58MM Shocks on the SCX24 - HUGE FLEX - Review, Installation, Shock Setup & More!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I check out the new 58MM long travel shocks for the Axial SCX24 made by PowerHobby! These things are massive! I compare these to 43mm and 54mm shocks and install them on Axel's monster truck SCX24 Gladiator and my blue Jeep Gladiator. I put both rigs on the bench for an articulation test and on the course for some run tests and crawling footage.

    CRazy! I might have got to 70 degrees. A single limiting strap in the center rear would allow max flex but also keep the body down. The axle would only drop half way but each side would still get full flex.

    Awesome video these shocks are sick and one thing I should tell you is at the beginning the audio and video was a bit out of sync but during axels (correct me if I’m wrong on the name) run footage it was perfect same for the rest of the video one thing if you put really skinny width tires I think it would flex even more I could be wrong though also you should do a tour of your workbench, crawling tables, and RC cars

    Real question is what is max needed in any scenario, but you also have to factor weight distribution since the more of an angle it sits at the more it'll wanna roll before reaching max deflection. Pretty interesting to see this portion of the hobby exploding right now. I believe the resulting development will be rapid initially.

  • @CapeCrawlers

    You can still have fun running crawler lines driving like that, that’s more of a rock bouncer driving style. I have an scx24 just for that type of driving, quick with the ability to slow crawl when you need it. Sometimes trigger happy can get you to hop over some lines that slow crawlers just can’t if you got your rig setup right, that’s where I have my fun. Kinda bash crawling lol.

  • @CapeCrawlers

    @CapeCrawlers

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching! I've been asked that before. The benefit to the shocks is that they keep the axle straight. With just limiting straps I think it would be too floppy and you would have linkage binding and driveshaft loss due to horizontal movement. The shocks are stabilizing limiting straps essentially.

    You can drive knowing that directly underneath you is big clearance. The portal boxes and c hubs don’t hang up as bad as you would think, but it’s still always a potential snagging point. I’m still happy with them 👍🏻

    @Cape Crawlers Sorry, stopped watching and left for work before getting to that part of the video lol. I just ordered an fcx24, beadlock wheels, tires, steering links and the 58mm shocks. I was a little worried about the driveshafts falling out from too much extention with the 58mm ones.. is that an issue with these? I know it's an issue on my RGT v2 and 48mm DB shocks. Gotta use limiting rubber bands.
