Henry Cavil .... Yeah he is Superman !

I just don’t understand how the DC decision-makers can possibly be so stupid. Marvel even gave them the formula on a silver platter; what made us all love the Marvel movies (and I’m a DC guy) is that no one played Iron Man but Robert Downey Jr. He defined the role, and he WAS Tony Stark. We were thrilled every time we saw him in a cameo in another superhero's movie. We got to love each character as they developed them more and more, had them appear alongside other favourite heroes…and then brought them ALL together for huge epic movies containing all of the superheroes together - something we just hadn’t seen before. And it was amazing. DC just needed to do the same; they needed to take their time giving us each character, teasing others, until finally bringing them together for the Justice League - but they just couldn’t do it because they were impatient and rushed the whole thing. They had the perfect Superman - we loved him. They couldn’t have done better with Wonder Woman - we loved her. Same with Aquaman…great job. I hated what they did with Ben Affleck's Batman - partly because Christian Bale had redefined the role perfectly and gave us the ideal Batman movies; and partly because they took liberties with the character that old die-hard Batman fans just don’t want to see. Batman doesn’t kill - it’s the line he doesn’t cross to stay better than the criminals he fights. If he murders, how is he better? He can’t be the hero! And the Batman that we love - whose comics guys like me have been reading for 40 years - doesn’t drop F bombs. He has more class than that. Even though I hated Batfleck - I’d STILL rather keep him in the role than reboot it again. The Flash casting sucked - idiots. And tbh, Grant Gustin defined the role so perfectly in the TV series that I would have loved to see him play The Flash in the Justice League. What is WRONG with these morons running things at DC? Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman. Henry Cavill is Superman. Jason Mamoa is Aquaman, and we don’t want to see anyone else in the role. They were awesome, and the characters they created were exactly what we wanted to see. They had their fan base! We loved the actors playing our favourite heroes! How can they be so stupid as to not realize that replacing the actors we already love is a mistake? They just keep starting over, starting over, changing actors…and we’ve lost interest. They’ve lost us. We would have continued to enjoy seeing Henry Cavill in as many Superman movies as they wanted to make. Same with Gal Gadot as WonderWoman and Jason Mamoa as Aquaman. If they could only find a good Batman who will STAY Batman, we’d be happy. Every time they change everything, we hate it! One look through any fan forum would tell them that. But they’ve got too many people working there with massive egos - like James Gunn - who think that fans of the characters won’t mind them rewriting the characters that we love just the way they are. Did James Gunn ever read DC comics? He’s going to destroy the DC universe…and they’ll finally realize that and replace him with another egomaniac who will reboot all the characters again and get all new actors…rinse and repeat.

Interested in the John Wick spinoff, and while I enjoyed the last Batman, I'm not super-thrilled to see another quite yet. The bigger disappointment is a Superman that isn't Henry Cavill. To me, he was the perfect Superman.

I actually loved the darker side of Superman, and you are missing the essential dilemma that he faced, which was his kryptonian parents expected that he would rule the Earth - so he was always in conflict between his powers and his adopted humanity. I liked that they drew out that part of him in Cavell's portrayal. He was great and perfect in the role, and while the Universe had problems because of studio decisions, the casting had finally reached a good place. Now....Gunn? No, just no. All you have to do is watch the inane humor of Suicide Squad to know that Gunn is not the one to do anything good with the DC Universe. Now, the Dark Universe - that he could have revived and saved.

Sorry James Gunn, Peter Safran as you both have no idea how badly you Fxxxxed up replacing Henry Cavill. Cavill was the Embodiment of Superman with a passion I haven't seen since Christopher Reeve, 40 years ago. Henry Cavill has a stage presence and commands respect someone we can take seriously as Superman , a once in a generation actor for that role. We had to wait almost 40 years for a a believable, powerful character that Cavill brings and you destroyed this part of the DC Universe believing a false pretense of a reboot when you already have the formula. All you needed was a better Screenwriter and plot. The actor for the part, Henry Cavill was the perfect casting. Maybe afted your reboot bombs at the box office you'll beg Cavill to reprise the Superman role. James Gunn and Peter Safran, you should both be ashamed of yourselves for this screw up. The DC fans like myself will never forgive you for what you did to Henry Cavill.

I agree with so many commenting on here. I watched Superman as a boy when Christopher Reeves played the role and to me he was the first and the best Superman...Until Henry Cavil came along, and I hate to say it, but despite loving Reeves, Cavil made Superman so real, and really brought the stories to life. Replacing Cavil was/is a huge mistake. The franchise still had so much left with Cavil in it. This decision to replace Cavil is a Napoleon into Russia in winter moment. Incredibly poor decision that will be reflected in the lack of box office receipts.

I, personally, will not be attending anymore DC Universe movies if there is a ‘James Gunn’ stamp on it. He cleaned house of a lot of the best actors/actresses for their individual roles while keeping ‘crazy Ezra’ around. He should have been in jail for what he did. He weaseled out of that one. If it was anyone else, like you or me, better believe we would have been incarcerated within a 24 hour period. I’ll be sticking with Marvel. And even then, if there is a Gunn stamp, I won’t be there.

The DCEU had perfect casting. It just had bad directing. Wonder Woman, one was great, whereas Wonder Woman Two was Badly written/Directed. The same goes for the theatrical version of Justice League. The Snyder cut was more of what we need!

actually, good writing makes a lot of difference (Even if an actor doesn't look the part). I never liked Tyler as superman while he was making cameos in arrowverse (he just didn't look the part), but when he got his own well written show in "superman and lois", it seemed like his is the most faithful superman adaptation in the current century (Tom played only clark, not superman, hence not counting him here)! Give Corenswet the chance. if the writing is good, the movie might turn out to be good.

No Henry no Superman

As described the Superman Legacy movie will be a total disaster. Who cares about a film that investigates the internal struggle between Clark/Superman? How about a movie where he fights Darkseid like he did in the Superman animated television series or Justice League series? That is something fans would like to see in a live action film. Why is this so hard? And Henry Cavill as Superman is the way to go.

So, no reason to leave the house this summer. Goth Batman, No Henry Superman, repeat and rinse. Wick as long as K.R. is in it.

@@emcsquared8681 The new Captain America Sam Wilson only happened in the comics 10 years ago because of woke agendas forcing race swapping. That means Hollywood is literally ignoring over 50 years of Captain America history just because of the new race swapping agenda.

Here’s a few thoughts 1) there are many wonderful, even award winning, fantasy and sci-fi novels which have never been brought to the screen 2) hire new script writers, keep the most creative current writers and give them all some room to do something new and exciting 3) grow a pair.

I've been following Marvel since 1965, but the Loki series has me baffled. Multiverses are the opposite of continuity.

I could see replacing Henry Cavill once he became too old to effectively play the part or if he no longer wanted to do it, but neither of those are the case? He likely could have done Superman movies for the next 10 years or more at least? The end of Zack Snyder's Justice League SHOULD have been like the trailer for the next movie and continued on with the "dark sided" direction! ;-) It could have been as good or even a much better film than even Infinity War etc. but no. 😣😒

It's cool that there hasn't been 35 actors to play Superman. Christopher Reeves played him for a long time, had a few TV shows, then Cavill made the character feel real. Look, build, the way he cared about playing the role. DC has to quit changing actors and get their timeline in order and follow it. I'm sorry I love and prefer DC but unless you take what and who we already know, it's going to continue to feel wtf like. And bring the flash from cw or Netflix or whatever will help.

The movies from the last decade or so has left me with the thought, "Oh great, wonder how bad their going to F this up", instead of anticipation.

If given the choice between nailing a railroad spike through my foot or seeing "the batman 2" I'd choose the railroad spike. After the first one being the worst thing I've ever seen, I know the railroad spike would be less painful.

Sounds like Superman legacy will be a mess if James Gunn is got a hand in writing and producing it.

Oooh DCU, what are you doing? Another Batman movie? Another Superman movie, without Henry Cavil? Is James Gunn the only person to make DCU movies? No he is not. There are other talented people who can make DCU movies!! Give it a try. As for Batman and Superman movies, I and so many people have no interest in them anymore. Too many people have played Batman and we had the best Superman since Christopher Reeves (Henry Cavill). He may not be my favorite actor, but he is my other favorite Superman. Superman franchise is going to lose lots of money without Henry Cavill!!!! Silly executives and that producer. I got it, they clearly want DCU to fail so they can get the tax write off!!

2024 and 2025 will be the first year in my life that I'm not waiting to , or going to see any new film... I will go and see MI part 2 and Dune part 2 because I saw part 1 of both films.

They could, but I doubt they WILL. Fans have totally turned against him, for WHATEVER reason. I still think he's done some incredible stuff, even The Justice League movie, I know a lot of fans hated that movie, but his version was a hell of a lot better than the dumpster fire that the theatrical version was. Even Batman VS Superman, when that came out I couldn't understand the hate it was getting. And again, the Directors cut of BVS, was WAYYY better than the theatrical version. These so called "FANS" are going to ruin the movie business

I used to go to a movie a week as a teenager and I n 20s my early 30s cut down to once a month in my 40s it slowed to maybe 1 every two months now in my 50s I might ppv a movie or two a month at home and go to the theatre maybe 4 times a year at most.

Personally, I'm not keen to watch a movie based on Clark struggling with his identity of being Kryptonian and his upbringing in Kansas. If Clark is already an established reporter then it's obvious that he's been interacting with the human race and should be at the point of his existence where he has adapted to life on planet Earth. All this movie sounds like is that we're going to get a film based on a mentally unstable Clark / Superman and possibly another nervous breakdown aka Superman III and possibly Lois coming to his rescue. Bring on some fucking action and world destruction with menacing characters like Lobo, Darkseid and Braniac or all three against Supes, or just make another animated movie as that will likely be more fun to watch.

Maybe Ballerina, no on Batman, no on Superman and the rest.

As long as they keep james gunn away from the batman movie it should come out fine that dude is ruining dc even more

Pattinson as Batman was unbelievable. Worst Batman of them all. Unfortunately I watched the Batman if they make another I will not watch it.
