Steve you are funny. @ around 15 minutes when Jimmy sees Kim has work and goes to the cell phone store~ he's not thinking about being Saul Goodman, he feels inadequate being around Kim who is busy kicking butt. "It's all good." is like, it is NOT all good. Its this toxic self fulfilling prophecy. He is running from Jimmy McGills problem, and commits to a new identity to hide from his emotional baggage he's blocked up and held in.

FUN FACT: Better Call Saul is typically shot digitally but Breaking Bad was shot on 35mm film (one of the last shows to use this method). For the cold open of this episode, they actually used 35 mm film in order to truly capture that grainy film feel that Breaking Bad had.

  • @boundto484

cuccamunga It’s also incredible that they actually had parts of Saul’s office still in storage that they were able to use in order to replicate everything almost perfectly. They didn’t decide that BCS would actually come to life until after Breaking Bad had ended I believe, so the set could have easily been destroyed.

And it's kiddy most of the time (after all, it's a Nickelodeon show), but the series becomes great in season 2 and season 3. That cold open flash forward to the events of BB is something I’ve never seen in a TV show before. Up until now, BCS was telling its own story, and works very well without the context of the first show to enhance it. With this episode’s opening, the writers are essentially saying this is the point of no return for Jimmy. This show is absolutely for the fans now, Easter eggs and all, because I bet that small number of people who are watching this show without seeing BB must be super confused.

Steven when Jimmy got robbed and beaten: "I mean, that's the price you pay when you do criminal shit." Actually, Jimmy didn't anything illegal. He sold cell phones. There's no law against that. And there's nothing illegal about using a sales pitch which emphasizes how cell phones offer more privacy than landlines. He sold to some unsavory-looking characters in an unsecure location but again, he's not breaking any laws. He let his guard down and got rolled by three punks. He didn't deserve to get his ass beat, and he was probably just seconds away from hopping in his car and driving away but he got unlucky. I love how this show makes you care about peripheral characters. Francesca! Her transformation from sweet and obliging receptionist who dreams of Hawaii to the absolutely cynical hard-ass who works strictly for the cash. Howard! Who ever imagined we'd come to worry and care about his well-being. I hope we'll see Rebecca again. And, Kim and Nacho aren't peripheral, but we do worry about them, don't we?

🌭🚐🧺🧱 The opening in this episode is why I think Kim is alive & well in BrBa. I think Saul sent Francesca to Kim. (He could have sent her to HHM but I think it’s Kim) Re: the Nacho joke. There is a popular Mexican restaurant where I live that was named for the original owner’s wife. When he died the restaurant passed to the daughter & her husband & when they divorced the daughter kept the restaurant & paid off her ex his share. He then opened a restaurant & called it Nacho Mama’s. It was open for about a year before he changed the name-don’t know if the name change was planned or if he was forced to change it. His restaurant celebrated its 10th anniversary last summer & his ex’s restaurant is going strong as well.

Yeah, I believe the whole scene is there to tell us that Saul told Francesca to wait for a call (supposedly on a public pay phone) at an appointed date and time, and then he calls the disappearer guy (and that means he goes immediately into hiding). So that the appointed call with Francesca is probably still in the future seen from the black and white scenes we have seen at the beginning of each season. So, in my opinion, probably in a new flashforward (at the beginning or end of season 5 or 6) we'll see that call, and maybe Francesca might connect Gene with Kim (if she's still alive) or someone else (Huell, Howard...) I'm really excited about that!!

Kim may be trying to handle Jimmy’s workload at the courthouse. Remember he was a public defendier, arguing with that same prosecutor Kim was bargaining with in this episode. Is she trying to handle Jimmy’s workload while he is on suspension and also do her work? I think she watched those court cases because she had little experience as a defense attorney and was probably doing more contract/business law in her short time as an attorney at HHM. Love your channel! This is my favorite show ever!!! 🌭🚐🪔🧱

The reason Gus and Mike didn’t hire the first guy is because he talked about a previous job he did when talking about his previous jobs. And of course, he can’t be saying anything about the lab to random people like he just did. He didn’t seem to care about risk and seemed like he was just saying it can be done to absolutely everything. He was loose lipped and sounded like he just wanted that high paying job. And yes, as a mental health professional, it helps people immensely. It’s always a big first step to begin therapy, especially if it’s your first time. But we are just people, we aren’t there to judge, even if you’re stealing Hummels to sell on eBay! Loved the reaction as always and the game session last night. Nikki facing her fears in game, loved it! 🌭 🚐 🧺 🧱

I wouldn't say Mike becomes a cold hearted killer, but he definitely "breaks bad". He is emotional when he feels a victim doesn't deserve it, but if it's his job, he will take care of business as needed. I do believe it gets easier for him by the time BB starts. P.S. We can all assume he really believed that Walt was one of those who needed to be taken out because of his pride and ego! You can see Mike felt a little bad at the laundry when Walt was begging for his life. Yet Mike knew it had to be done. Remember, when he tells the story if the DV guy, from that experience he knew certain people needed to be taken out, "no more half measures".
