I went to a benefit for AIDS she hosted in a small theater in Westwood. Cher and others were there but when everyone was gone she was cleaning up and I told her I would help. She is so real, humble and kind. She is also tiny. Fortunately most entertainers are kind but some take it to another level. She is one of those.

She was almost 70 by this time yet she was amazing, saw the tour which followed and the best experience of my life! She sang all live, her voice was in perfect shape and she was really funny! Met her after and she was engaging and lovely! She didn’t write her songs, but her interpretation of them are amazing! This special is beautifully done!

People throw the word ICON so loosely nowadays that when a real ICON like Bette Midler shows up and you say it doesn’t seem enough but this woman is really the definition of it. Love you Bette !!!!

The video is from 2014. She was 69 than. What an energy and still great voice. This woman is one of the greatest talents of the 20th century, like Barbra Streisand.

@@a.karatas953 Bette and I was together for hours at a time , she even asked to sit next to me , and then to my surprise she pulls up a chair sitting very close to me saying and lifting her legs up at the same time , saying oh my feet are so sore , " I said to her really ? And she replied yeah " then she takes off her shoes right before my very eyes and rubs her feet " that's right Bette Fans " she rubs her feet very close to me ......I wish I had a camera that would of made a great photo .....And we were alone , yes I Robert Kurt Snyder , Was alone with Bette Midler ........

I was 14 in 1979 when my parents took me to see her in the rose and I fell in love with her.

The Devine Miss M was asked to sing on Johnny Carson's last episode because we all know Bette is an extraordinary and unique talent. 🌸

Beaches, The Rose, For the Boys, Down and Out in Beverly Hills - what a wonderful talent - a spitfire personified - love her.

It's so funny to see Bette Midler interviewed by the wonderful Dame Joanna Lumley! I have ALWAYS wanted Bette Midler & Barbra Streisand to do an American 'version' of 'Absolutely Fabulous' with Midler as Edina and Streisand as Patsy. Now, I know they've never worked together (and I don't know if they like each other) but I think the two of them together would be BRILLIANT!

Absolutely lovely... I was sitting at a table in the Troubadour night club when Bette was just beginning her career. Peter Allen was on the piano. Bette came out into the crowd and proceed to stomp her high heel on my foot...ouch... that’s how I met Bette. Wow what a show she put on... thank you Bette. I look down at that tiny scar with fond memories.

Indeed a show girl, an artist a comedian.....what more one can be - I am Italian and strange enough I do love all the Jewish Ladies in show business! ❤️🌹

I first saw her live in the early 70’s touring with Barry Manilow. He performed a few songs at intermission. The whole evening was magical.

Yes, the legend was done by 1980. But, God, the divine miss m, and most of bill hennessy’s other creations were so exciting in the ‘70’s. Most abandoned his brilliant concepts.

Not only a great woman a great singer but what a lady.

I love her music and especially to see her on stage is awesome. Something about her performance is set apart from the rest. I don't think anyone really gets close to Ms. M.

Bear this in mind.... Joanne was on AYBS when it was recorded in black and white. She is amazing.

Watching this brilliance, this production from 2014, this past hour, has been a complete joy!! I have so many Bette Midler stories, but one is from the 1970s, when I would see Bette Midler by herself about Greenwich Village when she lived on Barrow Street. I lived on W.12st. Soooo long ago. 😊

An early article in the times reported Bette Midler as being born in Paterson, nj. Somehow, I think that is the truth. He twin cousins looked just like her down the road in lyndhurst.

I was one lucky guy , But I screwed everything up between Bette and I " She liked me , But I screwed everything up and insulted the hell out of her ...... I was 22 and she was 34 , when we met and almost fell in love , at sunset sound studios in los Angeles Ca.... On August 5th 1980 .....

I've seen each major (& minor) gig she's had, from her first "big" one - New Year's Eve at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion '75/'76, to Divine Madness concerts at the Pasadena Civic, to New Year's Eve '99/''00 at Mandalay Bay and beyond, Sure, there are singers with better voices, but nobody performs a song as well as she does. She owns her music choices and commands a stage like few others are able to do. This television special could only be shown in Europe. Network television in America wouldn't allow her risqué jokes. The only sub-par performance I've seen was at Paul Simon's charity event in NY, but she still rose above the unfortunate set-up and delivered.

Amazing! I would have loved to see all those gigs. I was a fan since watching Beaches every morning when I was 6. My mom took me to a show when I was 9. She was amazing. I didn’t get the Sophie jokes at the time but I love them now. 😊 I’ll be a lifelong fan. I’m almost 40 now.

She could take vocal lessons to remove the tiredness and slow vibrato. She is OK at singing but seems to need a new hair colour and style.

Jay Hartbarger: WOW!!! I've seen a taped version of that show, but never saw it LIVE. That goes WAAAAYYYY back!! It's amazing to become a fan of a talented artist, then watch as their star grows bigger & bigger.....until, one day, almost like magic, that artist becomes a favorite performer to the WORLD. So glad she's still around....and still performing, even if it's only occasionally! I'm a fan of Bette's from back in the day when many people used to say, "she's far too raunchy to become anything other than a lounge singer". HAHAHA......

Yeah, I'll never forgot that double live album she put out some time ago. And she was saying: I was in bed last night with my boyfriend Ernie, and he says to me "Soph...." (He always called me Soph ....) He says "Soph, you've got not its and a tight box!" So I said to him "Ernie, get OFF MY BACK!!!" Always put a big ol' smile on me face, that one did.....
