this has to be one of the best and most objective breakdowns of a switch i have seen! i would suggest to include the respective values or value ranges within the comparison charts to further improve objectivity and maybe even allow for broader comparisons to other linear switches or future testings. as i already said though: phenomenal breakdown!

Wow sounds quite similar to the Ink Black, and fairly clacky. The stem wobble is impressive. I do think they're worth considering for sure.

I have been hoping that you would review these switches and you never fail to impress! Thank you for the great content. I have been scouring the internet to get a good review of these switches and you have provided your usual excellent analysis. Mine just came last week and I was holding out to see if they needed to be lubed. Now I know and knowing is half the battle... Thanks Scott!

@@JayNguyen0702 the switches are nice and smooth. I have them on a little 65% wireless keychron k6 pro. Nice sound and great fit for my build.

Those dominant ranges are in the frequency range if your desk. If the board were isolated from your desk, you would find that dominant range much higher. Somewhere in the several hundreds

Fantastic as usual. I love my Aqua Kings, but these North Poles are an awesome alternative. Also, being full 4 mm travel is a breath of fresh air amongst all the short travel, long pole switches coming out these days. All of these part Ink offerings from Gateron is a boon for us.

hey scott, great videos. i was just wondering, what are the sample sizes in the wobble tests?

@keybored Seeing North Pole V2 - with a silicone dampener at the base along with some venting holes - wondering if you had taken a look at the new version - and if the dampener contacts the stem - affecting the feel (mushy) of the switch. Thank you for the videos BTW - your scientific approach to testing is really appreciated vs. subjective "feel"

14:58 they work north facing with cherry keycaps. Literally the only criteria I was waiting to find out before they checked my list

Akko also just released a Crystal series switch that is very similar to both mentioned in this video. I would love to know how those three compare.

Love your content, @keybored! Thank you for putting in your time and knowledge. I am a mech board noob, and actually just purchased my first kit. I landed on the QK75, but have a massive headache from trying to figure out what switch. I come from mx browns, but figured i'll try linear. Would you say the NP is a good choice for the QK? Do you also have a medium tactile recommendation in the same price/quality range (i want 2 sets to play arround and perhaps build a board for my GF too)?

Probably gonna stick to my Aqua kings. Honestly like the sound better and it’s less work. But I do need to get some oil kings!

For anyone watching, the north poles have a 2.0/v2 version with a little yellow silicone ring at the bottom. Basically turning these into semi silent switches with a softer bottom out than normal.

What is more silent than North Pole? Using Ink Black V2s at the moment.

@@TheChrisDecember not sure but the inks are a solid choice. The north pole not only sounds quiet but also can hear soft rubber sound thats not appealing in my opinion.

I think the Jelly Blacks should be in this comparison too. That being said I just kinda love them.

Looks great for the RGB boys but from your sound test the Aqua King sounds deeper.

Hey @Keybored, would you think you will make a comparison of all existing Gateron Yellows? There are so many of them on the market these days and I felt like a comparison with the latest KS9 Pro Yellow 2.0 and the original Yellow would be cool.

Damn it ! I’ve passed a tremendous time to look around all switches and come to final choice that is betwwen Aqua and North (Tealios as n°3). And damn it because i preferr North for everything (it conception and less wobble and all points..) .. but I prefer the « creamy » sound of Aqua King. Still don’t know wich one for my coming new Keyboard.. 😭 Thank you for this serious and helpull vid.

Need those sound tests while looking for the newest tactiles with deepest sound. Dooms, Sapphires, Coffee Chip(Your last deep sound winner), Turbulence, S2 V2 Snow, Baby Kangaroos, Akko V3 Cream Blue, Dark Warriors. Anubis is supposed to being released again.

I challenge you to make a board that has per-key and downfiring LEDs in a clear PC case and put these switches in along with clear caps 😁

I compared Gateron Clears to Aqua Kings, though it was a personal comparison rather than something data-based. Great, light switch lubed and filmed (and affordable!)

Very interesting! Looking at the comparison, I don't see a practical reason to stick to the ink v2's... 🤔

this switch sounds like you're pressing 3 keys at the same time, I kinda like it

I almost got these but did some research and some people report they are over lubed and just average, however this video kinda changed my opinion since they seem pretty good

Have you tried the Tecsee Ice Candy switches? They are long pole linears that are also clear.

Same here, they all seem incredibly similar, though the Ice Candy has an UHMWPE stem option along with the transparent stem

I wonder if you can review the Kailh Clione Limacinam switches? Both the tactile and linear variant. They are also crystal switches like Aqua King or North Pole for that maximum RGB goodness.
