Insect frass will make your plant think its being attacked by bugs because of the chitin . so it will produce more terps as a kind of insect repellent.

I use the general !and trust in general hydroponics for yrs flora 3 part customizable to my girls needs , with also the addition of diamond nectar as well , and with a happy ph balanced at 6-6.5 whatever my girls tell me , yes I may use “ the plastic jugs “ but they have never let me down 👍🏻grow on everyone, I hope it’s been a good season for everybody 😎

The only time you should use calmag is to increase the hardness or the water on feed days, when buffering coco and treating deficiencys. Cut calmag use at week 5 of flower 👌🏼

If you grow with LEDs indoor +Ca Mg +Sulfur+Increased nutrient If you grow in Cocoa +Ca Mg If you use RO water + Ca Mg Normally a plat to grow correctly in normal circumstances it needs a little Ca Mg, every time you add in one of these growing conditions I just mentioned you need to compensate over and above what would normally be used. Always add Garden lime to ANY growing medium you use(dirt,moss, cocoa) this PHs out the growing medium and will not let the PH go over seven. Even if it is store bought dirt add the garden lime. I don’t care if it’s the best dirt made and you bought it and you did not see them mix it ,add garden lime. This will also add some Ca Mg to the soil but will be pretty slow release. LEDs will suck nutrients and cal mag up like crazy so you must compensate some for the loss of cal mag , also compensate some of you are in cocoa, at least the first two weeks if you grow in this media. Until the media has soaked up all the Ca Mg it wants then drop the Ca Mg down. If you use RO water it completely cleans the water if all minerals, Ca Mg must be replaced for this factor for those who use RO water. I have found a tall boy filter with a catalytic carbon filter, made by hydro logic if anyone wants to know is more than sufficient in almost every application. It cleans to 90 percent purity. Your local water company or culligan man can test your water for you. Normally free of charge. As far as adjusting your Ca Mg for your conditions , the bottle will let you know on the side of it what the dose should be.start at that dose for replacing it for your RO, + if you have cocoa, + more if you have LED. So start around double the recommended dose , mine for example says 5 ml a gallon. I give it plus 2.5 for LEDs and plus 2.5 for cocoa for a total of ten.Then adjust up or down depending on what the plant is telling you. A product made that almost immediately corrects Ca Mg deficiencies is foiler spray, one is made by heavy 16 I like and it will almost immediately fix Ca Mg problems. Good luck everyone

I have been having problems. veg all is great, dark green plant than, flowering problems, a bit of bud going then droop and drying up buds. I use rain and snow water. right into a clean container no roof runoff or snow salt. No water pollutants, I am basically on a hill/mountain outside of a city in Canada. Clean water was collected. I always add cal-mag as there are zero minerals in the rain so I treat it like R.O water. Should I not be using cal-mag each and every time, all grow? Am I causing a lockout? You seem to know stuff.

Lime raises the pH, it doesn't drop it. Also foliar feeding is not a different set of products (unless you like to pay for pretty labels). To foliar Ca, Mg + N (nitrate) use regulate calmag which is calcium nitrate + magnesium nitrate (some have Fe and microelemts too)- pH to 6.0 add surfactant (dish soap will do) and use a pressurised sprayer to mist & drench undersides of foliage. You talk about extra calmag for Coco & even more for LED... Why not just use Coco 2 part nutrients like H&G or CANNA or Plagron? The Ca & Mg is already compensated for to suit the coco substrate. K is also lower than typical hydro 2 part lines. Check out the guaranteed min. analysis for a Coco formula Vs Hydro formula. And as for compensating extra calmag for LED? Without mentioning PAR/ M², temperature or rH%- I'm going to assume you're not familiar with VPD?

How do I know if my plant has to much calcium or not enough plz help my leaves are browning up top 5th week into flower

If you are doing hydro, it is suggested to add Ph down before any A and B nutrients go into the mix. This is because the form of iron (Fe) is usually Fe EDTA which manufacturers usually use because it is cheap. If you add Fe EDTA to water that is Ph 7 or higher (i.e. more alkaline than 7) then it will fall out of solution (to the bottom of the nutrient reservoir) and be unavailable in solution to give iron to your plants. There is another form of Fe which manufacturers can use, but it costs more money, and it is usually not used. You don’t have to Ph down the water to your final preferred value first, just Ph down it to below 7 and you can final adjust it after you add your A and B nutrients. Have a good day/ night. Two weeks before the chop I remove all of the fan leaves and the tips of the sugar leaves. Approximately 1 week after doing this I get an explosion of trichromes 😉

What if you sharing a gallon between 3 plants in 5 gallon pots probably not enough cal mag? Always recommended dosage being my max is 4 mil a gal it says 5 but I don’t push it?

Know many who take those leaves away and focus on the tops being green without cal mag a plant should always be green but some only focus on a few things. Cal mag helps beef up the stems and I always find letting get a little dry helps with little stress in soil those roots beed to stretch and grow and they do that when it starts getting dry looking for water. But yes it can happen very quick and if your not paying attention then I can be a big stressful thing on the plant if you not on top of it. I like a little stress like in a humans life if you go through no stress through life how will you know how to bounce back same with plant a little bit of a bad thing can help.

If you are growing organically you should already be using Epson salts(Mg and Sulfur, )and the Ca is found in about most everything else you can use from gypsum to garden lime to egg shells,

In this video you say to water before the lights turn on I have hydroponics and I have it set to feed and feed an hour after the lights turned on should I switch that an hour before the lights turn on

I'm Bruce and I was Cal-mag junkie , used way too much , it's potent one cap full will bring up my ppm 3-400 in 3 1/2 gal. I backed off big time , no Cal-mag in bloom and 10ml in 3 1/2 gal for veg and never looked back my plants look better than ever ! I've had a toxic mix before , no fun !

@@bruceholinight7978 what is your starting ppm or ec? I always needed calmag when I used salt nutrients because of RO/DI. I got tired of dealing with replacing the resin beads all the time, so I ran it without them and I still consistently get an ec under 10 from a source than runs about 250. I’ve since converted to organic sip containers. I water every week or two and I feed every 3 weeks. I haven’t checked my ph or ec since I converted last year.

@@cannerbernerd1836 I was shocked when I tested my Cyco nutrients at recommended level , 1500ppm and flashing which means my plants should have fried , since then I only use 800-1000 ppm in veg and 1200 in bloom but Cyco has Cal-mag in it so when I switch to bloom no more Cal-mag just Cyco ! Also use Kleanse , and Grosilic once every two weeks , Cal-mag will really bump up your ppm ...I'm in Promix hp ! Just an FYI I grew 4 clones from the same mother and used Cyco , Pure blend Pro , Veg+Bloom (like Maxibloom) and Remo all from seed to harvest , I challenge anyone to tell the difference they all looked pretty much identical so I'm going to Veg+Bloom full time just based on economics Cyco-$500 , Veg+Bloom $20 , sometimes less is more

Best thing you can tell someone is if it works for you then don't fix it. That's what's amazing about growing you can have a way of doing things and tell someone I did it this way and they try and different things happen or results. There's no two grows that are the same sure big companies have a lot of things dialed in and automated and that brings consistency. Best way is trial and error many grow and don't do well their first couple and get turned off by growing. If you search for knowledge then have your own ups and downs the reward after all that is far superior than someone telling you what to do or watching videos trying to mimic. Get ya hands dirty your mind thinking and get to work. My personal favorite is people letting their seedlings go to long without a micro dose of nutrients and it keeps getting lighter green and they contribute that to new growth where as a seelding or clone should be the exact color as a healthy veg plant but overdoing it with seedlings can happen quite a bit. But if donr right you'll see that desired hue of green and great growth early on stay focused y'all

I found out about calcium deficiency when picking tomato's . I had 30 plants . Everyone had a black spot on the bottom . I ran inside and googled .... Black bottom rot , calcium deficiency . I ground up some antacid tablets and lime pellets i found in a blender . Made a slurry and hand watered my Toms . No more black spots ! I have magnesium tablets too . I will put them in blender with cheap antacid tabs with a teaspoon of vinegar , dilute with water and apply to my "other" garden plants as well.

In Veg you can use just about anything. I like Azamax personal. Hydrogen Proxide also works well for other as well video below. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hoWK0dGJnJbJfbg.html In flowering I like to witch away from oil base pesticides because the oil will fuse to the THC oil on the plant and reduce quality I would remove infected leaves, and spray the Hydrogen proxide at every early morning so the plant as the complete day to dry off and not cause but rot. For, or better against spider mites (and stressed plants in general too) I can highly recommend the Bio-based "BAC Plant Vitality Plus". I got this "secret" tip from a forum once and it worked great (twice) back then against these little Fäckers. Thrips don't like it too. Since it's produced in the Netherlands and I'm from Germany, I don't know if you can get it where you live.

I have one plant showing brown spots on the leaves and I'm pretty sure it's a cal mag deficiency, My question is...should I flush the plant or ph the water add the cal mag with drops of balance? I have 3 gallon fabric pots and the plant are in 3 week of flower and I noticed the brown spots on the leaves but over all health of the plant looks healthy and perked up.

The best answer to this is to use SIP (sub irrigated planter)

If you have a deficiency how long does it take for calmag to start working? I.E healing

Light intensity, or rather, how densely packed light is with photons, is measured in micromoles per meter squared per second, µmol/m2/s. This is called PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density). Intense light has high PPFD and low-intense light has low PPFD. During bright daylight in a warm and sunny place, the sun's PPFD level hitting the earth is around 2000. During the evening, before sundown, it's down to 500-1000. During dark nights, close to zero. Daily light integral (DLI) describes the number of photosynthetically active photons (individual particles of light in the 400-700 nm range) that are delivered to a specific area (1m2) over a 24-hour period. So, In conclusion, the ppfd of lighting can determine the rate nutrients are being consumed. Good rule is to invest in a par meter to measure that DLI to optimize plants for the best stress free environment they will thrive in.

Hi there again! Really great material per usual. Few questions for you or anyone that can answer but preferably answers from you. So I kinda spoke with you last night or this morning and you suggested this video. Everyone’s water situation is different. So for example I water with distilled so I have to provide most of the stuff for my water. If watering with distilled how often and how much should I give? I’m In 3 gallon pots and I only water with two to three cups per pot everyday. Appreciate the help in advanced! I will also need to grab myler bags from you. How long do I leave in myler bags?

I would not ever recommend watering only with distilled water. It will leach monerals out of your soil . You have to balance the water with drops of balance, cal- mag something so the water isn't so hard Mark

@@PerfectGardensTV I think there’s some confusion going on. examples of hard water would be well water, tap water, river water etc. calcium and magnesium are the most prevalent minerals found in hard water. Bicarbonates chlorides and sulfates are also present in hard water. Le bleu vapor compression distilled water has a PPM of 0. There are no parts of my water that are non water sir. I have the most softest water you can have it’s not hard at all???

@@PerfectGardensTV Robert Bergman, a world class cannabis growing expert of ILGM, he even states that the best water to use is soft water, and examples of soft water are, rain water (before it hits the ground), ionized water, distilled, and purified. So distilled is not hard water sir. I have no idea what source that came from..

Hi mark! I got everything you told me about as far as air stones and air pump but had a question. I know we discussed aerating my distilled water with those drops of balance trace minerals, cal mag and terp tea. I was wondering if I should aerate even when I’m not trying to Feed or brew. Like shouldn’t I still aerate even if it’s just doing it to the distilled water along with trace minerals? And do I also do this for 24 hours even if not brewing tea I still bubble for 24 hours with water and trace minerals and cal mag right? Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks.

No you don't have to let it sit for 24 hours. That is only recommended for best tasting drinking water. After you add minerals the water will stay clean and healthy. Because you kinda do a drip irritation system by hand i will say yes aeration in your water constantly won't hurt just because of how aften you are adding water. Aeration is most important when you are adding things to your water that can come alife then die. So when brewering tea. The drops of balance will keep sittibg water clean and healthy Aeration will increase the o2 per molecules from roughly 5% up to 8% Help i didn't confuse it more

So yes when I’m not brewing how long should I let bubble for at a time? Also this may be a noob question but aerating the water and letting in bubble with those stones is all I need to do to brew tea right? The key to any successful grow is a brew barrel. The barrel is for your bacteria , bacteria is often found in 💩. That bacteria when activated, normally by water needs food and air. Some growers feed their plants molasses, I do not prefer molasses for two reasons, one is it is dirty and gums things up in the barrel. The other reason is it can drive the PH down in your growing media. The objective of a fifty five gallon or whatever size brew barrel you have is the build a active bacteria colony , you food the colony with sugars. The colony breeds and multiplies, your pour the hyper active bacteria colony on the roots of the plants and you get ultra healthy, flavorful productive crops. If you only use a portion of your barrel you can add more water, top off and add some more sugars to the barrel and the colony will keep right on breeding and reproduce. You do not get the flavors and smells to your plant from sugars. The bacteria is what eats those sugars and nutrients and then poops them back out. The plant then can uptake those nutrients much easier. This IS where the smell and taste to your crops come from. I look for any bacteria brand that has a tricodermose (sure I spelled it wrong) bacteria to it. If you have any other bacteria’s around it it will just take them over and destroy them anyway. In most applications in dirt you add carbs to your plant feeding schedule for a 8 week strain at week one three and five. If you use a product called great white for your brew barrel your barrel will not get dirty and gunned up. There is another product in the market that contains trico bacteria it is called recharge. Good luck.

Hydroponic growing will need cal-mag supplements 4th week into flower, also it is a good idea to give the girls (low dose of: iron,zinc) this assures flower maturity. Increases turpine production, cell growth, color intensity while insuring ripening. Outdoor ...you may not see many deficiencies. A maintained ph(6-7) and using a good grow media, you may not need to add cal-mag or Epsom salt. To make sure you have optimal growth...I foliar spray, (at half strength) along with iron and zinc. Once halfway into the grow cycle and once halfway into flower. Epsom salt (same application ) If ph is managed well, not only will you see no deficiencies but vigor will increase and flowers will fully mature larger, = higher yield Cal/mag & spray and grow= happy grows 😁

i hear you but plant are moving most of the water doing the day 10am - 2 pm. that means if you want minerals fresh for use you need to water before sunrise but as long as your plants look good that is all that matters Mark

Can gypsum balls be used as a tea drench for direct impact for calcium fix or would i be better off top dressing gypsum ? How much would i need to top dress in 3 gallon pots and how quick will it take to act ?

I typically water my plants at night. Am I at higher risk of getting bud rot? Can you recommend anything or should I change to watering some other time?

I would recommend watering right before the sun comes up or about 30 mins before the lights turn on if your can work under a green light. If not then just water right when the lights turn on Mark

afaik roots absorb nutrients via osmosis, they dont absorb the complete mixture you feed them, thats part of why high water saturation of the medium is not ideal. the roots will absorb the excess water before they absorb the nutrients (actually the "other" nutrients, as hydrogen and oxygen are plant nutrients as well). high water saturation will actually lead to the roots absorbing mostly hydrogen and oxygen before they absorb other nutrients. i dont think it matters when you feed them, they ll absorb the excess water and when the saturation reaches a certain level the roots will start to uptake more of the other nutrients in the soil, light or no light. nvm the latter part, hadnt watched all the way through; yeah, i see what you mean, the plants lose more water during the day so they ll absorb more of it which means less saturation during night time, didnt consider that, makes sense.

Hello I recently bought some food grade- liquid soybean amino’s. I plan to use some by diluting it in water. I’ve never used it before so it’ll be an experiment. It’s basically soybean protein that is thick and dark colored very similar to molasses. Has anyone ever used that? Does anyone think it will work by providing essential Amino acids? Cheers✌️🔥

How does cold weather effect growth of plant, will it kill your plant , 8 dehree nights 16 degree days, will they still flower?

Autoflower, Soil: So I water (tap after 48 hours) 2 quart per 5 gallon soil every other day. I was told to stop using: (cal_mag 2ml/micro 2/grow 1/bloom 3) Per gallon. I started a week ago because of yellowing/spotting/drying leaves. So I increased ph watering at 7ph, but runoff is still around 4ph after one week. When I test for runoff I add more water into the soil about 15 min after the first 2 quart using a clean bucket. I notice that the runoff looks almost dark yellow (like tea). Then I take that water into a cup and test which it shows at 4ph (way too low!!!). I look this up and some say to use: Dolomitic Lime 6 teaspoons per gallon. I look up Dolomitic Lime and that only comes in "Pulverized Dolomitic Lime" which is hard to dissolve in water? Showing pictures is not going to do anything because the plants are like I mentioned: Yellow/spotting/drying, all this started during flowering. Flowering started about 3 weeks ago with no sign of budding. Should I increase the calmag to 5 ml per gallon and only use that in the water, making sure that ph is around 7? Went to a plant nursery and they said on next watering to use: Rot-Stop One ounce (2 table spoons) per gallon. To only use this once and in 2 weeks test the PH again, but you know with Autoflower there is not much time. I do have peat moss in the soil and the nursery said that peat moss is high in acidic so using Rot-Stop will turn it around. Funny the leaves were not showing any yellowing prior to when the Auto started flowering. Hopefully, this will turn the PH on the runoff to a good range.

Did you ever find the problem? I'm on my second grow ever with autoflower my first one did the same thing looked perfect for the first 8 weeks then went to hell when it went into flower all my leafs turned yellow and fell off waited 17 weeks and the trichomes never went milky had to chop it down and start over now on my 7th week and scared it might happen again.

Had signs of calmag deficiencies on the tail end of this autoflower grow. Hit them with calmag on the next watering and things seem to have gotten way worse! The medium is soil, dry organic nutes, well-water ph'd at 6.5

I've always pH my water after adding Cal Mag. Don't see the purpose of doing it before since it will fluctuate after adding Cal Mag.

I’ve heard this recommendation from several reputable you tubers, especially when someone complains of cloudy nutrients after mixing. If you always add the same amount each time or on a predictable schedule, then try adding ph down first. I bet you will need to adjust your ph again. I’ve never tried it myself because my ph was always under 5 and had to be adjusted up when I was growing hydro. Since converting to organic sip containers, I water every week or two without even checking the ph. I feed dry amendments once or twice in veg and twice in flower when I defoliate. I’ve fed teas every week or so previously, but I haven’t used teas at all this grow and it’s still smelling dank AF.

Some minerals go inert because of the higher ph. Most likely no big deal but i do it because i think it matters. If your plants look good that is all that matters Mark

I pH my water after adding nutes. Usually in the 6.6's one time, then 6.5s the next feed. Back and fourth hoping it varies enough for the plants to take up the nutes at different levels. FoxFarm Happy Frog, RAW Nutes and OPTIC LED seem to keep my closet full of John Deere Green! Cheerz! 👊🏻✌🏻💚🌱☘🌾❄🔥🔥💪🏻🇺🇸🇮🇱

@@stickybudsgardens6942 there are optimum pH levels for veg and flower for salt nutrients due to the varied uptake of different nutrients at different pH. You may benefit by trying to target those numbers. Make sure you use target soil values instead of hydroponic values. .1 variation is nothing. You can let the pH swing more between feedings with no adverse effects.

I highly disagree with the comment "less stress = better results" when most growers who grow for quality will tell you no stress plants give you so much more foliage and that is not ideal.

Agree. Most of my crops respond well to stress. Specifically my peppers. They’re little masochists.

I grow in FF OF, and use RO water. I don’t use nutes for veg, and top dress with Gia green power bloom for flower. Ive had 3 grows(all auto flowers)and have had a magnesium deficiency when the plants go into flower every time. I have been adding 5ml per gallon of cal-mag to the RO from the beginning, and wondering if that is way too much. I would be very appreciative if you could advise me on how much cal-mag I should be adding to my ro.

Use Drops of Balance at a rate of 1 ml per gallon. It will fix your issues. Then slowly decrease what you are using until healthy ratio are met. Hope that helps. Was growing auto this season with a client. Same issue. we solved it with Drops of balance. Mark

Personally, I wouldn't . The almost home period or last few weeks should be ridden out but maybe try a one plant see what happens. I'd just wait ,do they look bad ?

I just shot a video on your question. I will post it in a few Days. I understand what Old IRISH is saying. The safest thing is to try it on one plant just incase it is not a camg issue. I would recommend to give the plants what they need until they naturally begin to have a discoloration like maple live going from spring to winter in Michigan Mark

@@kimpozo3514 KNF is Korean natural farming. Water soluble calcium can be made with eggshells and vinegar. If you want to you can even add in your epsom salt to it and make cal mag. But calcium and magnesium are antagonistic to each other so its probably best to use one or the other if your having deficiency issues.

What? Cal before light? Ok what if you are on 24 hour? I mean isn't cal only during growth? and not during flowering? Plus do you use cal when you have farm frog soil? Isn't all the nutrients in the soil already? I would guess then the only time to use CAL is when regeneration applies where the nutrients are low because of the previous grow. By the way these are all questions and not facts please.

@@cannerbernerd1836 For Me it's alot more than a few extra grams. Plus now growing is like breathing. Hard work, but very easy work. 100% worth the investment. Shiiiiit, first harvest was more than worth the investment. Now just buying soil, nutrients, bulbs and seeds is fairly cheap & in My state I've never experienced bug issues so at worst any garden issues are typically My fault or less common something in the genetics.

Focus on the law of minimum and law of tolerance. If you add more base you need more trace minerals. If you are using Micro's Stay under 1000 ppm. If you are 100% fertilizer you and growing in coco you will need cal mag trough the entire grow. If you are in soil the soil will retain more and you will need to use less Hope that helps Mark

@@PerfectGardensTV Evapotranspiration (ET) is the combination of evaporation and transpiration. Evaporation is water movement from wet soil and leaf surfaces. Transpiration is water movement through the plant. This water movement helps move vital nutrients through the plant.... so you are both right and wrong.

Maybe smoke a little less before trying to discuss this complicated shit.
