    Great comparison with the spectrometer. (I thought for a moment it was a Star Trek Communicator on your desk!)

    Great review and footage. I believe the Eazeye folks said they're going to use an anti-reflective glass layer (not sure if that made the model they sent you) and may include something to put on it for further light disperson. Either way, curious what adding a matte screen protector to some or part of the screen to compare the glare reduction/display quality. I remember a marked improvement on my Hisense Q5 rlcd, with minimal blur.

    This was a very good video and review. I appreciate your perspective. I have to admit that I did keep thinking Transwarp every time you talked about the difference between e-ink and the screen. 😂 Love the background on your monitors by the way.

    You should try to check out the NXTPAPER 14 when it releases. It's kind of similar to this but had a matte screen and try to emulate feel of eink without actually being eink.

    Wavelength spikes aren't a bad thing as you can save a lot of power by just emitting the light that your eye can detect, but yeah screens just have a ton of blue light compared to other sources

    I wonder if it's possible to use the LCD panel as soler panel means when blocking the unnecessary light it will convert that unnecessary lights into electricity.

    00:00 🌞 Introducing the Easi Radiant: a portable transreflective LCD monitor for sunlight and low light conditions. 00:19 📜 Transreflective Explained: Combines reflective display for sunlight with backlight for dark settings. 00:45 🐢 E-Ink Limitations: Slow refresh rates, color saturation, and ghosting issues. 01:10 🎁 Disclosure: Easi provided the review unit with no input on content. 01:22 🖥 Build Quality: Aluminum body, sturdy, weighs over a kilo, 15.6-inch Full HD screen. 01:49 🔗 Connectivity: Mini HDMI, USB-C, stereo speakers, headphone jack, control switch. 02:20 🌈 Backlight Tint: Greenish tint due to full-spectrum LED backlight mimicking natural light. 02:48 🔍 Blue Light Reduction: Spectrometer test shows less blue light emission compared to typical displays. 03:41 🧠 Comfortable Backlight: Potentially more eye-friendly, though color fidelity is slightly compromised. 04:07 📐 Viewing Angles: Adjusting angles helps with reflective and transreflective screens. 04:44 💡 Brightness: Maximum backlight brightness around 270 nits, suitable for indoor use. 05:41 🌳 Outdoor Performance: Effective in sunlight, tilting screen helps with reflections. 06:20 🖼 Matte Screen Protector: Reduces reflections but worsens contrast and readability. 06:52 🔌 Portability: Can run off a single USB-C cable, suitable for laptops and phones. 07:55 🖲 Touch Screen: Touchscreen support inconsistent, not optimized for Mac OS. 08:30 🎛 Menu Navigation: Menu switch uncomfortable, touchscreen navigation unreliable. 08:56 🔊 Speakers: Built-in stereo speakers are functional but not high-quality. 09:41 📏 Drawbacks: Reflective glass attracts fingerprints, viewing angle stability, and color accuracy compromises. 10:31 💼 Specialized Use: Best for outdoor use, less effective indoors due to reflections.

    standard lcds with the same specs are around 120, eazeye wants 600 (before taxes and import fees) for this one, just for the extra layer. i wonder if they couldnt do it cheaper or didnt want to. the screen body, ports and control elements are the very same off-the-shelf-parts you will find in any other chinese brand usb c lcd.

    Good question - the pricing does seem pretty high. I think it's probably because they're producing in small batches and using some non-standard production method for that type of screen. Plus, they're likely aiming to make a profit too.

    I'm guessing the standard chinese ones are using lots of surplus laptop screens mabe? so they can be cheap rather than having a bespoke type of screen

    @@cloudycolacorpThat's not ... well, not really a thing. A display panel is a display panel is a display panel. There's no "surplus laptop screens", they're all just LCDs of a laptop-suitable size. There are absolutely portable monitors using the same panels as laptops, but that doesn't make those surplus screens, they're just buying the same SKU from the panel maker. As for what makes this more expensive, likely it's down to the simple fact that this needs bespoke R&D and uses a highly unusual panel type, both of which will drive up costs massively compared to other portable monitors that pretty much exclusively use off-the-shelf parts and firmware with very little R&D needed.

    @@Kraaketaer forgive me if I'm wrong but that's kind of exactly how it works and you said as much. If there's a ton of off the shelf laptop panels that are available in inventory it's far cheaper to buy up those to put in a portable monitor product than some bespoke transflective panel you have to do R&D

    I'm 32 seconds in at this point, and strongly considering not watching any further simply because you keep saying "trans*re*flective" rather than the correct "transflective". If this keeps going, I'm pretty sure my head will explode.

    AFAIK both can be used interchangeably. I've encountered both in German and quickly googling it also returns both in English - but you're right, that transflective definitely seems to be more commonly used.

  • @Kraaketaer

    @Kraaketaer

    @@ChalidRaqami it's more commonly used, including in the title of the Kickstarter for this monitor. Yes, transreflective is also used, and while I'm 99% sure that's due to people misreading the word as it's not exactly a common word, that obviously also means that transreflective is... fine to use? It's understandable, obviously. But transflective is a portmanteau, and for those you generally cut off a part of both words, not just one (i.e. trans(missive)(re)flective, not trans(missive)reflective). The reason I bring this up though is that while transflective doesn't exactly roll off the tongue either, transreflective is just jarring and disturbing to hear pronounced as it forces a weird staccato pronunciation - the mouth movements it needs are just too large to flow easily. IMO it completely ruins the flow of speech and sticks out like a sore thumb every time it's said.
