You are the man!! I added a Vizio sound bar to a Samsung TV with a DIRECTV genie. I was not able to program the Visio sound bar with the genie remote and had to use two remotes. The Samsung remote was not changing the volume even though it was a digital output. I reset the genie remote and went through the process of pairing it with the TV and then pairing it with a VIZIO Sound Bar and I’m all set. Thank you very much. Well done.

It took code #35 of 76 before my volume worked. I was about to give up but thought I may as try all of them. Once I pressed "It worked", my remote worked perfectly, so keep trying all of them! Thank you!

Great video! I looked at several videos but none of them made any sense. Thank you for showing all the steps and for explaining why each step needs to be done. Our Golden Retriever chewed up one remote but I was still able to program it. Highly recommend this tutorial. Thank you!!

Thank you for your video. I have a Yamaha arts-1080 soundbar and Samsung 4k tv (connected via HDMI ARC). With your videos help I got the DIRECTV remote controlling the tv and only the volume on the soundbar. Using the on/off buttons on the DIRECTV remote, I can turn both the receiver (Genie mini) and the TV on and off, however, it will not turn the soundbar on and off. Any suggestions? TIA for any helpful hints.

It should. I had the same problem and followed his steps..now everything works. Only thing I cant turn the cable box off too but who cares cuz it goes off by itself

This was pretty simple to follow so thanx for that. But what do I do when at the 2nd step and I hold down the mute and enter, the remote performs correctly but NO word prompt shows up on the tv screen like yours did? No you tube vid out explains it. My TV is a 50" Hisense Roku

I bought a new 55 inch TCL TV and I can’t use the volume control on my direct tv remote. My remote is not like yours and I have tried to get my remote to find my new tv but it won’t. It worked fine on my 50 inch Samsung which I put in my bedroom.

i love all these instructions on you tube that dont work. after i put in the brand then what do i push for the remote to go to the next step? select doesnt work , enter doesnt either i have tried every button and combination i can think of.I have been trying to get this to work for 3 days. the other remote for the other brand just asks to put in the brand and everything works.the last time a remote was set to work the service man had to call someone to get it to work.

Bought a bose solo soundbar 2 it connects with audio output with provided cord not hdmi direct TV is connected to hdmi arc the sound bar works had to turn off TV speakers but direct TV remote will not pair...anyvudeas?

How do I get my new Yamaha ATS-1090 to work with the directv remote? The model is not listed, and when I try to go through the "I don't know my model", it gets to code 22 of 98, and gets stuck with an error, every time, so I can't get past code #22. Isn't there a way to get the remote to go through codes automatically?

Thanks. Worked like a charm. Now if you could only tell me how to fix this. Let's say I want to watch channel 276. I push the 2 and nothing happens. So I push 2 again and two 2s pop up. I wait for it to clear then push the 2 then 7 and two 7s pop up and it goes to 277. So I push 2 again and three 2s pop up and it goes to channel 222. These numbers are just examples. It happens with any numbers and it's completely random. I push a number and nothing happens. Push it again and two or three of them will pop up. It takes me a minute or two just to change a channel sometimes. Aggravating as hell. Any help?
