyboard. It was the first song I taught myself.

I was actually first exposed to Crazy Frog's version as kid, way long before I got into the films in my teens. I've since regretted listening to that and found the original version superior because it came from the movie, and it washed away the memories of the Crazy Frog version to near extinct. lol

That "Crazy frog song" is called "Axel F" and is names after Eddie Murphy's character Axel Foley, so yes it is his theme song.

You are going to LOVE the evolution of the theme song in the second and third ones if you thought it was good already😎 it evolves very much like music in general during the 80's (reflected in the fact that audio synth tech made some big leaps in between filming each and they wanted to show it off, kind of like a lot of PC games are doing with Ray-tracing being newer right now.)

The 80's truly was the best decade for creativity in films. Whether it be story plots, characters or soundtracks. Beverly Hills Cop's theme is very catchy and recognisable. Oddly enough, it keeps showing up in Family Guy and American Dad.

Just so good Soundtrack on top of one of the best action comedies. It just doesn't come much better than this.

This movie really is hilarious and awesome.

By the way there's an interesting fact about this movie, this movie actually was the reason why Eddie Murphy was not able to be a part of the Ghostbusters movie with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Originally Eddie Murphy was supposed to be number for but because he was doing Beverly Hills Cop they had to reek ass and get Ernie Hudson. So which means the Ghostbusters movie that we now know now would have been different if any have taken the job and didn't do Beverly Hills Cop.

Sylvester Stallone himself wrote various drafts of the Beverly Hills Cop screenplay, which were all rejected (mainly due to budgetary reasons) before he left the project (and ended up doing Rocky IV & Rambo: First Blood Part II instead)...several years later he took a lot of elements & ideas from his rejected scripts and reworked them into his film, Cobra 🐍💥

Little known fact - for safe keeping of evidence the LAPD kept the bearer bonds in the vault at Nakatomi Plaza, meaning Axel Foley & John McClaine are part of the same universe. If only...

Yeah, the theme song Alex F essentially rotates around the F-key on the keyboard. It’s like it’s own character in the movie

That iconic song reminds me of the Simpsons

This movie has a hell of a history. The studio didn't want Eddie Murphy, so they got Stallone to replace Eddie. Stallone rewrote the movie and not only ramped up the action but he used the book Fair Game as inspiration for his script. WHen the studio projected Stallone's version to go way over budget, The producer and Martin Brest convinced the studio to rehire Eddie as it would be cheaper to make the original movie instead. Which is what happened and that's we got this version of Beverly Hills Cop. Side note: A few years later Stallone retooled his script to Beverly Hills Cop which ended up being the movie Cobra. A definte watch for just how ridicolous and awesome the movie is. Side Side note: The author of the book Fair Game sued Stallone and got to make a movie out of her book too called, Fair Game starring William Baldwin and CIndy Crawford. It's utterly forgettable compared to BHC and Cobra.

Another amazing reaction and movie, this one is such a classic! And with one of the most catchy and unforgettable themes, Axel F. Now you should definitely watch Ruthless People, it’s such a funny movie starring Judge Reinhold, Danny DeVito and Bette Midler

The music, at least the synthesizer part is actually a part of computer history. I think it was the first piece of music that was made into a sound file to be played by a computer that sounded exactly like the original.

Those Detroit cop cars with the single cherry light on top look so anachronistic for the 80s. I have no idea if that's period-accurate for the localle, but it definitely serves to make the DPD look run down and behind the times.

For a second I thought this was a collab, but then I looked closer and realized that both people in the thumbnail were you. 😂

One of the best bad guys ever!😁 He also played the Soviet Colonel in Rambo II. 6. "Beverly Hills Cop II" isn't too bad, but it's not as good as this.

A just some updates.... 1. Fun Fact - Sylvester Stallone was originally going to be in this movie as Axel Foley (and even wrote several additional drafts of the script himself - which were all rejected by the producers for mostly budgetary reasons, Stallone wanted a lot of action, explosions and even to change the name of the main character to Marion Cobretti) but after negotiations failed, Stallone dropped out and did both Rocky IV and Rambo: First Blood Part II instead. Stallone would later take elements and ideas from his rejected scripts & rework them into his film, Cobra. 2. I also personally liked 48 hours (and I also enjoyed the sequel too) with Eddie & Nick Nolte as well (Another Fun Fact - Johnathan Banks who played the henchman Zack in this movie, also played the cop who was shot in the opening scenes in 48hrs - although he shared no scenes with Eddie though). 3. Correction - Perfect Strangers wasn't short lived, it ran for 8 seasons (from 1986-1993) for a total of 150 episodes and was the basis for Family Matters (which was a spin-off series - for both Harriet & Carl Winslow made frequent appearances on Prefect Strangers) 4. Correction - Jenny Summers was played by Lisa Eilbacher (yes she did play Casey Seeger in An Officer And A Gentleman) and she also played Charles Bronson daughter in 10 To Midnight (an underrated action/thriller) as well as one of the many victims in (the sci-fi/horror film) Leviathan. She is retired from acting now. 5. Steven Berkoff played Victor Maitland. He was also Det. Const. Tom in 'A Clockwork Orange' (with Malcom McDowell), Sagan in Outland (with Sean Connery), General Orlov in the James Bond film Octopussy (with Roger Moore), Lt.Colonel Sergei Podovsky in Rambo: First Blood Part II (with Stallone), Sgt. Steinkampf in Legionnaire (with Jean Claude Van Damme) & Cobb in Red 2 (with Bruce Willis). 6. I enjoyed Beverly Hills Cop 2 (considering Tony 'Top Gun' Scott was directing) and it had Brigitte Nielsen (fresh off of Cobra and still married to Stallone at the time) who was good as the female lead. The title song 'Shakedown' would give Bob Seger a number one hit on the US Pop charts that year. ✌️

Great movie and so is Beverly Hills Cop 2 which is even better but Beverly Hills Cop 3 is horrible you can skip it. You should watch is other movies like The Golden Child and his 48 hours movies. I would also highly recommend you see (for yourself if not for a reactions) his two great 80's stand up shows Delirious and Raw.
