I am 71 and do not know a time without overt racism and sexism, as well as other inequalities, so no time to look back and yearn for. However, was there a time when I was a child that I was not aware of some things and did not care as much about the others....so the first 14 years of life but I don't yearn for those times because U.S not a good place. I am beginning to lose hope for the future..just glad I had CHOICE and had no children. white, midfle-class

Well, Bette dropped the ball on that a few weeks ago when she insulted everyone in an entire state for being backwards and illiterate. She can have her records back.

I remember the evening this aired. I was 14 years old, madly in love with Wynonna Judd's music and I still am to this day, in my 40s.

Bette should’ve received the Best Actress Oscar for “The Rose”.

That makes clear he assumes Wynona could easily overpower her IF she wanted to... What I took away from this comment, and mind you at almost 50, these two iconic women have been two of my favorites most of my life. I’ve seen both of them live. But…. We all know Wynona has this insanely powerful, belting voice, sings from her belly, and can broadcast. Bette has her own powerful set of pipes, god knows she does. But I feel like OC was saying wynona held back on her boom some, to compliment Bette, as opposed to singing over her. Not “outshine” her on her own song by any means, but Wynona has always had the lungs to carry her southern/blusey country style. Just two different style singers, collaborating in the most beautiful way, on the most beautiful song.

The power of these two women, alone, is amazing - together, it is unimaginable - so grateful for both of you, for sharing your gift with us.

today it would be the birthday of my loved mother in law (((((((((. she died in may after a short but very hard illness (10 operations in 4 weeks). happy birthday, u was the very best mother in law. i send u all good wishes, may u be on a nice place.

Gill E, it was recorded in 1995, not that long back, 26 yrs ago, it feels like only 10, she did so beautiful on that song with Wynonna, their voices were gorgeous together.

Wow,,this was perfect when Bette sang it, but what a duet with Ms Wynonna! Thank you Ms Midler for giving the world this masterpiece!!

Bette Midler is such a consummate professional... you can tell by this performance here... it comes from and is learned from many many years of practice and performing everywhere ...including gay bars in mean NYC way back in the 70s .

Notice here how Bette Midler can out perform Wynonna Judd here even though Wynonna has a better voice with more range then Bette’s. Now that’s a Legend and total professional that can do that.

When my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, her second time, she requested that this song be played two times a day (morning and night). So, I did play this song as requested two times a day until her passing. On the day of her furneal, may songs were played along with song by Dumbo (mother rocking her baby to sleep). Many tears were flowing, people blowing there noses, many boxes of tissues were used, and many hugs were spread over from row to row strangers, and families alike.

My mom passed away in 2003 of cancer I went to visit her one summer and while we were going down the road she had these songs in her car loved Bette Midler and we listened to every one of them this was 1 of her favorites.

Cherry Edward's, yes she is very unique, her voice just got more beautiful each time she sung any songs, but this song is one of my favorites as well as her big one, Wind beneath my wings, she has more beautiful songs than ever now, she is amazing
