The first possibility is obvious and sad, which was Tony Stark (Iron Man) taking the gauntlet and snapping his fingers. The second possibility was Dr Strange using the Darkhold to dreamwalk and obtain the book of Vshanti and defeat Thanos. He didn't do this because it can lead to an incursion.

In Agents of Shield, a show about the guy that loki killed in the battle of New York (phil coulson) changes the timeline of the MCU by stopping Glenn Talbot, a super powered, mentally unstable general, from destroying the earth. It is also revealed that Talbot defeated thanos in a good amount of alternate timelines, but in the MCU timeline this was stopped. He may have been the threat that Strange saw.

Yeah the future of the MCU would've been darker if they didn't stop Talbot. The survivors of Earth being enslaved by the Kree with no one to stand up for them. Also Thanos still would have all 6 Infinity Stone cause once Earth died the Mind & Time Stones would just be left floating in Space. So in that logic, Shield saved the World from being destroyed so that the later Events of Infinity War could happen. (The fight in Wakanda specifically) Cause at the end of the episode it ends right before Thanos Snaps his fingers.

It’s possible cause they could have won like 13 million but most of them at the end galactus or kang something like that beets them in the end the only one where they beat all of them is the sacrifice of iron man cause we know one of the possibilities would not sacrifice iron man but it would turn him evil later so he kept looking till he found a possibility where they beat everyone else it was the marvels endgame where Tony Stark got sacrificed but there were millions of possibilities where they beat thanos, thanos is not the biggest threat what doctor strange saw was millions of threats bigger than thanos when they beat thanos the threats would beat them he sacrificed Tony to delay the inevitable of they marvels end by killing Tony

So out of over 14 million alternative futures he saw the avengers only won one out of those outcomes is terrifying. He had to see kang in one of them in that possibly was a insight on how many other avengers movies will be coming out in the near future.
