One of the most underrated songs of the 90s.. crazy the lack of respect for this masterpiece

This is one of those songs that bring me right to another time and place as soon as I hear the opening to it. It feels good to reminisce on the memories but hurts to know they are long gone..

Haven't heard this song in 25 years now can't stop listening to it.

Dont get too caught up in nostalgia to the point where you dont create new memories with your children or other young ones in your life. Include these elements so they can look back one day and feel connected to the moment the he same way you are now.

One of the best albums ever, had this on cassette and CD lol. Gotta love the 90s bands… the Gin Blossoms, Dishwalla, The Toadies, Spacehog, Collective Soul…. What an era for music.

Tonic, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Gin Blossoms, The Cranberries, and this band was my life soundtrack growing up. I remember when Good premiered on MTV made me a fan of this band. I purchased both Deluxe and Friction, Baby CD’s and wore out both albums. I was 12 years old when Deluxe was released. So many good memories. I wish I could go back to better times.

I miss these mid-late 1990s post grunge rock bands like Goo Goo Dolls, Everclear, Better Than Ezra, Live, Bush, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Fuel, Local H, Hum and the Bloodhound Gang.

Better Than Ezra frontman Kevin Griffin said in an interview he wrote this song when his girlfriend at the time's uncle Patrick was in the final stages passing away from Aids and it's about not knowing about the history of who you love & who they've loved before you.

Thanks for the explanation. I initially could not make heads or tails of what this song was about, but within the context you shared, the lyrics make total sense to me now, and I love the song even more than I did previously.

Man this brings back memories . Summer of 1996 this song was all over the radio nonstop. And I couldn't get enough.

So when this came out i was that kids age, and my parents played this album on the home stereo often.... the nostalgia is almost too much. Longing for that better time

I think closer is their best album although the earlier ones had some great songs. As a whole, I think closer was excellent top to bottom.

I saw them at the House of Blues in New Orleans, fantastic concert, that night on the way home hit a deer on the way home at 3:00 am, my first deer after a concert

One of the many gems of the 90's

I'll never get tired of listening to rock hits of the 90s. This band is one of my favourites. In The Blood, Good, Desperately Wanting, King of New Orleans and Rosalia are my favourites. Always with ♥️ from the Philippines.👍✌️🤘😉

I was 16 in ‘95 - had the tape adapter to play this CD in my 1984 Mercury Cougar. Smells like Drakkar Noir & Marlboro Lights going for a cruise after a shitty 4-close at the fast food gig.

I still have my tshirt from the 1995 Deluxe tour! I loved BTE in high school and still do!

I remember being 16 and singing this song with so much passion like I understood it. Now that I am 40 I really understand it and I still sing it like I wrote it.

@@mrjesanchez It's about an acquaintance of the lead singer's dying of AIDS. This was back in the mid-90s, when life expectancy was much lower. "In the Blood" literally refers to the disease, and the questions, "Who'd you love before? Who'd they love before you?" Is about trying to trace who they got it from and who else they might have passed it on to.

I totally agree this song should have charted as high or higher than "Good", it really showed the emotional range of these guys. So overlooked, but they had so much competition for airplay on the radio back then.

Awesome 😎 It's one of those songs that never gets old .
