@@Piterrrxd Yeah. The video really doesn't work at all on a budget. You need 5-6 high runes minimum to get started. Hammerdin and smiter both outperform it by miles on budget setups :

This is my starter build for 2.4 Season 1. I'll run Holy Fire into Hammers to clear the game then spec FOH for early CS. Come 85 I'll have maxed FOH, HB, HS and Fanata and will start running Ubers. 2 linked points, if your aiming for Medi spend the points for 1 point in redemption for Both Nihl farming and the post kill boost to mana. The last point to consider is Fanata is a huge boon to your merc and will radically increase their survival under-geared. This build is the first build exciting enough for me to break me of a sorc ladder starter. :D

Fortitude with the def, phy attack and actual fcr that would help the pali in this build is what i use. Im playing this build and love it. Lots of fun. I went holy bolt/fist heavens/ smite/ and redemption. Then rest in holy shield. Put greif on when have a map with a bunch animals and just smite em. Great vid! Love your content!

Really looking forward to playing this character. Seems like it will be really strong budget as well.

yup, I would definitely put it on my list of solid ladder starters too - since, unlike BH, is fine with staying back, and doesn't need to respec at all :)

@@r2Kd0ugernaut he said it will be strong as budget. couple spirits, lore helm will be enough to farm with Foh and then a high rez pally sheild with black runeword will be great for smite side.

I much prefer the feel of this over hammerdin. Hammerdin is still a bit faster in the places its good at - this has some really nice advantages: No issues in tight spaces, can stay back when it wants to, and has a much smoother leveling path (requiring no respecs)

Gg gear on both sides what would be a safer p8 hc cs build between this and hammerdin? Im currently lvl 91 and am looking to get to 99. I already have a build in mind for 98-99 (p1 seals p7 diablo) but havent made my mind up on 94-98 (p7 seals p7 diablo)

lol years ago I tried to make a holy shock zealer / FoHdin hybrid... didn't really work lol. Wound up just being a pure holy shock zealer (and this is vanilla single player, no dream).

Will the might aura from last wish stack if merc and myself equip it?

Awesome, although I usually keep my smite alternative gear in stash and only switch on demand. At least for my Hammerdin. Maybe I'll run insight prayer merc for the double heal and use holy frost on my paladin. Edit: On second thought I might use holy frost and reapers toll on merc and use the meditation + prayer myself. Need to check if prayer synergy needs hard points or not.

I haven't tested it in literal years (think the last time I did it was 1.11 of LoD... ), but unless they changed it, it should go by prayer's soft points.

What about using a Scepter CTA (for 4 to FOH) with a PalSpirit instead for the caster side? Not sure what Auras you could roll on the base for CTA, but that could free you up some skills, too. You would still hit 75 FCR easily with Arach, 2/20, and Spirit. Not sure there’s too much room to optimize further on the Smite side but lack of CTA was bugging me for single player especially.

First miatake people do on foher is that they think FOH sceptets are important, you dont kill with foh, you do with the holy bolts, foh is just the trigger button and the dmg nobody cares, cmon think outside the box....

Lovely build. Caster/melee hybrids are hard to pull off without sacrificing one or the other.

Will all current builds have the new patch applied to them when ladder gets launched? Or only after ladder finishes

Gosh I hope it's the former...

Instead of hoto I run a 5 so scepter with foh/redemption made into a cta. Just my preference. I like my bos and don't want to swap weps so I enjoy that setup. With a pally spirit

I wonder how a hybrid FOH dual dream set up would work.

Nice build. For super late game i would switch the hoto and hoz to a spirit35 45@ shield and a cta war scepter with +3 FoH. That way you keep most damage bit also have a cta on your main switch.

Can't find answer on internet anywhere...do you know if ED weapons and equipment work with holy bolt?

Alzorath Can you do a video on the Throw Barb from level 12-50 and the build seems to hit a wall at 30 really hard with the Attack rating issues.

i played it in old version. try to put in work totem. you can stand in safe area where creatures just start turning away from you. it helps. you will gain natural feeling for it after while. of course your points need to go more into dex (less str and vit) that is why you are using totem to minimize melee attack . you can respec later. also use merc of first act it helps you to increase chance of hit target and she stand very often in safe area too or take merc with blessed aim whenever possible.

@@petervlcko4858 I believe you get 75% of points in both strength and Dexterity. But I think the 3 piece Angelics will make the build more viable mid game. Guess I'll have to wait until 2.4 hits to try for sure.

@@chronesrt2925 i did not increased str as much. i was focused at mastery first and then i put points into trowing. also i have had like 75 points at level 30 in vit... used some gear to increased my live and cry often. is good fun build but do not expect "they call him man machine" effect without proper gear. also i play diablo walking... so you know... not for everybody. but barb is fast just enough to walk with some boots and mastery. :D angelicis good choice. you can do it

Good build, love the thought process for it. I build most of my characters similarily. Nice change of pace from the big sheet numbers single player P8 builds people clickbait with as well since they're mostly irrelevant to ladder play.

Out of Smite, Holy Shield, and Fanat. Which affects smite dmg the most?

It depends heavily on your gear - % boost (Fort, Fanat, Smite, etc.) vs Flat Boost ( Holy Shield, Grief, etc.) is kind of apples and oranges, they really depend on your gear as to which selection is going to be better... If you have a 400 point attack, and 100% ED - that will add an extra 400 damage (800 total) If you add a 10 flat boost to that, while keeping 100% ED - you'll go up to 820 total. If you add 10% to it instead, while keeping 400 attack - you'll go up to 840 total. on the flip side - if you have a 40 point attack and 100% ED (80 total) If you add 10 flat boost to it, you'll go up to 100 total. If you add 10% to it instead, while keeping the 40 - you'll only go up to 84 total.

Hey Alz, have you considered making a quick d2rplanner build for either 75 or 99 for these builds? I follow written guides a lot better myself, and I can see this being a nice addition for your audience who want to follow the build.

dual Fire Aura set up - Pally set up; conviction, hoj/dragon+flickering flame - A5 Merc Setup; Dual hoj dragon armor and a vamp/cta/andi's

Also look into fleshripper, my budget pure foh can kill Dclone when I throw a fleshripper and rattlecage on. Not the prettiest of fights granted.

Nerf? Nerf is really stupid, the build it's ok fun to play, and the others builds need to be fun too

So 2.4 corrects the Holy Bolt to damage Demons too againt like Diablo 1 did? Neat! I mean, it´s a HOLY Bolt, it damaging Demons only makes sense. Still means the character needs something else for the bestial enemies, but especially in Chapters 2 with the many Undead as well as 4 and 5 with the many Demons, this will be a much more valuable skill now.

Love how pallys and sorcs got the biggest buffs in 2.4. Pisses me off 😂 Smite, zeal, hamms, blizz, lightning and fireball weren’t good enough already I guess lol. FoH and nova do look fun though-I must admit 💀

I would agree that players 8 should be scaled to.maych 8 players respectively, however the item drop rates simply don't reflect that properly. Hell, it's around players 7 that the drops are actually palletable for one person. And it's not that what I find is particularly stellar it's that at 350 mf, I'm actually getting consistent drops on a level that I'm not absolutely demoralized, but invigorated. Even if the drops suck, at least I'm on the score board now, instead of ambling around praying that so much as a peasants crown drops just to reassure me that mf is in fact still working. Buff drop rates and I'm all for it. There's an insane amount of trash items that are bad or unusable in any circumstance and they clog what few drops we do get even in favorable circumstances.

Maybe you can check out mage pally. 20 foh 20 holy bolt. Max hammer max blessed aim 3 hard points conc rest into vigor. Full hdin gear and skillers. 1 point fanat if you want to do ubers as a 1 pt smiter. That's the true game clearing toon

Why would you max Blessed Aim over Vigor? Blessed Aim does nothing for you while Vigor will help you get around and both give the same synergy bonus.

Don’t use lawbringer on merc, the curse will cancel out your life tap from Exile, only one curse is allowed at the same time 👍🏻

If you're running dual lawbringer on a merc, I can pretty much guarantee you don't have an exile.

if this is first SSF char, i think always - on salvation aura is best, not care about res anymore

both are solid options, generally vs bosses and for general progression I prefer meditation, but redemption works great for area clears.

Nah leave it alone. This thing and a blizz sorc will be epic early ladder farming

Idea- Holy fire + Bolt without FoH. 1pt in smite.

Actually been working on something a little similar to that - not quite the same though

Astreon's is mathematically the fastest weapon for an uber smiter. Conviniently, it also buffs Fist of the Heavens by 4. I'm planning to go with Astreon + Phoenix in my endgame setup (Phoenix's cast delay is fixed), for a strong smite and the free Redemption to fix all mana needs of FoH. Gonna need a 2/20 circlet of some sort and a 15 fcr amu (or grifons and 10 fcr somewhere) to reach 75.

For Ubers, yes - this is because the crushing blow - for other uses, not as much - a Grief PB bypasses a lot of astreon's issues.

Bruh we don’t have +43 to skills. Can you show what to invest in with a normal persons lvl 85 no skillers and gear. Like just me with the 90 points. Where do we put them. You can’t tell cause you have so many plus skill points.

... this character has +23 combat skills (bit less in the other ones), and I did show what was invested in - it displays "(Base: #)" as the base level of the skill. The skill setup is the same for budget versions.

FYI: This build has been dubbed by the community as the Templar/Vindicator Paladin, or the TV pally as you focus on Fist of the Heavens and Holy Bolt damage with the supporting Smite skill for the physical aspect. Not only can you farm with this build, you can also be competitive in PvP.

Why nerf FOH, you really only get 2 choices otherwise.

CTA... Where are you... HC dont like this 🙂

Sorry for being a bit curt in the reply - it's not an excuse, but last night the channel was getting bombed pretty heavily by spam ( a couple PoE fanboys got a bit "angry" that I criticized a game I enjoyed, but can see problems in - and youtube's auto-cleanup on bans has been finnicky the past few days - leaving a few dozen of the comments lingering ) - so was a bit on edge. That aside - a bit behind the curtain: Generally speaking, the issue you're seeing is because "high end builds" tend to get more views - and are more prone to being better "clicky" titles (so they get recommended more) - I know that Llama, Dbrunski, and myself all cover some budget versions as well (llama through guided playthroughs, dbrunski including "upper-mid" budget options in his videos on a build, and I include mine as standalone "budget build videos" where I limit use of specific uniques/sets and instead demonstrate the build with crafting/runewords as "bad luck smoothing" options) I keep mine split because it helps with youtube's systems. I've done videos keeping them together, and videos where they were split - and it's usually about a 20% retention difference, which is significant to youtube's systems. There's other factors in decisions as to how to format the videos as well - I can guarantee you Llama and Dbrunski, with their longer videos have ~10-15% RPM (earnings per 1000 views) than my shorter videos, but it's worth it to me not for the retention bump and more positive responses from regular viewers.

This is NOT budget, this is insanely endgame at this point ANY BUILD would work you can just PUNCH with a barb if you have that gear. Scuffed build.

Given how many highrunes this cost it was pretty pathetic, slow and clunky for both ubers and general clearing. Certain zones are viable with the spec.. but honestly being jack of all trades really isn't particularly good. And no, this build is absolute trash with cheap gear. Please dont oversell and lie about it. The hammerdin is ok on budget. The smiter is decent on budget. Trying to smear

It's actually really easy to play on a budget - I've gone through a few times with variants of it. Individual Playstyle can be an issue for some, but the build is solid.
