I have to thank you the fact that you DO take the time to explain even the simplest and basic concepts so even debutants can understand you. It is a HUGE added value to your videos, something missing in other KZreadrs that are maybe for more experienced audience with the same high quality content but hard for some of us to follow. Yea as a dog I'm going to build my first PC end of this year.
Yo watched this like 5 times and am a bit torn What's ur opinion on Asus Pro Art X670e vs the Asus Strix Gaming x670e-e? I'm building a new workhorse pc that is literally all purpose from 4k editing to high end VR gameplay and recording, streaming etc. I'm really torn between the 2. I don't need the 10gb lan but the usb 4 seems nice to have, the 16+2 power phase concerns me but I only plan on using the automatic overclocking features of the 7950x would this be enough? Full build should be 4090, 1300w psu, 32gb 6000 ddr5 and a 7950x. Only reason I passed on the asrock x670e tachi was the lack of the lower pcie lane but if you feel that would be a better option i'm still considering it! Any guidance would be appreciated!
Don’t plan on doing my first ever build until around January. Have been watching everything for almost a year. Hoping by then things cool down and maybe AMD will have their GPUs out by then too. Your videos are the best explaining at bang for buck hardware.

@Shorts Kittu Cats All the Jason in one thread! lol You can edit 4k on a 6700xt, it'll just take a long time compared with its' nVidia counterparts. AMD GPUs are a solid choice for gaming, but for productivity and multitasking, nVidia still has a significant advantage, apples to apples. Given nVidia's recent behavior, I don't blame anyone wanting to avoid them, but time is money after all.

Price vs benefit..you have a 5900x variant cheaper than 5800x3d anytime time you want, which is also a gaming perspective ugrade...so, a value only for 350 to 450$ more vs 1000+$ cpu,mb,ram of 7000 series to last more than 3 years..Even for a new built...
Hey! Great video, but Im asking if u could do some type of video when the B series launches with some kinda of build with the new 7600x... it would be cool cuz im trying to build my first pc and idk if I should wait for this new series of cpu/mb/ram... so yeah thanks anyways for the great video ;D

I only just watched this having made my purchase 2 weeks ago (ASUS TUF Gaming plus WiFi) and pleased that you liked it. I went for this because I needed a decent motherboard to go with the 7900 that so impressed me at low power. If you're spending this much, I reckon the lower midrange is best and I don't mind paying an extra 10% for a fuller set of capability (even if I don't need it now), a nice look + I like ASUS boards. Glad you covered it and keep up the good stuff.

Awesome video PC Builder! I bought yesterday the ASRock X670E Steel Legend with ryzen 9 7950x and the sweet spot ddr5 g.skill tridentZ5 neo RGB 6000mh 16gb x2 cl30! Glad to see this motherboard in your recommended section. I was a bit worried about audio but I will see later how it sounds. It's ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS especially with these x670e motherboards where the price is around $500 just for the motherboard and then $300 for the cheapest cpu. You can almost build a pretty decent PC ( as long as you're willing to buy a used gpu) for the same cost as the mobo and cpu. IT'S FU@KING RIDICULOUS
I have just purchased the ASROCK 670XE PRO RS for my Ryzen 7900x be at home with. Never spent a great deal on a motherboard in the past so this was quite expensive for my liking (£350 gbp). The audio codec isn't really a issue for me as if i want to improve that you can by other means. But all the other stuff is very nice and it does look great.

Thanks Jason! I need USB ports more than PCI-E slots and I don't overclock much... sounds like I may get the most basic board just for longevity purposes. New Sub I was wondering a few things off topic. I'm thinking about getting a new high end Laptop from either CLX or Falcon NW the DRX or OSISIS. Which in your opinion is the coolest temp cpu i7 10700k 11700k 12700h 3,5 ghz i9 11900k
Honestly gr8 work u r doing. U made the explanation so much easy, I was getting more n more focussed in what u were saying. Keep it up. Btw, want to get ur opinion on a PC build that I wana do. I was originally planning to do a DDR4 build with 5900x for main use of running VMs, which would make it more affordable. But since Ryzen 7000 launched, which shows a lot of performace uplift, like crossing 5+ GHz, I literally got excited. But then I learned the bitter truth, that is, Expensive CPU + Expensive MOBO + Expensive RAM + Expensive SSD PCIe5. And since AMD mentioned only for it to be there till like late 2025, should I go with Ryzen 7000 or going with 5900x/64GB RAM DDR4/1TB SSD Gen 3, will have me covered for like next 10 years for mostly running VMs?
@PCBuilderChannel
Жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I think that 5900X build will be an absolutely beast. But you might want to wait a bit and see how the Ryzen 7000 performance numbers change when the next gen gpus become available next month. For more on that see the 7900X build we did on the channel. The launch of the new Intel CPUs and Black Friday will also likely affect Ryzen 5000 and Ryzen 7000 pricing so it might not hurt to give it a few weeks and see what happens.
Now this is what I was waiting for.
Awesome videos, can you also make ram comparison for zen 4.

Picked up a 7700x with the free 32 gig ram promo from microcenter but waiting on boards. Getting a cheaper board with no PCIe5 or only 1 just does not seem to make much sense unless you plan on ripping out the board to replace it in the future. Features wise, as a content creator, I REALLY like the idea of the Asus Pro Art.... dual PCI-e 5 if I want to run dual gpus, more importantly for some fast NVMEs to work off of locally and transfers.... (each video I do is easily 100 to 200 gigs). And of course the idea of thunderbolt sounds great for color grading monitors and transferring files to either a DAS... OR 10 gig ethernet if transfering to a NAS... oh.... and it does not look like the neon/RGB fairy spit up all over it. lol. Yes, it's $500... but seems more like a "buy once, cry once" proposition for at least the next 5 years or so. with the cheaper boards... its like might as well have stayed on Ryzen 5000 and X570. =) And I am guessing the new Radeon cards coming out in November will be PCI-e 5.0.

Great video, thank you, but I'd like to hear/learn more about "audio codecs" on motherboard... How to know which ones are high quality and which ones are not, and what exactly is the purpose of "audio codec", what's that thing exactly, how can you use it, is it for headphones, speakers or what, etc... :)
@PCBuilderChannel
Жыл бұрын
On x670 it is pretty binary because there are no boards with "middle step" codecs like the ALC1100, ALC1200, etc. They are either entry level ones ALC897, or they immediately jump up to the best available (ALC1220 & ALC4080). I do expect we'll see some more of the middle step ones in B650 as board makers look to trim costs down a bit more. When we do the best motherboard for Ryzen 7000, we will do an audio section and go into codecs a little more in detail - just waiting for B650 to launch.

What motherboard would you recommend for a ryzen 7 7700x with a 3080 and I would like to be able to upgrade these in the future so what mother board would be slightly over kill but after some upgrades would be perfect.
Any of these more expensive options would bring an advantage for people looking into building high end VR systems?

Hey, when are you going to revisit this clip? Willing to build for AM5, and your video was really helpful. Was wondering if the Asus ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI or Asus TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI are still the ways to go and if you still recommend those. Thanks!

You’re welcome 😊 Thanks for watching!
Personally I have done some upgrades of my desktop computers in the past but the main system I never changed, my first computer I did upgrade the memory once but I wouldn't do that now, I also upgraded the graphics card but that was only once, what I upgraded the most are my hard drives. I always find myself adding more hard drives at a later point. I'd recommend to get the best system you can buy for the budget, that is everything except for the graphics card and hard drives, just get the bare minimum hard drive space to run the OS on but get the best hard drive there is for the space that you need, get the best graphics card that you can buy for your budget but since you can always get a better graphics card later I'd have a higher priority for the core parts that you aren't going to upgrade later so I'd get a bit lesser GPU to start out and use the money for better core parts and buy the best GPU later if I have to. I've always built my system with future proofing in mind but the last couple times that I've built my systems I haven't upgraded anything except for more hard drive space, didn't need to upgrade the GPU or anything else and my latest system I'm using for about 10 years now, with the same hardware and I only added more hard drives. Now to keep up with the latest games I have to buy a complete new system so upgrading this old system doesn't make any sense and I think that most people do this, just keep that in mind when you buy a complete new system that the whole future proofing thing isn't really necessary and over the top and most likely you'll never even make use of it because by the time that those new hardware components are out you'll need to buy a complete new system anyways because you'll be using the old system for years and years already and it won't make sense to upgrade the old system anymore.
what combo do you recommend . Ryzen mobo combo. im building my 1st pc
So exited for this video we need a best cooler and memory video next!!!!

absolutly love the videosssss but 13th gen intel might put ryzen 7000 on the chopping block becuase ddr4 and you can use older z690 like you said pcie gen 5 ssds are useless but z690 does support pcie 5.0 x16 bandwith for extra extra furureproofing

pcie gen 5 graphics cards would be a game changer. Even if it wouldn't saturate a gen 4 16x lanes bc i would then have no qualms about running it at gen 5 8x lanes. This would then save me 8 lanes which i could use for a whole lot of different things
Thanks for the round-up. I went with the Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Gene. I wanted a mATX board and I didn't mind the high price since I'll keep this board through several generations of future AMD CPUs and it had all the enthusiast features I wanted in a compact form factor, such as USB4 and three M.2 slots. It is a beautifully-engineered board which looks great, too.
do you think nzxt will be launching an am5 socket mobo?
do premium ALC codecs matter (ALC 4080) if you're just gonna plug your motherboard into a DAC/Amp or receiver?
To celebrate getting a permanent job, I just ordered an upgrade kit with the asrock x670e with a 7700x and 32gb corsair ram, really looking forward to it! Do I still need to use Realtek for my audio driver though? Or has that finally changed with the codec on this board? RealTek can be such a pain to get to work and is updated very infrequently. I can't even download the app from the microsoft store lol. EDIT: after watching the full video I changed my order to buy all parts separately and go with the asrock x670e steel legend. That sounds way better for just a few euro's more. Very sad that overall everything is more expensive in the EU. The 7700x costs 470 eu and the mobo is 380 eu... That's an insane difference. The lighting variant is 330eu so might as well get a better board.
how are these x670e boards same price or cheaper than a regular x670? might as well just go for the 670e
Great review, so I'm going with Asus ROG crosshair x670e extreme!

Thank you! Nice!
Have you tried installing Win 10 onto a gigabyte board? It seems to lack the driver necessary for the NVME M.2 drive and their website doesn’t have a driver for it either.
I’m so grateful I found this channel. Quality content, straight to the point, useful info without bombarding us with ads and multiple sponsors per video like LTT. Thank you!!

It's great. I like so many KZread tech people in this space. I like LTT, GN, Paul, PC Builder, Gamers Meld, etc, all for different reasons. You all do a different style video, deliver different levels of entertainment, and some deliver information more quickly than others. Some are more detailed, some are more summarized. But I like it all. So cheers. Even though I've already seen two other AM5 motherboard videos, I'm still watching you.

Running a 5800x rn. I might go for a 7950X with the Asus Tuf board. Seems nice for the "price"
Thank you sooo much for this. I was looking at MB's last night to price and what features to look for. I have always gone with Asus. I work on my PC and occasionally game on it. I was looking at the Asus x670E.... Would going for more features like PCIE5 future proof and yes I know that doesn't really work buuut I did it with my old machine and I am still working with it to this day but now after +6-10 years it's showing it's age. Would love your insight. Thanks!

So glad this was helpful! I found the current Asus options pretty overpriced (we do go through them in the recommendation section) but they are beautiful boards.

@@PCBuilderChannel Yup Asus has always been overpriced but I have loved their build quality. I wonder if and when the prices are going down. I might have to wait until next year.
Great video. Still seriously doubt I upgrade my X470 until B750 arrives, at which point DDR5 prices should be much better.

Thanks for all this great info. I admit to being overwhelmed. I feel a learn a lot but know less than before. Would you please consider an occasional video is targeted for those of us who are not hobbyist but are embarking on a rare build because we will learn something, its a good project with my grandson, and the nice sense of accomplishment. I'm really looking for good ways to find my sweet spot system.

We try to do a number of videos for new and returning builders. Start with our PC Parts explained video in the "How to build a PC" playlist on the main channel page to get started and we offer a number of general videos on RAM, CPUs, GPUs, and more there too along with specific build guides. Hope that helps!

Best value IMO is the Steel Legend. Even tho I'd probably go for the MSI PRO x670-P, but that is now also sold out.

If I buy sound card, does it help with bad audio codec with lower end motherboards?
Also if the ASRock X670E taichi Carrara does not have duel can you see the newest amd mrotherboard does have duel bios
If i heared you right you said that there are no pci-e gen 5 graphics cards available and wont be for a long time. Isnt the new lineup from amd coming in like 6 weeks based on gen 5 pci-e?
