Thanks for the video. I plan on getting a full frame zoom for run and gun to use it on komodo with speedbooster. However, I see that in some of the footage you shot there is noticeable amount of jerking caused by the OIS motor. Therefore, I wonder if it will be better to use something without the OIS then stabilize in post for smoother handheld shots. Have you found the optical stabilization motor to be a problem? Thanks in advance

Great video. How good is the ability to manually pull focus on this lens? I have the Canon 24-70mm 2.8 II and focus pulling is terrible, the focus ring slips like crazy and is impossible to put marks on the FF. I do however use the Sigma 18-35 and a set of art photo primes, and although it isn’t perfect, one is able to perfectly repeat focus pulls with marks. Thanks.

Hey Will! Unfortunately pulling focus with this lens is not great. I used it with the Komodo only a handful of times and really used it more with my canon R6 with auto focus

Jeff, Have you compared both the sigma and the canon 24-70? I also have a komodo, and R5 and wondering if spending the extra 1100 on the RF is worth it.
@ReachFilms
2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t personally put them against each other I’ve really just tested against the Sony. However, from my experience, the RF would most likely be lightly better. If you have a Komodo it may make more sense to go sigma as a lot of RF glass gets fixes via software correction in camera on RF canon camera bodies. But if weight is an issue then the 24-70 RF may make the most sense for you.

The AF on the Komodo is great on the Komodo for a RED camera, but it’s performance depends on the lens. On the 24-70 seems to work fine. But the Komodo is nowhere near as good in the autofocus department as the canon R5/R6 or Sony cameras
