    Nothing can beat a powerful skid steer mulcher. We had a contractor come over. He even took on a 12 inch diameter silk tree and reduced it to mulch in 15 minutes or so. The power is up front before the machine goes through it, and the mulcher can be elevated to work down on trees to the stump. His machine did not go down into the dirt any, so from the roots, the junk came back in two years. I tried the riding mower I had to keep it down, but there were too many snags for it. Your rig would have kept it down enough until it died off. If I had it to do over, I would have bought a used brush hog to fit my old tractor that would have kept it down.

    Thank you for this video! I’ve got similar woods as this and I don’t think a brush hog is the best approach. I have a challenge however. My bx1880 is under the HP/PTO req’s so I am unsure how well it could run this. How hard did it work your tractor?

  • @MJADoingStuff

    @MJADoingStuff

    They do sell another version that will run on your BX. Check the PTO specs and you can get one to match your HP. It all comes down to speed and the amount of material you wish to cut down. When I run in the thick stuff I go slow. I also suggest making sure your belts are adjusted before you start using plus order spare set of belts. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😁👍🚜💨☀️

    It would have been nice to have your bucket on. Then you could set it one inch above the ground and detect things before you hit it. It’s an old bush hog trick. I would take a battery powered chain saw like the HarborFreight ten inch. It will clear the way for you fast. Now about tics and even worse those darn chickkers. . Watch Farm Craft 101. He sprays Permethrin on his cloths at the beginning of summer. It lasts all year long. I got mine at Tractor Supply. I also spray my dogs for the same reason. Belts are usually tightened to a deflection. Like you showed but that looked awfully tight. I’m really thinking about getting a fail mower. But I would rather it hooked to the front and run off hydraulics. I’m seventy six years old and don’t like links in my neck for looking back all the time. If you carry a loopers. You can get those high branches in the first pass. If not then use that electric chain saw. That does it . Enjoyed the video and hope to see a lot more. Later
