Lordy lord. She can seriously SING. This was always 1 of my fave George Michael songs and she just sang the shit out of it with so much depth and soul. Just saw her on Graham Norton will watch some of her other songs.
Beverly’s not seen enough these days, she’s one our best female vocalists, she’s class 👏🏼

Bev is very underrated as a music artist but well respected in theatre. The most underrated singer is Jessie Ware.
There’s only one George. George is everything. There will never be another. Few people could do him justice with this epic song...Beverly...such a badass. Such a fan.

George Michael is one of my favourite artists, and never a fan of cover versions of his songs. Except this one, its brilliant. Boy she has soul!

As for me, I prefer the random melodies and melisma that Mariah added to her cover of this song. And all in all with the added whistle note, it is a true ear-gasmic gem. If you didn't, try listening to Mariah's version (Me.I Am Mariah... the Elusive Chanteuse album) from start to finish so you would know what I'm talking about. Even the late Mr. George Michael appreciated what Mariah did to the song. :) As for this version, I think she became very aggressive in her approach to this song (climax), which is why I prefer Mariah's version more. But Beverly has great voice. More like Aretha with a touch of Beyonce (I'm not sure why I hear a little bit of Beyonce in her voice, maybe it's just me)

I saw this video a few years ago and when George Michael died yesterday immediately I came here to experience, again, this truly outstanding tribute to his legacy. Thank you for this soul-stirring rendition. Beautiful. I hope to one day see you perform it. RIP #GeorgeMichael 😢

He did. He was getting interviewed on radio 2 as they played this cover a lot and he called in to praise Beverley and say how much he loved her version
She was the special mystery guest singer at an Andrea Bocelli concert in Belfast when I was there with my sister and sang shoulda woulda Coulda 🎶🎶 Literally brought the house down!❤️👏👏the highlight for me Bev in all her glory ❤beautifully dynamic born performer love 💕 💕 love ❤️

Just saw a George Michael tweet about Mariah Carey's recent cover of this song, so being a George fan I thought I'd have a listen. Got a few seconds in and I had to revert back to this cover - Mariah totally ruined it! Only two people can sing this song in my honest opinion, the man himself and Miss Beverley Knight!

Without a doubt, one of the best performances I have ever seen. What a way to transmit a song! I will never tire of seeing this wonder ... a thousand times.
I expect his funeral gonna be huge. All the big music stars of the past 30-50 years who are still around and some of the new generation talents will be there. Britain adored him! Many around the world adored him. Very few celeb deaths affect a nation like this. Expecting Beverley gonna be there.

It's funny, I've heard this song in the past but sadly didn't really appreciate how superbly written it is. Unfortunately, it took his passing for me to look up his music and stumble upon this beautiful gem. Now I have it on repeat. It has a soulful/bluesy/rock vibe to it. The arrangement puts me in the mind of other great hits like Aretha's "Natural Woman" and "Aint No Way". The pleading tone of the vocals reminds of a more recent song by the X Ambassadors "Unsteady". I also can't get enough of the line: "I don't want to learn to hold you, touch you!" Without that heartfelt line, this song would not be the same!

What a song! Not a lot of people get away with a George Michael cover ( cough Mariah), but this is brilliant.
As a man who is very well versed in music of many sorts, i am completely surprised and somewhat ashamed to say today is the first day I've ever recognized this unmistakable gift of God! My lord, this woman can SING. I LOVE the George's version but, and don't hate me for this, she added whatever soul may have been missing in George's version. No disrespect to George but damn! When you listen to a song and your face looks like you've just smelled shit, you know you're in for something amazing 😊
