Jim Green Boots Review - Jim Green Boots just sent over their first batch of 2500 boots to the US and so they sent me two pairs, one to wear and one to cut in half to see what's inside. People have said these are some of the great value work boots and the best budget work boot. Jim Green has some unique advantages because they build 100% of their boot in South Africa that allow them to sell their boots for significantly less than most companies.

Based on your review & Carl Murawski review, 8 months ago (Feb 2022) I decided on a pair of JG Razorbacks. I'm a mailman in rural Maryland. These boots are more than adequate and have far exceeded my expectations. Worn almost daily & very minimal wear on sole. Looking forward to many years of my Razorbacks on the job

Finally snagged a pair. Mine came with an odd looking insole with parts plastic and leather. So far it's been okay, but it's not substantial leather like in redwing and heritage style boots. Might buy a leather or arch support insole. The boots are incredible. Great unique style, wide toe box, quality all around. Breaking then in fire hiking/light work. Similar leather hiking boots are usually insanely pricey. I'd have to work almost 2 days to afford danners heritage leather hiking "mountain light"s.

@@KT-cz7rm got a pair of razorbacks last month and I can say they’re definitely not like the pair Dan disassembled. For one the inner lining leather is gone and the inside is straight rough out leather. The next change is the elimination of the top fiberboard and they’re just relying on the insole to press lock into the leather fiber midsole ( which works as it’s pretty locked in. Lastly they’re more like the insole on the African ranger now with the Texon style second fiberboard unit removed
@zachmiller9175

@@KT-cz7rmthere's actually a newer insole than that now, the 3 pairs I own all came with different insoles, I have a pair of stockman's which came with the old style with the foam patch, my African rangers came with the ones with the plastic heel cup, and my tyre sole limited run razorbacks came with a much nicer leather topped foam insole with some built in arch support. I've replaced all of them with spencos though because they're the most comfortable thing I've found by far, they're what Nick's boots recommend.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Glad I’ve been patient. Just purchased a pair with the coupon code. Thank you for the review!
Nice teardown! I got a pair of these a few months back and am happy the the quality and fit. Was worn out by shoes and boots in this price range having failed soles or seams to go with discomfort on my bunion. The roomy seamless toe is great. My heel counter was lined with a slightly rougher roughout than your example, so my lackadaisical break-in earned me a small blister.
Thanks for introducing me to this brand! I ended up getting their Vellie which is perhaps the most solid Chuka boot I've seen.

@@MWENDA-vv5im the reason in my opinion the soles are so long wearing is the carramato safety sole clone compound that was perfected for the harsh African conditions. There was a very similar tread pattern that was used on our combat boots during the Angolan bush war. I do not know if Jim Green supplied these soles to the military, but if they did they would have had years of product testing. I found the soles excelled in sandy desert scenarios.

I have a very wide foot these boots are the only ones I have used that were not custom that fit my foot. The only complaint is I wish it had a cork based foot bed or something a bit more moldable but guess I can always add that on my own. Thanks for the review I also highly recommend them great boots.

First off I hope you’re alright health wise. Wishes for a speedy recovery with no lasting side effects. I ordered a pair. I have a Danner Portland Select Horween Leather. These remind me so much of those boots for a third of the price. I will compare the feel on my foot, but I’m stoked for such a good deal. Thanks!
Because of your other video about Jim greens, I ordered these and the other ones. I am replying to this video because this one came yesterday and I love them. What is nice is they are comfortable right out of the box and no break-in. They are also the perfect width for my feet.
Best shoes I have ever owned. Referring to the town and country from Jim Green. Not only are they hard wearing and heavy duty but incredibly comfortable. Highly recommended
My son has been wearing Doc Marten Chelsea boots for about five years as his daily school shoe. By the end of the year they are just so thrashed. Last year a chunk of the sole just broke off his boots. It was crazy. It looks like Jim Green makes a pull on Chelsea that is similar in the same price range. Gonna give it a shot and see if we can get a pair that last at least until he outgrows them...
Love the videos, hope to see the Italian boot company Fracap on here someday! Fingers crossed!
Going to get the new jim green ranger now. Thanks! These are pretty great.
This stuff is awesome. Can you do a series on hiking/backpacking boots, and start with my fav 'Alico' from Italy?
Thanks for a great look inside the boots-- always enjoy your videos. I have really enjoyed my Razorbacks and find myself slipping them on just about anytime I head outside for chores or a hike. Almost no break-in, good looks, and hard to beat after I dropped some aftermarket inserts in them. I think upgrading the insole is a great way to improve the comfort, especially on hard surfaces. Really glad to have these in the States now.
Great review on a great looking pair of boots, I like them. Now I want a pair of them! :) -~- Like Darrell said earlier ... thank you for exposing us to boots we would probably have never seen or heard of otherwise.
Thank you. Lifesaver. I have been paining over spending money on boots and the low price on these plus the coupon code allowed me to buy boots, plus the insoles and liners to make my steel toes winter weather friendly for less than the boots I had been planning to buy.

Very interesting. Never heard about this brand, but know I do. Thanks for video.
Great tear down, the boots definitely look like they're worth the price. On the hard soles...if you are going to be on uneven terrain you need a hard soled boot. A soft sole boot walking over rocks, stones, small changes in terrain, logs, etc. can actually bruise your feet over the course of a day (or at least make the soles of your feet sore). This is one reason a lot of trekking and serious hiking boots have hard/stiff soles. Not great for pavement and not needed for indoor use but definitely worth it for work and play in the dirt.
Can you do a review on the Allen Edmonds Higgins boots, would love to see how there built... Thx

Damm this pair of boots looks awesome. High value for the price, High Quality, Nice construction, this secure and protective tongue design, TPU counter wit a double leather cover, quick to use lacing system, 2.2 mm thick full grain chrome tanned leather, one piece upper, strong and durable outsole, the well built midsole, even the holy steel shank is there and they are resoleable. (The only part that bothers me is the plastic coated cheap lining leather part) For city wear i might add a cushioning insole since you said the outsole is hard, but I probably wouldn't want them to make a softer outsole cuz it could make them less durable. I might also change the laces because of the color. Seems like an awesome everyday allrounder boot which will last a long time, that you can also take out of the city without a problem. Sounds really good to me in my opinion. I definitely need to look if I'm able to get them here in Germany, hopefully they have my size since my feet are rather long but rarrow.

As a South African, I'm very proud that Jim Green has finally gone to more international countries. They are well-known here in South Africa and are worn by many farmers, game rangers and people who work a lot in the bush. My first pair were a pair of Razorbacks as a 15th birthday present and I cherished them dearly. They were quite tough to break in, but once they were broken in they were great. Keep in mind that the Razorback is a very sturdy boot, so give them a bit more time to break in than your usual boot.

OK! I love this series, and will return to it soon. A little broke right now, so going for the Jim Green, which will probably be about as good as anything I've ever had! This is a tremendous insight we're getting here, it sure has never ocurred to me to cut up a pair of boots! PLUS I've only ever heard of maybe two of these brands. A main thing for me is having wide feet, and being cursed through life in a world where people want shoes to have pointed toes, and the largest size is 11 or 12. I have gone whole YEARS looking for something that fit, before stuff like online sales. So, having wide sizes, or a square toe, or a MUNSON LAST (?) is the impossible dream. At this moment I have great hopes for the JG thing, 1/2 size up and just hope it's inherently wide. Later I'll have more money and can really try harder.
