    A good friend, my best friend introduced me to this band. He's a bass/guitar player and good one, and a band mate. I grew to love these guys soo much over the years. Glad to see you both enjoy the ride. There's a lot of amazing songs to choose from. Game Over Gang. This one was Over Game.

    Long time BTBAM fan here. This song legitimately changed my outlook on life when I first heard it. I think I was 23 at the time. The song touches on the frustration of creating art and being stuck in a rut. You do the same thing day in, day out, and all you're doing is going out on the stage and whoring yourself out. Needing worship and devotion, but all you really want is something new. Stuck in a cycle of doing the old bit but it feels so soulless after a while. Eventually you start feeling like this isn't a musical journey anymore. The only way to break out of this is to begin throwing new ideas in, more ideas, more creativity, something new. The goal of breaking free and breaking out of the cycle of repetition and boredom. Because at the end of the day (as the song says) "This is all we have when we die, it's what is left of us when we die" "We will be remembered for this" The song represents the band's unified vision of wiping the slate clean, leaving convention behind and starting fresh. Starting with WHITE WALLS, an untouched canvas. The entire Colors album was written as a single piece of music, it's designed to be listened to in a single sitting with each song flowing into the other and that's how they play it live. The fun never stops, the fun can't stop. To me this song highlights that if you are to ever do something creative you HAVE to do what you want to do. It isn't art if you're copying someone else or your previous self. You need to explore and do new things. Never be content with where you are. The active word behind Progressive Metal is Progress. You have to move forward unafraid of the consequences.

    Gonna make a plug for something off Colors 2 - Fix The Error was the first single they released and I am sure you’d love it. As good as all these dudes are, what is craziest to me is how good Tommy (vocals) sounds now compared to this video. He’s only gotten better with time. Not that he’s bad here, but he’s been absolutely on point the last couple of tours. Even more impressive is that he’s nearing the age where vocalists tend to start having more struggles in a live setting but he shows no signs of struggling.

    @@iPlayDrums4You I honestly only bought the album because it was colors two. Colors was the first “metal” album I ever listened to, got obsessed with btbam in the late 2000s early 10s. Went back and fell in love with Alaska and have a few good feels from Self Titled and The Silent Circus tho mainly just the popular songs from the pre-present lineup era. So that’s albums up til 06,07(? Forgot exactly when colors came out). I got The Great Misdirect and had a really rough time with it. Mirrors and Obfuscation were amazing but some of the other ones weren’t really my cup of tea. Then pretty much the same with the Parallax:hypersleep Dialogues. Songs a bit too long and never really noticed much of a hook for anything to pull me in… then a few years go by and we got Parallax 2 which to me at the time could have been colors 2 because that was fucking amazing deff a top 3 album. What was after that Coma Ecliptic? Yeah just checked. I hate to say I had the same feels as the other two negative feeling albums. It was then I kinda realized they seem to experiment heavy for an album, then go back to a tighter sound that they are known for and it seems for a bit there it was like every other album. Automata 1+2 flew in under the radar for me and I have only skimmed thru those (Coma Ecliptic as well tho that on i at least had given a good 2 or 3 full album listens) mainly missed out on the Automatas because of hearing about them around the same time as colors 2. Which I knew was going to trump anything. For ease of reading I will rate each album out of ten if I didn’t give it enough of a chance I won’t give a number. BTBAM:7 TSC:6 Alaska:9 Colors:11 TGM:4.5 P:HD:~4 P2:FS:10 CE:4 A1:I don’t remember which of these A2:two I started but it did sound pretty decent C2:10 Top 5 albums 5. Self titled 4. Alaska (Tie for second) 2. Colors2 2. Parallax2 1. Colors Point out songs from CE and A1+2 that I should use to try to get into them and if you agree/disagree with anything lmk to I love talking about this band lmao if you can’t tell :) Of course I had to edit to actually answer your question…. I don’t think it would have made much of a difference for me, other than my lack of enthusiasm about TGM possibly making me less enthused to listen to it? Idk nomenclature has always been tough for me in general. I’m good at music, science and maths stuffs. Language has always been a weak point hence a lot of my own music going untitled and instrumental unless I had a songwriter which I did for a few months way back in the day

    I hope they bring back Mastodon too! They used to take comment suggestions, I’m sure they still do, but it seems they are taking mostly patreon requests. Which is understandable they probably have 100’s of those now. I’m still posting in the comments some suggestions I’m praying for too haha. LOVE Dylan an Erica they’re so fun to watch along with all the music in my playlists XD.

Blake Richardson.. super cool guy actually streams on twitch sometimes and there is a video on youtube 'Full Colors livestream play through!!!' he did it during covid it's too long to react to but you should check it out if you can. Insanely talented and you can see his perspective throughout the whole album playthrough he did on stream.

    Typically listen to much heavier music, and love BTBAM. A good lead-in for people who aren’t used to heavier vocals but want to eventually enjoy this kind of music could be early Coheed. Prog with some gutteral vocals but no screaming can certainly lead to appreciating this

  • @stri8ted
    @stri8ted2 жыл бұрын

    Frankly, I'm amazed this is even legal. Absolute bonkers. Not a huge fan of the screams, but in context of the whole performance, its actually not bad.

    If you are new to BTBAM this is the exact way I felt when I first got into them. As a drummer myself I had to be patient to get to the incredible parts and then I grew to love the other stuff and Tommy's vocals have grown on me and they have even gotten better as the band had "seasoned over the years"

  • @ryanbennett1532

    @ryanbennett1532

    It’s entirely an effect of attrition. These vocals are much more palatable (and are actually pretty tame) if you start with death metal in the first place. A fantastic lead-in to this band is older Coheed and Cambria; prog rock with gutteral vocals every now and then.
