You make a extremely good point on why to choose Tekton over the tool truck brands. The only point I personally feel that the tool truck have that Tekton doesn't, is having access to speciality tools such as scanners, valve spring compressors and so on. I personally own some snap on stuff including a tool box, and most of it is filled with Tekton.

Totally right. There’s a ton of tools on the truck that you can’t get from Tekton or other big box brands.

I broke a Tekton 1/2 to 3/8 adapter (improper use), just had to email tekton a picture of it and they sent me a new one, no hassle. Fantastic website and customer service. Snap On is not worth it for me.

You just can't beat the 10% back in rewards. I own a lot of Tekton tools and have never had a issue with any of them. Also Tekton sells many American made tools.

In November of 2021, I'm watching him talk about his 700ish subscribers. Now he has 2.86k. In 6 months the subs have gone up almost 4 times. The Project Karr channel is really moving. I really like this channel so far and I'm a new subscriber as of yesterday. I like the openness to looking at cheaper tools and the most expensive tools. I also appreciate the honesty. This channel really has a great future ahead of it. I'll be sure to keep watching.

great video, love how you showcase the tools set and did the comparison to the tool trucks.. its all about personal preference. I'm new to the mechanic tool sets.. I'm trying to start doing more work on my vehicles and considering the Tekton brand.

I like the look of these, I bought the Milwaukee 106 piece socket set and am very happy with it, but think these are a great choice. Will be getting the wrench set and 1/2inch impacts from Tekton. So glad they ship to Canada. Nice video!

I agree, as much as I would love to have a snap on tool set at home I cannot justify the price as a DIYer. Tekton is much more my speed and same goes for Icon. I have a Harbor Freight 2 miles down the road so getting tools changed is very easy.

Being someone who has been working professionally in the automotive industry I will say the biggest reason for buying expensive tools from the tool truck (besides the fact we know it is high quality) is being able to warranty out tools for a replacement that they bring to you. Now that isn't always the case because sometimes the truck doesn't have the tool because you forgot to call/text your tool guy and have to wait an additional week. It's getting to the point where companies like Tekton are stepping up and even though they are of inferior quality, you can buy tools from them knowing that the turn around is under a week for a new tool, all you have to do is take a picture of your tool and send Tekton the picture. I got to the point where I was replacing a lot of my stuff with Tekton and selling my big brand tools to fellow employees for extra cash. Sockets/wrenches/screwdriver sets/ratchets/torque bits/punch sets/hammers. are all good things to buy from Tekton instead of the big box trucks. I will say the ratcheting wrenches, i've had to return 3 in less than a year of use on those so the internals are not very strong, and the pry bars can bend slightly... Other than that, they have held up fine and it is totally worth going to a company like Tekton and giving them a try. Literally no questions asked warranty, no having to tell the tool truck guy you were not using a cheater bar etc. Tekton will just replace your tools. I'm at over 1200$ spent on Tekton and still no regrets.... Besides the ratcheting wrenches and the plyers which the grips slip off of if used enough.... Oh and the smaller the torque bit, the higher chance at ruining the teeth so be careful putting to much pressure on those.

I use snap on at work and home. It's a choice. That said, tekton is a really great value brand, with the best customer service in the industry (including snap on, which pains me to say, honestly). Thanks for the vid!

I loved the video and you're thoughts on the different between tekton and the tool trucks. I my self love tekton and snap on both I have been running the 3/8 and 1/4 set professionally since last April so just over a year so far broke the ratchet once from a fall off the lift one day and a extension on the breaker bar this thrusday working on a skid steer. Very well made sockets for the price I just keep other ratchets like my mac and snap on around as back ups or if i need a different length. And with that flex head 1/4 ratchet you should be able too fold the head and fit it in the tray on the 1/4 set, I keep my flex head gearwrench in mine

At the end of the day a Tekton wrench is going to do same as a snap-on wrench. I work in a shop and use both wrenches all day long.

Tekton has the best warranty. Take a pic, email them and get new tool. And the warranty to on the tool and not on the purchaser like the tool truck brands. I personally think that Tekton is a great choice for the diyer and professional. I'm a fleet mechanic and all of my chrome is Tekton and so are my made in the USA angle wrenches. I was using the wrenches at work but took those home because I wanted a longer wrenches. My home box is mostly Tekton as well ... Good video ..

I get why you don't want to compare expensive brands to Tekton but I have to disagree with that. No doubt that the quality of Snap-on is good but there's a point where the quality/good customer service stops and beyond that you're paying just for the brand. What I noticed during my 30 years of life is that you get the best bang for your buck when you go with midrange stuff.

I buy specialty tool truck tools to keep the relationship but my daily stuff is all budget brands. In 30 years Ive only broken a handful of tools. Most of my replacements are for lost or stolen. Much easier on the wallet to buy a $15 dollar socket set than a $20 single.

My son is currently going through Diesel Tech School he will be purchasing the 590 pc Heavy Diesel set in April .

The Tekton 87pc 1/2" impact master set, complete, no skips is awesome!! Im surprised it didn't make the cut. I'd put that over the chrome 1/2" set...

Frankly I think when you buy tool truck brands, you are buying a name and for a service that many people may no longer feel is necessary with the age of computers and internet. Almost everyone has a phone now and it isn't hard to snap a picture or Write a email to get a tool warrantied. Tool truck brands were great before the age of computers and the internet.

Ive seen some tests on their stuff where it meets or exceeds the strength of snapon go

What I like about Tekton is they are very nice tools and if you loose a single tool you can order just the one socket, wrench or whatever you need to replace. Can't do that with Harbor Freight. They are complete sets only.

I make money with Tekton tools as well as other mid shelf brands. I feel pretty good about saving money and still getting all the performance I need.

Can you please maybe show close up of the sockets like the nut seat depth, wall thickness, etc ? I seen these on amazon and was considering them

For me, a wrench comparison is comparing them together as they either turn the fasteners or the don't. If I can buy a set for $100, and it does the same as a set that costs $400, then it is a no brainer. However, there is an example of cheap quality and low priced tools, like Stanley/Greatneck etc. that are absolute garbage. Their ratchets barely last a week, their chrome either flakes off or rusts and a lot of other issues. However, as we can see in the brands you mentioned in your video, price does not always denote quality. I believe that there was a time when the Box Truck tools were superior. However, in the last 30 or so years, a lot of companies have stepped into the ring, and ae delivering a lot of great products. Heck, up until Craftsman cheapened out and sold out and moved their tool production to China, they were a great product, both home and shop. But I'll say it again, my main gripe with a lot of these companies is that they claim they have a Limited Lifetime Warranty. However, it is YOUR lifetime. You can not inherit, nor pass down a set of tools and receive the warranty coverage, as it must be "The Original Owner." The great thing about companies like Husky, Craftsman etc., is that you simply walk into the stores, show them the broken piece and make the exchange, NQA. I don't have to wait a few days for either a return or a truck to show up either.

Could you review there pliers if you ever get a chance. Or could you recommend a good set of pliers

Wow that 1/4 inch snap in on set is $1075. I remember I paid like $300 on the tool truck and it came with a free portable speaker

The people who buy icon are the people who deep down want snap on but cant afford or don't wanna spend the money, so they buy icon since it looks the same and they can say it's the same but it isn't. And this is bc snap on is the best, but for the price that the Icon stuff costs, there are much better options, and not everyone needs the high end snap on stuff.

Hell I got tekton tools at work lol. Slowly replacing big name tool truck names with other tools. Got more sunnex tekton harbor freight and milwuakee now. Ain't no since in paying for the snapon sockets when I can get more for a fraction of the price with other brands. Luckily I have a tool truck that carries such names

You're absolutely correct.! It would be the equivalent of buying a brand new Porsche to a Kia. Both will get you to your work/ job. So, both are sufficient in your daily needs. Only one costs 12K and the other is 120K. I don't see why people feel the need to rip into Snap on owners. Then Snap on guys feel attacked so they have to somehow justify there purchase. I say buy according to your personal needs. Does anyone need to drive around in a Porsche.? Do I look at the guy sitting at the red light next to me and wow what a moron for buying that car.? Absolutely not.! I personally would love to have better, higher tolerance, fit to finish tools... But, I'm also working in my driveway on $800-1500 dollar "junks" for my own personal needs. Or to help a buddy out with a fix. Therefore I own kabolt/husky/craftsman.... With that being said. When I'm plumbing, there's no way I'm grabbing any pipe wrench that doesn't say Ridgid on the side of it. They are the absolute best pipe wrenches out there. Period...!

I wouldn’t compare Tekton to tool truck brands either for pretty much the same reasons as you. One thing I do appreciate about tekton is that they do manufacture some tools in the USA. I buy many different brands, but I specifically buy stuff from Tekton for that reason.

$195!!! Tney are 340 now. Maybe if they have a sell it will drop to 290 but it really has gone up

Bottom line is this....do you need the "best", or do you simply need "good enough". You can apply this logic to almost every purchase you make. As a musician, this can get you in a LOT of trouble with the "Snap-on mentality" (at least with the wife, anyways) :-). A $600 Instrument that sounds, and feels great that was probably made in Mexico, or oversees, works just as well as that $4K guitar. That should go without saying. That said, you should do a review of Tekton's tool chests. After a nauseating amount of research, I've found that their tool chests are by FAR the strongest, and most stable. I have yet to find a big box store that carries a tool chest that isn't made with flimsy 18-20 gauge steel with drawers that wobble once you get tools in them.

See i compare the 2 because if you are building a new set of tools and looking at snap on and other competitors, realistically the tekton products will compete well against a lot of snap on products and you can get more for the same price, so even if you have the money for snap on products the question is do you want go spend it, on some snap on stuff they are clear winners, on others though that is not the case

i have some tekton tools and i like them as well as my tool truck tools. buy what works for you. the up side to tool truck tools is you can call them and they will come to your shop

Your saying you paid $195 for all the SAE and Metric wrenches together, hell the metric version of what you have there is like $229

Do you know how tektite deals with warranty on items that are discontinued? For example, if you have an issue with one of the impact sockets you have that they don’t sell, would they replace it? Would they replace with a newer design?

Tekton will be more complete but hard to argue the Pittsburgh price and warranty.

Icon is overpriced don't get me wrong I like hf tool boxes for the diy but they are trying to hard with the icon shit it's better than Pittsburgh stuff but I don't think it's better than tekton

So tool truck brands, you are paying for the Made in USA + Convenience, otherwise when compared to other brands like Tekton, ICON, and other USA/Taiwan made tools there really is no quality difference. When it comes to convenient... that's pretty much gone as its now more convenient to just drive down to HF and warranty a tool no questions asked or for Tekton... send them a picture of the warranty tool, and they just send you a new one, again no questions asked.

The old "I make money with my tools" doesn't make them worth the price at all, you can make more money with your 800 dollar tektons than someone with 1000 worth of snap on, they do the same job arguably just as well, there are guys who make 6 figures with 2 thousand dollars worth of tools and others who have never made 50k and have 30k in a tool box.

I have not tried Tekton have been out of industry for a while now. As someone who made money with their tools, I agree with your assessment. I think there is two main reasons people use the trucks. Of course convenience - they show up at your place of business with a small showroom. 2nd the Truck owners give you credit for having a pulse. That 1/4 drive set may be 15 times the price but the truck owner will let you pay $40 a week and give it to you today.

Snap on are over priced

Using your tools to make money with, therefore you should buy overpriced tools is pure brain wash. If you subscribe to that thought, you’re a slave to marketing and fashion. New tech makes, $20 an hour. A $20 ratchet is making him money after an hour. A snap-on ratchet doesn’t make him any money for two days. Now multiple that by all the tools he owns.

I love Tekton. But not sure wat to go with. If tekton or Milwaukee locking 3 corner head. I wish tekton wrenches had the 3 corner lock too

Coming back to this video a year and a half later, I noticed that prices have increased greatly in some of these items and sets: Wrench set - $(from video $) Socket Set - $($) Impact set - $ (orig. discontinued) Ratchet wrench set - $($) Flex head ratchets - $($) Spark plug sockets - $($) Pry bars - $($) I have been following and using Tekton tools for a few years now and they have consistently increased their tool prices every year due to inflation, shortages, blah blah blah...The point I'm getting at here is that I imagine the numbers will continue to go up and sure as heck won't come back down. If you're on the fence about buying these tools, GET THEM! They're awesome, extremely high quality and their warranty process has really improved as of late. " There's no time like the present" has never been truer in the case of these tools, you won't get a better deal than right now.

Ya it’s very unfortunate how much the prices have increased. They are still worth it in my opinion, but not as affordable as they once were.
