Best Western Reserve Trail Sections -AOAA November

We found the best cruising and riding sections on the Western Reserve of AOAA on Honda CRF150r and Honda CRF230F dirt bikes. Thanks Steve and Blaze for exploring AOAA with us!
Foliage riding at Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) in November of 2017. We met Steve and Blaze and had a great day exploring the far West section of the Western Reserve!
Zach and Carter Adventures follows the adventures of two brothers. Those adventure videos have shifted to dirt biking with Zach and Dad, as Carter's dirt biking interest fades. Meanwhile, Zach's skills are improving. Still a lot of fun!
We film our videos with one camera, a GoPro Hero Session 5. That's it! It looks like a black ice cube. Sometimes, we'll use the back up camera, an older Go Pro, a GoPro Hero. They have become much cheaper. Here's a link to check the Hero Session 5 price: amzn.to/33QpUxT
But, here's the camera we want, a GoPro Hero Black. amzn.to/3qyDBv9
Same camera with a boat load of accessories: amzn.to/2VJN3xx

You should cherish these interactions with your son. He will be all grown up before you know it.

Thanks so much for these videos. Im trying to learn AOAA better so my kids can have an enjoyable ride. I’m getting back into riding after a 20 year layoff - picked up a YZ250FX in September. I bought my son a KLX140L and my daughter a TRX250x last Christmas and they mostly ride on our 4 acre property in Maryland - just a short little loop I made in our woods. In early October we rode AOAA for the first time - hopefully after that day its not the last. We definitely went on some trails we had no business riding on the East side and then got lost on the West side. My daughter did great on the rocks but after nearly 5 hours she had enough. The day we rode it had rained the prior 3-4 days so things were very wet and slick. My son kills me on the KLX. That bike handled everything my 250FX did - plus more. It has plenty of torque and since he can paddle his feet on the ground, he can do terrain I won’t on my bike. The 250FX is pretty tall - on dirt its fine but on uneven rocky terrain not being able to touch is a bit intimidating. Thanks again for these videos. Im trying to mark a map up so we can return. Good to know there are some good beginner trails for the kids.

Glad you like the videos! We just made and posted a video for beginners. It's based on my youngest son's first trip to AOAA. In that video, we marked a map with areas to ride and areas to avoid. It might be helpful. Here's a link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qa2ZuM-ak67fldI.html Sorry to hear you got lost on the West side. It's easy to do. Steve gave us great advice in this video. He told us to stay between the two mountains, then, ride East to get back to the parking lot! We've followed this rule a number of times!

BTW, AOAA suggests an app for your phone called Mapzika. You can download AOAA maps for both the Eastern and Western Reserve. The app does a lot of great things, but, most importantly, it shows you where you are on the map, so you can stay out of trouble!

That's a great question! We definitely know where you do NOT want to ride with a young rider! On Zach's first day on the 150R, first 15 minutes, we ended up on a rock pile of a trail which nearly ruined his excitement about the new bike. Zach and Carter suggested watching the video of Carter's first trip to AOAA. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qoGWucaFoN3WZKw.html But, unfortunately, in that video, we didn't really show where we were riding on a map. We'll throw together a video with our recommendations and splice in some map pictures so you'll know exactly where to ride!

Here's a better reply than my first reply! We re-edited an older video of my youngest son's first trip to AOAA. He was in the beginner category at this time and it was important to us that he had a fun day, without any nightmare-ish trails. This video version includes trail maps that pop up and show you important intersections, as well as our opinions on where to not ride. I hope this is helpful and makes your trip a fun one! @@ethancolbert6090 That place is a lot of fun! We call it the Playground. It's an old pit but the ground is hard like a skate park. The trick is to ride as far West as possible, then, look for a big pond. If you find the pond, then, you find the Playground. This video has a map to find the Playground at 31:08. It also follows our ride along the Southern trail section that's currently open and will take you to the Playground. Here's a link to the video kzread.info/dash/bejne/foSlxNuOdbOcgco.html
