Thanks for your video. I do like the vintage fade (I'm from that time period) when people wanted their jeans to fade and soften so washed them a lot. A lot of people also wanted them to be snug, both men & women. I machine wash my denim. I turn them inside out though I didn't used to do that. It's just that Levis are so expensive now so I'm more careful. Since I'm a small woman I actually like them to shrink. The waist always stretches out anyway as you wear them. Yes, they feel tight but after a couple of hours they are more comfortable.

if u wanna get them a little stiff again u can always use starch spray all over the jeans. it makes it a bit more stiff but not even close to the original rigid feel.

I've never machine washed my denim before, but i reckon adding some dark colored bed sheets or towels in your load might help with color loss and stiffness, as it's not being as heavily soaked as being by themselves in the washer (?). Just a thought!

I used to wash my raws in the tub but it’s such a pain that I just use washer and dryer now. I haven’t noticed a difference at all except machine is prob cleaner lol

I think you're attributing more to the wash than to the denim itself and the way each particular pair was dyed. Had these been two of the same jeans I think the results would have told a rather different story. FWIW, I have long given up on pampering jeans with bathtub washes---just use cold water and especially short cycles if that is possible (my machine lets you wash tap water cold for 14 minutes and no spin), and this keeps away the unwanted marbling and indigo loss.

I agree you get to a point where it doesn't excite you anymore and not worth the extra energy

Is is possible to re-dye clothing? I bought a beautiful pair of hbt trousers but I didn’t anticipate how bad the dye would run off after a food stain. Thank you

Dylon available in many colours, worth a try, i wash my black cotton clothes in it once every 2-3 months, i hate it when black starts to get that whiteish grey look, it works a treat

@JamesHerlihy i like your passion for denim!. Yes, Cone was a great company. The culture was focused on local businesses, families, and respect for fellow coworkers. And they didnt go out of business, they were acquired by a private equity group in 2004. The founder of that equity group was later appointed to US Secretary of Commerce by Pres Trump. Fascinating history in that company.
