What I can take from this and Apple’s whole upgrade process is, buy your phone outright, trade your old one in and pay it off clean from Apple. Don’t get locked into a carrier, your thoughts on them can change drastically throughout 36 months; secondly, buy it if you can afford it, don’t get into debt for a phone that arguably does the same thing your current phone does.
@Techthusiasm

That's really such a better way to go. Never go into debt for any of this stuff. If you are legit OK to stick for 24 - 36 months though, I am OK with the carrier deals, but you can definitely get stuck by them later on.
Thanks Jermy, we're finally trading our XS Maxes in on 15 Pro Maxes. We use AT&T and will continue. Been waiting for the USB-C port forever it seems. Looking forward to Wifi 6E, 5G and the upgraded camera features as well. The Titanium case is a bonus too.

@gjhunter9326

@@mavs9119 36 mo, zero interest financing, so you take the price of the phone and divide by 36 and you have the monthly rate. All taxes and fees are due at the time of purchase. Trade ins are where any incentives come to play rather than the subsidized discounts of yesteryear.
Thank you
I've been thinking of switching to T-Mobile also but I think I'll do the ATT trade in with my iPhone12 Pro Max. Thanks for doing this!

I think you might missed a big point. The sim free option is no longer available for Apple Card’s monthly payments. It means that you have to choose big three carriers if you want to pay monthly. I couldn’t find more information for that. I heard that Apple just changed the policy at August. This is a big deal breaker for me and I believe I’m not the only one.
@TheNebulaEffectMinecraft

If u can’t buy it outright just don’t do it at all because u simply can’t afford it. Also if you are financing, more times than not if you will actually end up paying more than the phone itself by the time it’s said and done.

I would be careful upgrading. Last year when the new Apple Watch came out, we added those to our line and suddenly our AT&T plan change in the store said it didn’t do it.
Great video but indecisive whether to upgrade directly from Verizon or Apple.
Thanks for this video! Been looking for someone on YT to explain it better, the trade-in deals. Sucks for me because FAIK I'll be getting little to nothing of a deal, since I only recently, 2-3 months ago, leased my 14 PM, though I REEEALLY want that shiny blue 15 PM (purple just isn't my thing). So I could ask Verizon if I can get away with not paying my entire arm and a part of my leg, they'll still have the saw ready to take even half off 🤣 (Sorry, it was the best I could think of)

Ugh, that's rough. Did they make it right in the end?
There’s a catch on the carrier deals: you can’t do dual esims when you travel abroad. You’re locked into only them, which is weird since you’re just trying to add a line not replace it. Another thing that sucks on att is that their insurance is through a sketchy third party (Asurion) who besides being unable to repair your phone abroad, may replace your parts with unofficial ones. So pro tip if you want insurance, don’t get theirs and get apple care as soon as you get your device. I still stick with att because they’re the most flexible with Mexico/USA data needs. And that’s why I’m sticking with trading in directly with apple and do the up next since I need apple care anyways. Only do carrier deals if you really have to and your phone is old.

When we have traveled abroad with AT&T, I like the international plan. Basically pay the $10/day or whatnot and use your phone like you would in the US. We got hit for a few dollars when took our cruise earlier this year though, as that is a different deal in terms of data.
@adalarce
10 ай бұрын
True, it's not bad for a few days, but for longer stays you can pretty much do a months worth of data for 3 days of att intl. Yeah careful with those cruise fees add up quick, they got their own network on intl waters@@Techthusiasm

I know nothing about iphone plans but someone just told me they were put on a plan where there were three different phones, paid for one got the others free but the main phone is the only phone they can use to make payments on... can someone please tell me if this is true or not and maybe explain to me how this stuff works I think I am being lied to....😑😑😑
I’m trading my old XS (70% battery life and stops reading my SIM card sometimes) on Verizon trade in deal. They give $800 (130 and 670 bill credit) for iPhone 15 pro as I’m on 5G do more plan so I don’t need to change the plan. I usually change the phone after I pay off my device so it’s ok with me as long as they don’t change my plan.

Plus there is an activation fee every time you upgrade
awesome video really helps alot! ultimatly do you think it would be better to buy an iphone 15 ($800) and sell my current 12 Pro (Approx. $500) and then just pay the extra $300 difference for upgrade, or do the trade in deal but get lured into a more expensive carrier plan but get a phone on the house??

It's not really better, it's what suits you best. Are you comfortable staying with a carrier for up to 3 years to maximize the deal? Would you prefer to just do and own everything outright? What kind of plan are you on now and would you have to change to get a good trade deal? For me, it works fine, for others maybe not.

Trade in deals assume a phone is in working condition with not visible damages. If you try to trade in with that, you will get far less actual value credited.
ya… i ran the numbers for my self.. single line your better off doing mvno (boost, mint putchase a year worth plan) and buying the phone outright which does suck.. but find a 0% apr card for x amount of time and finance it.. im gonna wait till 16 to actually buy a new phone. 13 pro still working great for now, does suck that apple/goldman sachs wont fnance it anymore only reason i got there card
It's a bit confusing with AT&T. If you trade in your phone and you still have a balance on it, you have to pay off the remaining balance. So now, they have your old phone, plus your money which essentially means it is not a trade-in because you paid for it?

T-Mobile has some of the best carrier deals, assuming your plan allows. You should be able to turn the 12 Pro Max in and get $1,000 of credit applied some up front and the rest over the next 2 years. I aviod the Verizon store since they set up hubby's phone and never told us (we are seniors) about Find My Phone so it was never turned on. Then hubby lost his phone on a solo photo shoot in a forest! When told to use Find My Phone we learned of that feature but that it was not turned on. Nightmare!
