Some people are acting like Bethesda made a mistake or something. Bethesda made exactly what they planned on making they reused assets slap them together and added a whole bunch of microtransactions. The entire point of 76 is the microtransactions anyone who thinks differently is not too bright.

For the record, you can buy a $17 santa suit from party city. A real life santa costume is cheaper than the "discounted" fallout 76 store purchase.

I think we should just call them transactions, plain and simple. Adding the micro part is just a psychological trick to make you feel like its small, inconsequential... whats a dollar here or there... or 2 dollars now and then... its not so bad, its juat five dollars, you spend more on your coffee in the morning probably, so hey its nothing, whats 10 or 15 dollars if you enjoy the game and want to support the developer, a small microtransaction of 24.99 can help keep the game going, and who wouldnt want to pay a small fee of 50 bucks to keep great games rolling out. They produce great content, easily worth a 100 bucks every other day or so. Anyone who doesnt want to pay 250 dollars doesnt have to, its all optional....

​@@wjmackenzie955 The psychological trick is actually why you buy atoms in this case and not directly WITH money. Because this way it's much more difficult to associate the monopoly money prices with real life money. It also has a side benefit of forcing you to buy more atoms than the items are worth, think about it. Why would in a digital market you need to buy a certain amount of funbucks instead of any amount you like? Microtransaction is for small transactions, transaction is for normal ones. I just use macro for anything that costs more than the game itself. Because its logical to assume that if the in game purchases tally up to more than the game, which is a transaction of funds, then its a macrotransaction.

Fallout 76 is the definition of literal Trainwreck They did worse than No Man Sky back in 2015 And they only focus on microtransactions instead of fixing the game and listening to feedback.

You can earn 1200 atoms in like 2 days. Grinding for a single champ in League of legends takes way longer than that.

I agree, as much i don't like Fortnite i can't deny it's still one polished game for free to play game.. Fallout 76 in other hand is like a dumpster, instead emptying the garbages inside it, they fill it more with other garbages and make it more stinks than before...

@Forever Outraged they still keep the game in early access so it allows them to roll out updates a lot faster than a fully released title, because when the game is stated as finished, they have to process the update or content through tests on the respective platform that it’s being released, this often times takes weeks. When it’s early access they are practically free to release updates very consistently since they don’t need all those verification tests so doesn't mean the game is full of bugs or something, it's just their business strategy..

This swamp of a mess makes me very worried for upcoming games, Elder Scrolls 6 in particular. At this point I am going to wait a month after it's fully released to see what cash grabbing schemes are implemented, before deciding to buy or not.

Djoresh - Illustrations the thing is the scope of TES V: Skyrim mods has reached the point where there is the possibility of completely new 4K everything and/or added content, completely new maps, or even mods like Enderal that just use the engine to make an entirely new game. With this in mind, it’s kind of hard to imagine Bethesda could make even new Elder Scrolls content that people care about. Even MORESO when considering we already have TES Online.

It's the nature of both business in general and the rich. It's why those with the insatiable need for money coupled with low morals usually make it to the top. It's also what drives me mad about people that defend those lot, they don't just want some money, they want beyond what they'll ever make. Same as somebody with an insatiable thirst for alcohol, they'll never drink enough, and same goes for food, power, sex and so on. They'd still want more money even if they did end up with it all.

Did we mention in comparison that for the holidays, Warframe has given 4 player icons -that can be displayed in game) and 2 holiday themed weapon skins. And that's only this year. There are also weapon skins, a pet skin, a pet accessory and a ship theme a player can purchase for a symbolic amount of in-game currency. Aside from that, they do also sell holidays skin packs at around 14€/USD. But in there, there are characters, weapons & pets skins, pet colors for customization, a cape, and boosters to top it off. They also sell holiday themed player icons displayable in-game, but compared to Fallout with their 1 to .8 €USD for a single icon, Warframe does on average a .75 to .8€/USD for a single player icon. And that thing is a free-to-play. Sort it out Bethesda.

At this point I think for some reason they’re doing this on purpose. This is pathetic.

Wrong, it's an introductory price which is allowed displaying what the price WILL be. As long as it is eventually put to that price - which they could just leave it at the sale price forever and be stuck in perpetuity. If they remove this after Christmas without increasing it to "full price" then yes you'd have a case.

In 1982, Atari released an E.T. game for the 2600. It was a rushed game and the sales were bad. Atari were already having some financial issues and that game was the last straw. They ended up burrying the game cartridges in the desert.

I always thought microtransactions were supposed to be small payments. I bet these also have a 1:1 conversion when the price comes to EUR. When you consider that 1000 EUR/month is a good wage (apart from some countries where that appears to be a minimum) spending 20 EUR on a few cosmetics suddenly becomes beyond ridiculous.

Its the problem paradox: by ignoring a small problem it grows and grows (ignorance is bliss ofc) until it becomes a very big issue... If there was pro-action before hand none of this would've happened (hindsight ofc) but instead we got a backlash (a reaction) to an even bigger problem but by that time it's already too little, too late in some aspects which means it's even harder now to solve/stop the problem than ever before (some have even "gotten used" with the problem). It's awful but it's the truth I'm afraid... :/

Yes, I'm Italian and i confirm, the conversion is 1:1 in EUR so basically in Italy the price is about 23 dollars, so i paid the collector's edition 228 dollars.. And now this "micro" transactions are the thanksgiving for us fans that support on trust this company..I'll watch my wallet first on the next bethesda title..

Wildboy789789 heroes was a dead game from the start. It’s released on a saturated market and rewards teamplay making it hard to carry teams. You can play as good as you want but it doesn’t mean shit if your team is garbage, I don’t think the loot boxes affect the game at all

FredrickTesla that’s not how it works. The product either physical or digital has to be sold into the system with a 30 day cooldown to then be legitimately reduced. You can’t put an item on sale immediately without this 30 day trade or publication history regardless of it being on sale. It’s a flat fake discount. They could sell a skin for £1 saying it cost £1m saving £999,999 - it’s shady and ultimately illegal.

My only concern is with all this backlash and negativity, what will result from all of this. Will we see a future with less games OR will game developers change up and go a better direction. The constant nit picking and bashing of the games is starting to wear on me but I do not want to see people being taken advantage of because the corporate sector of the gaming industry wants to see larger figures per quarter.

For 20 bucks I'd expect no less than +20% more game. Seriously, even paying a $1.99 for a gun skin seemed outrageous to me. But THIS is freaking insane!

Yeah... but people saw this coming with Creation Club in Fallout 4, where they were selling the same 'Color Blue' as an armor skin paint job for $5. Now that they've moved on to Atoms the price went up to $18. If Bethesda is still around long enough to launch TES6 then at this rate you'll be paying an extra $30 to get Daedric Armor.

I don't resent $20 for a really nice skin on League of Legends (they come with totally new animations voiceovers etc for the champion), because skins are their main source of revenue and are totally optional. But $20 for a fucking reskinned gun or armour, which literally anyone could basically do in fucking ms paint, is retarded. The skins on FO76 are absoluetely not worth it. They're low-effort and low-value, and extremely overpriced for what they actually change.

I'm genuinely surprised that I never see anyone talk about how bad the prices are in Fortnite. Yes it's a free game but how does that excuse charging $15-30 for ONE skin? The game plays like a $30 indie game so if they charged that's how much it should be and one skin shouldn't amount to the cost of the entire game. Yes they have the battle pass which is actually a great price and the only thing worth it in that game. I don't know how so many people support and actually buy cosmetic clothes for $20 or more when you can literally buy REAL clothes for cheaper. And then people wonder why microtransactions are taking over... As someone who rarely ever pays for microtransactions (only if it's actually reasonable) it makes me genuinely sad gaming has headed in that direction because of a big bunch of idiots who keep giving them money for shit all.

Okay, I'll be honest I tried, I _tried_ to defend Bethesda for their failure. But at this point they are literally just saying "Hey, we know we fucked up. Oh by the way here's some fucking low quality pictures that we made in half an hour for 12 dollars.

The culture at Bethesda has changed somewhere between Skyrim and Fallout 4. I am no longer looking forward to Elder Scrolls 6.

I think it changed shortly after new Vegas. Because after that in Skyrim came out and they decided to quasi abandoned in the Fallout IP for 8 years and they didn't even really work on the engine that much because Fallout 4 was horrible it was not a Fallout game it was a shooter with shit rpg elements. He'll even the dlc model changed with fallout skyrim and fall out 4

Many words… The whole situation is generational, and we’re the old people complaining that gaming ain’t what it used to be. People now have been brought up with mobile gaming. Nearly everyone has their head buried in a smart phone and have become used to MTX and gambling as the norm. That report in the UK saying gambling among young people has rocketed is not a surprise because the mobile market which is dominant has gone unchecked for so long. It’s a problem that’s been allowed to escalate to this point because no one has stopped it. Consumers are the cattle on which corporations feed. Addiction is what they use to keep you consuming. To say that gambling being introduced into gaming is a benefit to the consumer or the game is simply a lie. It’s there to keep you playing. It’s addiction, it’s real, it’s the same as marketing cigarettes to kids in the hope they’d become addicted to them becoming life-time smokers. That games that have survived this long without being tainted is honestly a miracle. So much is designed to sell to you and ‘keep you engaged’. Sure there’s always been advertising, but it’s within the last few years that it’s got to the point that it’s become insidious, and it won’t stop because the addicts keep consuming. There be whales! Whales, a gambling term now being used to refer to gamers. You buy in-game currency like you would in-house chips with which to play. This is not by accident, it’s the same reason casinos do it, because chips don’t feel like you’re betting with real money. Games being designed to keep you playing, you grind but you still get the rewards. They tweak and they change the algorithm to the point that it gets as much money as it can, but keeps you playing. The games are designed to do this. Playing at a casino is entertainment, they’re games. The endorphins from winning are the same as those you get from getting rewards in game. The only difference is that the house gets to keep all your money. Anyone that tries to convince you otherwise is either an addict or a sociopath. The market is too rich, too tempting. So tempting these organisations will break laws because it’s worth it to do so. Governments have been too slow in reacting. They’ve failed to protect a generation who’ve become gamblers, who accept this as how games are. I genuinely believe the industry is beyond saving, it is a cancer that’s spread too far already.

I considered myself a hard core fan of the fallout series playing every availably game to date ,and even attempting to find the fun side of 76 while playing with friends and overlooking things like the bag f**up the lack of intresting npc's (fun-ish) stuff I enjoyed 1: murgle the cat 2 :rose the raiders quest 3:flying manikins when shoot 4:being able to play a fallout game with friends . . . .BUT with one issue after anther iv just become more and more disheartened and they far outweigh the fun iv had, 1: the delay on getting to play the early access (as it reinstalled) so I couldn't play until two days later THEN to find I still couldn't play as you could only log in ,at certain times/days (-.-) 2:having to pay for beta testing . . . . .why? just why? 3: the glitches (oh soooo many) figured they'd mainly be fixed on launch but no . . . .no the enemy is still stuck in the floor (-.-) iv named him Giles the un-helpful floor butler 4; the constant lag when playing with friends (making me have to play alone . . . .the exact opposite of why I want to play the game 5: the storage cap ,In a game where about the only cool thing left for me to do is build epic weapons and bases . . . .I can only store 600weight and I now cant even build half the stuff from fallout 4? so now what do I do? 6: the delay on pre order props (still yet to arrive) . . . . . 7:the only story element I started to find intresting (after the main story quest forgot it was a story and disappeared with my floor butler ,was (rose the raiders npc quests) and my fav part was living with murgle the cat . . . . . just to have them reset when I join a friend and the more progress I made in the game the more rinse repeat it becomes 8: soooo . . . . .then Christmas rolls round ,I pop in gta to play with a friend and low and behold a free $900.000 in game car, over 70 free festive clothes a free lazer rifle thing and a firework launcher . . . . .then . . . . . .*sigh (-.-) then I pop on 76 . . . . . .£20 for a Santa suite . . . . sorry to go on I dont expect a response but I am struggling to find any good points any more, for a time I attempted to defend certain aspects but now I just find the whole thing depressing soooo im going to look forward to (The Outer Worlds) and hope I get somewhat of what used to be a fallout-ish game from that.

The irony is that they called it the coming to town pack and yet, there are no towns.

I am getting sick and tired of the constant and never ending stream of fu*k-ups from Bethesda. Here's what to do: Fire Todd Howard, refund players for this FO76 desaster and start over with a new engine. For now and the near future Bethesda is dead to me. People should support independant designers - support fresh talents and diversity. By doing so we all get decent games later. I rather wait a while and play older games which work than throwing tons of money in the money sinks of greedy producers who lost touch with the gaming community.

After devotedly following this studio since Daggerfall, this entire Fallout 76 debacle (and how the company has handled it) has made me so leery of Bethesda, I cannot say that I will ever buy another game from them.

I remember, a while ago, hearing "I'll pre-order Bethesda games. They never let me down. I wanna support them". And I was just shaking my head.

I support them, but my wallet doesn't support garbage like this. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to terrorize people and butt-fuck a Scorchbeast Queen decked out in Santa Shaped Power Armor, but... I ain't spending money I could use to buy Legendary/Ultimate skins in a game like League of Legends, or Packs of Cards in MTG:A(Of which I don't even need to do...I love free stuff)

after the new update this morning , they removed the "%off" tag on the santa/mrs santa an the emotes BUT the "adjusted" price still remains as its base indicting the "original" price was just a trumped up charge.

I never understood the appeal of Bethesda and how insanely apologetic everyone was towards their glitch-infested games and lackluster graphics, but with FO76, they hit a new low, and I'm glad people are finally waking up to these scummy practices.
