It was very cool how Jimmy playing Gene, lied by acting way better than when he faked his burst into tears with the insurance lady. He played well because this time he mixed a lot of his personal truths, to the lies of his character Gene.

The ending of BCS was revealed to us long ago, with Gene's theme song: "We Three" by 'The Ink Spots' (1946) We three, we're all alone Living in a memory My echo, my shadow, and me We three, we're not a crowd We're not even company My echo, my shadow, and me What good is the moonlight The silvery moonlight that shines above? I walk with my shadow I talk with my echo But where is the one I love? We three, we'll wait for you Even till eternity My echo, my shadow, and me "We three we're all alone. Seems like we're livin' in a memory. That's my echo my shadow and me. We three we ain't no crowd. Fact is we ain't even company. That's my echo my shadow and me. You know I been wonderin' what good is the moonlight that silvery moonlight that shines way, way up above? Yeah, I walk with my shadow, I talk with my echo, but where is that gal that I love?" People are complaining a great deal about the change in Jeff, but they're forgetting the power of perception. Jeff wasn't really that tough just like he wasn't really that tall when leaning over Gene. Once Gene decided that recognition alone is not death, he moved past it, and Jeff's seeming power dissipated. I'll be really disappointed if he does prove to be Gene's downfall and hope that Gilligan and Gould have something else up their sleeves.

The unseen flashbacks, or as Gilligan/Gould call them "missing scenes", are masterful throughout BB, BCS and El Camino. They have an uncanny ability to take a previously "irrelevant" scene and extend it to add more context as to the how and why. Can't wait to see how (or if) this plays out with White & Pinkman's appearance.

Regardless of the scheduling conflict, while I didn't mind the actor switch for the character of Jeff, I was disappointed that the writers took a character that was clearly confident and cocky, even confrontational, and suddenly turned him into a weak, Mama's boy who fumbled some bit crime back in Albuquerque. I'm not used to the BCS writers choosing an easy fix. However, they've given us so many amazing, groundbreaking episodes, I can't complain. It happens. One theory that's been floating around is that Jeff was sent by Vacuum Ed to out Gene, knowing that Gene may call in again for another pickup and Ed could then rinse him for more money. Bear in mind Jesse missed his first pickup then had to pay extra for the second one that took him to Alaska. Jeff spending time in ABQ is definitely significant. We just don't yet know why.

I try to NOT have expectations regarding the actual plot, but I will admit I expected the Gene timeline to maintain a more consistent tone. From the beginning of the series, there's been a very film noir feel to the Gene scenes, with a looming sense of tension and dread. Gene is trapped, paranoid and without hope. Something insane is going to happen. But this new episode felt more like a situation comedy without a laugh track. The entire tone, the music, the weakening of Jeff's threatening presence, and the improbable scheme to distract Jeff from a potentially large reward with some glorified shoplifting, just doesn't match the very real expectations I had going into this episode. At this point I'm expecting only good things from the remaining episodes. Let's hope!

I think Jeff coming back would soften the impact of Gene's first (maybe only?) full episode with his first scheme in a long time. I couldn't help but remember Chuck saying people get hurt when it comes to Slippin' Jimmy. Gene was probably sighing in relief he didn't end up killing Jeff in his fall. Last scheme he had with Marco ended in death. Hell, Howard and Chuck died in conjunction of his cons so all the deaths may have flooded back.

I liked this episode a lot. It had it's little moments and homage nods: - Jeff rhyming numbers with stolen store articles reminded me of the Dirty Dozen. - I saw the KC bag. Maybe a red herring? - When Gene was pretending to break down, did he say he was 'nobody'? Nice nod to and cross marketing for Odenkirk's recent film. - I think the casting of another actor for Jeff was brilliant, and intentional. Think about it. Gene living a paranoid "fight or flight" existence is identified by someone from Albuquerque. From Gene's scared POV Jeff is the Devil. Once Gene regains his composure and confidence he sees Jeff as he really is - a scared, unintelligent, little pissant, portrayed beautifully by Pat Healy.

It would be interesting to eventually hear from Gilligan, Gould, and Schnauz about what the plan was with the original Jeff (Harvey). I get the feeling though mom is more of the formidable adversary. She will discover what went down at the mall and turn in her son as a form of tough love. This will be what puts the cops onto Gene forcing him to run, Hence the teaser scene from E11 of the crossroads. Where Gene will make the choice to return to the bad choice road. Per the timeline we are somewhere between Walt's death and the mysterious phone call. I think the series ends with that phone call. That is where Jimmy/ Saul / Gene finally hears Kims voice again and the police catch him.

Well, that has got mean something. So, let's go out on a limb and say we try tying together this episode along with not only what will happen as well as cover things we already have written about previously, great idea! Covering our "loose ends" so to speak. Let's do this, no, never mind. Let's instead title it spinning a fiction about a more fictional non-existing dog that really plays no major part in our saga. Okay and do not forget to sprinkle in sports with cinnamon we love that spicy cinnamon! Great going guys and again job well done. Do not forget security cameras, suits, purses, high heeled shoes, plus counting game and snow do NOT forget snow. And hope the viewer forgets this our very first airing that stays within the Gene timeline for entire episode. End.
