Actually many plans give installment discounts or if you do a trade in you'll be paying minimal for a new phone. The catch is is you don't keep the plan for 3 years you lost those discounts and must pay off in full.

I love the “buy the last year phone” strategy. I got a deal on a brand new iPhone 13 for just $430 cash back in October and its pretty much the exact same as the 14 for way less, and then I have service from an mvno for just $30/mo

It’s ridiculous the deals you can get at the end of a product’s life cycle, or after the new one is released.

I feel like one key to this is to not plan to replace your phone when it is in its worst condition if you don’t make much money. When I think of paying instalments I imagine the anxiety of having a good device that works would push you to pay for instalments if you don’t have too much money as your mentality would be that you can pay every month rather than pay all at once and go without for a bit. Replacing a phone when it’s aging but not in terrible condition gives enough cushion to save up for another phone.

Thank God for guiding me to your channel a while back because I totally agree with you on everything it’s better to go for owning a phone right off the bat instead of being in a contract for 2-3 years and I’m proud to say I own my 12 pro max now after 2years w no scratches or dents on the phone 💪🏾 and independent but I really enjoy T-Mobile for their service for over 2 years and that balance is key and people our age need to take time off social media sometimes it’s the best feeling ever no drama or anything I enjoyed summer 2018 with no Social media and didn’t regret deleting anything..if young people needed to know the truth you gotta know what purpose are you serving with your phone what also helps is putting your phone somewhere out of proximity

I still have my iPhone 6s and I’ve had my phone for 8 years but I’m continually researching what kind of iPhone to get and the pricing of them and I agree that a contract is a scam and it doesn’t do any good either especially when you pay off that phone and the phone company will try to keep you in contract just because they can

I have a completely different takes. If you, for example are someone who is strictly making payment on time and paying in full, could get 0% APR on anything for 60 months or shorter, I say it is WORTH IT IMO because interest-free I.e. no penalty no extra cost and such, as long the payment is not greater than 25% of your monthly income. Obviously it better to pay FULL IN CASH but who the heck could with the high price tag on necessity these days? Average American has 400 dollars in savings for goodness sake. Let look at the below example. Let say I signed up for 12 month financing with no interest on the iPad Pro 12.9 M1 for $750 after tax at Best Buy. I putted $300 cash down which brings down my debt to $450. $450 divided by 12 months equates to $37.50 per month without interest. $37.50 / 2 pay check per month = 19.00!!! So $19.00 automatically deducted from employer to the checking acct for future payment due on specific date. $20 per paycheck for 12 months are obviously do-able and affordable. Of course, not everyone faces the same outlook as I do. BOTTOM LINE: financing isn’t all that bad especially when it offers 0% rate and doesn’t come close to the half of the monthly income. Just my POV.

Unlocked phones are great imo. I don't have to be a slave to one network or hassled and put on a payment plan. Usually you can get a better phone for the price.

Well said. Nobody would pay full freight for a 3 year old flagship, but that's what you're doing if you sign up for one of these financing plans. Save your money and buy last years model half off.

I totally agreed with you!! I paid off my 14 Pro Max feels pretty good not worrying about making payments no more. It’s true if you leased an Phone your paying more than the phones worth. phones loose their value through out the time. Verizon kept sending me upgrade my phone so nah 🤣🤣🤣🤣

iPhone depreciate gracefully so I’m ok buying 1 new & user it longer it I wanna save till a big upgrade. I buy it directly from apple unlocked so I’m not tied to anyone. U make a good point about being locked into a carrier plan & locked phones. Not to mention reduced resale value when u choose to sell & move on As for a home, I consider that investment if I’m mortgage at 3.6% but used cash to get 6%. Of it helps U make money. Uni: i didn’t need the clout of a top school for a psych PhD. UCLA is local so got the discount & no housing cost & only q short drive I even support the local city schools if they get U something U need. Always keep learning. Keep he good work. (: Agree what U say about the less popular jobs.

how did a $1000 per year purchase prevent you from buying a house? Sounds like you had some more crazy spending going on and you're just blaming it on the iPhone for some reason.

Many people dont realize that most phones made in the last 3-5 yr have the capabilities to do everything just as well as the newest phones and those phone will likely last for another 2-4 yrs.

@Mr.Bryan1234 yes, they will. You will get better performance from newer SOC. While benchmarks may Show good gains. Performance in apps will be marginal. The A13 is capable of doing everything the A15 can with marginal difference in performance. The only thing that will likely see drastic differences is something super niche like windows emulation on android.
