I feel like they are off on the price point here. You can get a Furitek Lizard for $50 and a Komodo Micro brushless motor for $35 which is less than this package. You can also upgrade it with a bluetooth to have an amazing amount of control. Unless they add bluetooth and more ability to adjust the settings, I just feel like we are going to see this on clearance in a year or two. It might be worth it to buy it then.

Options that compete are indeed nice. In what way would this compete? Price? No. Performance? No. Programmability? No. Better than stock? Not in any of the ways listed. Maybe in longevity? I don't know. If it lasts 4 times longer than stock electronics at 4 times the cost I think it a wash. My V2 stock electronics slow crawl better by the looks of it but maybe this has more torque at slower speed.

@@Br0rB And if someone doesn’t want another brushed motor? There isn’t a one way only rule in building a model. Options are good. I love my Furitek systems but 2 of the 3 systems I own required extra work to get them hooked up. Not everyone has the skills or knowledge to do that. It may be simple for you, but not everyone. I’ve been doing RC media for over 30 years. I constantly see first hand how basic products like this one are necessary in the hobby.

@@rcdriver I would think that if people that have a 24 scale crawler and want something other than brushed, they are already a step up from being just a casual driver, and would know about some of the other options already. I think it's more like that their hobby shop will be pushing this setup, rather than a nice brushed motor. Given that I haven't tried this combo, it's hard for me to say that my brushed setup is better, but just from watching the video, I'm pretty confident that my stock v1 SCX24 with a 050 Injora pro motor can crawl slower than this, and just as smoothly. And that was a 10-15 Dollar upgrade. :)

Also , I don’t crawl my scx24, they aren’t designed for it .. they are designed to be trailed / overland driven .. you can fully upgrade the rig , which is nice , to make it into a crawler but honesty I think I would rather buy a direct crawler designed for the task then upgrade it to make it better . what an absolutely idiotic product! pretty much the only reason why you'd want a sensored inrunner over an outrunner is the waterproofiness... which goes out the window with a huge hole in it. the tiniest, smallest outrunners currently available will outperform this tiny puny dinky thing with ease. hell, i wouldn't be surprised at all if the plethora of 050 brushed motors with a decent brushed ESC [and the V2 in the gladiator/bronco qualify] would actually be better, because there should not be any doubt a decent 130 will eat this thing alive then there's the question of the 1-2s capability, the noise, the small underpowered pathetic BEC, etc etc etc i thought FINALLY some competition for Furitek... and all we got is a useless PoS that's worse than the small sensored inrunners that have been available for a loooong while now [Hobbywing... or lots of other manufacturers if you go shopping in the MiniZ aisle], which kinda suck for crawling

The kicker is that Furitek just dropped their newest 18\24 scale ESC today also. The pro version is 4s capable and can run 2 full size HV servos at the same time, with Bluetooth built in. This is just so lacking it's ridiculous.

Especially when they drop the same day Furitek drops a far superior system that's 40\70 amp with up to 4s. Lol, I know it's just the ESC from Furitek, but this video doesn't look any different than stock to me. If the motor can take more than 2s it might be worth pairing with the Furitek, but as far as I'm concerned the ESC is trash.

For sure the “experienced” hobbyist wanted more. But what the experienced fail to realize over and over is that they don’t make up the majority of the RC world. They are the small (vocal) chunk at the top of the RC pyramid. They’re so engrained in their segment they block out the bigger picture. The big portion is general to occasional enthusiasts who are the majority owners of small crawlers for fun. This system is for that crowd and who I reviewed it for. Is it better than stock and help them crawl more consistently in a easy drop in package? Yup. Is it the best thing out there? Absolutely not. It’s just another option for someone to consider.

@@rcdriver True. I am used to working in a Hobby shop that caters to crawlers. I would say most of my customers already know by watching YT what they are looking for. about 10% don't. These are for places like Hobbytown style catch all stores.

@RCDriver_Online What you say is right, Furitek is the main only option for the best performance, but for those that want something, don't break pocket this one, or keep the stock system

That's pretty fast for being the lowest speed, and it's quite dissapointing that it's paired with such a weak BEC. Sure, it's nice that it's fairly easy to install, but so is the Furitek stuff, and that seems so, so much better than this. My Furitek rigs have way, way better slow crawl and a stronger BEC that will handle much better servos than stock or Emax - and it's not that much more expensive either. I don't understand why they would release such a underwhelming product, when they could have done just a little more tweaking and made something that was on par with what is already available. I guess it's because they know they can push it to people that don't know better, and that will pay too much money for something that could be achieved by just buying a better brushed motor for way less. In my book that's pretty shady.

@@rcdriver Absolutely, the majority is the casual hobbyist. And for them it's easier to just get the stuff from the same brand, that I'm sure most hobby shops will be pushing. It's more that they are getting a "weak" product, compared to what others offer. Sure, it looks nice and has a better presentation and packaging than Furitek (which is basically the only one-stop shop for a nice Brushless combo for small scale), but would it have killed them to up the specs a little? I'm sure they will be selling a lot of these, even though for most people with even the tiniest amount of knowledge about how to use a screwdriver, they would manage setting up a Furitek pretty much just as easyily as this.

Still not worth it to the experienced modeler. But what the experienced modeler forgets, chooses to ignore or is unaware of is they don’t make up the majority of users in this industry. The general fun haver does. People that bought RC for simple fun. Bombing around yards; occasional users. For them this system is fine for a swap from stock. I’ve talked to plenty of shops that have sold a bunch of these and it’s always the same story. The fun-havers buy them and it works for them.

@@rcdriver I see no benefit of this system versus dropping a PN Racing motor in, which gives the truck loads of power and much better slow crawl performance than stock for $52. From what I have seen and heard of the Firma system, it has terrible slow crawl performance. I have seen two types of people in RC since the 80's. Those who work on their RC's, and those who dont. So I don't see this system selling unless hobby shops do as hobby shops do and push inferior products on their ignorant customers to make a buck. Likely installing this system for the customer to boot. The point is, it's an inferior product for the money. I'll be surprised if they don't discontinue it, or do a complete redesign to better compete with Furitek. The huge sale on this ESC kinda shows that to be quite possible, as I have seen other products from Horizon follow the same pattern. Huge sale, then bye bye.
