This is a very good video. Thanks for posting this. I am doing shows as a vocalist and instumentalist and want the freedom not to be bound a mic position and stage geomometry.

I have a dpa for 15 years - it was really expensive and still works without issues - but the sennheiser is more "musically" to me, more three dimensional - it takes the reverb better. IMHO

Now just ro find some for my highschool drama program

Just an observation about the Sennheiser HSP. I share your frustration regarding the clips being difficult to work with, and it's somewhat difficult to get the mic in the correct position. What I found recently, though, was that by using the metal clip at the end of the earpiece, and only ONE of the plastic clips, (the one closest to the mic side) the mic is able to extend closer to the mouth , and seems less prone to coming unclipped. Thank you for posting this, it gives me some ideas about less expensive alternatives!

I'd use em all and eq it the way you need it to sound

Great video. Thanks for posting this. I agree with your assessments 100%. I purchased 20 of the JKs. I found they sound almost as nice as the Countryman, but the headbands are awful. I have another musical this spring. I am going to try threading the mic through the actors hair with the element above their forehead. (Actually recommended placement by DPA.). I'm going to look into purchasing the Sampson headband and put the JK mic on it. By the way, replacement cables for the JKs are only $13.00.

Thank you so much for such an informative review. I have one question, would any of these mics be able to be used without the earpiece? In other words, could the wire be taped on? I have a small children and those headsets tend to be too big.

Very surprised/impressed with the sound of the JK! It is not at the level of the Countryman or DPA, but what a bargain!

Update - we had two JK, one has survived after several shows, one bit the dust after two shows.

We only had sennheiser transmitters on hand which have different connectors so just a compatibility issue.
