Just rode the river - and wow - did I forget how much the back stroke could somehow both hurt like hell but also help push my limits on physical therapy. And thank got for trigger point shots!! When they hit the nerve direct isn't exactly fun...but the I'll take a 6 over my seemingly 8/10 (for about the last decade). I'm 😎 with my Mary Jane also. But right now I'm at about 4/10.

This video was especially informative and relevant to me. I have had decreasing mobility in my shoulder because of the pain. But I thought it just me getting older. I took all your tests and I may have done them wrong because the test for impingement was super positive (very painful) but also one of the rotator cuff test also was painful. Either way, I am researching if there is treatment for either and setting the appointment. Thank you Doc's

You guys really educate me. This one was perfect. Now I can see how well my impingement is healing. It pinches the nerve that runs down my arm to my index finger and thumb. I hurt my shoulder at work and the company had me go to the urgent care (after about 5 weeks of this hurting). There the PA diagnosed me with carpal tunnel. Worker's comp then denied my claim as they believed that I hadn't been on my job long enough to have carpal tunnel (2 years). Ugh. So, I'm treating myself.

This is good info. I can do ALL of these (strong and flexible) so I do not think anything is torn but I have pain in front of my shoulder. I assume impingement from improper form or too much weight on lat pull down machine. I bought some of your bands so I can strengthen the shoulder when some of the pain subsides.

Great video and tips. Can you (or anyone) please help me understand what the issue might be if I feel something in my shoulder area when: "My hands are together (like praying) slightly above eye level. Then I open my elbows outward like wings. Similarly, I slightly feel something if driving, left hand at 12 noon on the steering wheel." What can I do to make it better. It's been several weeks. I haven't used ice yet- pain is only ~2 out of 10 and only in certain positions...but it's keeping me from lifting. I think this issue either came from starting to do pull-ups or triceps pushdowns. It's ironic that you work out to try to get healthy and you end up getting hurt. Thank you!

I had arthroscopic surgery with debridement on my right shoulder August 2020. I’m 33 years old and if I try the belly press my elbow bends inward. The lift off test I can hardly get my arm to my back and it won’t lift off. The one where I put the right hand on my left shoulder I can’t lift my hand more than a inch or two if at all possible. All this has severe pain as well as the bad pain in the day and worse at night can’t sleep without waking up about 20 or more times to adjust. Is my Subscapularis damaged?

I dunno none of these really do anything but the mobility in my right shoulder is so much worse than the left. If I try to reach behind my back my right can go to around the middle of my back and then it feels like it can't go further and it starts to hurt, while my left can go all the way between my two shoulder blades and I can even have someone gently pushing it up even further, so mobility on my left shoulder is fantastic, I just don't know how to fix my right. I've tried everything, I've completely cut every overhead exercise, I try to gently stretch with a stick behind my back like you showed in another video. I've tried to strengthen too but it won't go away. It happened when I fell on my side directly on my shoulder with my arm in a locked position, I remember for 2 days after my arm felt like it was extremely unstable in the joint and almost popping in and out of the joint.

hi guys i am in a lot of pain i dislocated my shoulder 6 weeks ago skydiving ... it was a 40MPH landing and i landed on my shoulder. anterior dislocation. i went to ER and they gave me morphine and popped it back in. it was fully healed and i had full range of motion 7 days after. so amazing. then i got too excited and confident start doing pushups and pull ups and then crazy hammer exercises to strengthen it. the next day i could barely move it so their was some tear. i felt like it was popped out slightly displaced forward. it felt pinched. it was now been 6 weeks and i can barely move past 45 degrees forward and sideways without lifting my shoulder up. i saw ur videos and someone said it sounded like an impingement. i don't have medical insurance and my job is working in the wind tunnel helping people fly. so i need my shoulder to work. do u recommend doing the impingement exercises or what can i do to get my arm above my head to stretch it out. its so tight and its different than just a tear cause there was a complete dislocation. if u could email me maybe i can come into your office????? robyn.yo@gmail.com should i keep resting icing it, it feels like its getting worse everyday.

Work on stabilizing the scapula (rhomboid, mid/lower traps) to put the scapula and shoulder in more optimal position. Mobilizations to restore the ROM limitation is important and you can use low grade mobs for pain. Strengthening the rotator cuff is important so use bands and doing shoulder abd/ER/IR strengthening in a pain free range so start isometric then move to isokinetic. Does this help?

The Gerbers test is similar to the starting point to fastening my bra, which is VERY painful.

The thing is, you didn't really say where we might feel pain for all these different tests. My pain is my entire upper arm. Bi and tri-ceps. No where else. On the pain arc test, it's hurts through 100% of the range. It hurts when I'm sitting, it hurts when I try to stand. It hurts as I type this. It hurt more when I try to relax the arm in some positions, and hurts more in other positions when trying to use the arm. It basically hurts everywhere, in all movements. But not up in my shoulder. A tiny bit on the ribs but nothing compared to the pain in the arm. I woke up one morning with this. 10/10 pain scale. I tripped over a rug and the pain brought me to my knees screaming and crying. Do I go to the ER or just find a physical therapy center?

Same. Literally. I am barely sleeping from the pain. It’s terrible. If you figure anything out- please post it here.

Can someone explain the cracking and popping sounds in my shoulder . Every time I move my arm, it sounds like I'm ripping off a Barbie doll arm. I got a shot in the shoulder, but I still have cracking.

I love your video--but to much stream on consciousness rambling. Let me suggest that you script and rehearse. That random chatter is very distracting.
