Using a stick to hold that tiny ferro rod is a brilliant idea!! This is why I subscribe, because I would have never thought of that. Thanks, Felix, you are making me smarter.

Very clever, Felix! Also, I can't imagine how this trick could possibly void the warranty. It's a win-win!

Warranty? I’ve never had any issues other than my own stupidity with any of my Victorinox knives and a couple of them are over 50 years old now.
Felix you're a genius sir...I own quiet a few SAK now (thanks to you) and will definitely get on to the ferro rods and start using your tricks. Thank you again sir.

No doubt that was mind blowing. Idk why I never thought about that. Dudes on another levl
Every time I think Felix has come up with the last best trick/hack/DIY he surprises yet again. And finding that pulling back the phillips eliminates having to file off the hump... BRILLIANT, and the ferro holder from the twig... he just keeps outdooing himself LOL

Not only does it eliminate filing it, but it improves it and turns it into a holder. Literally turned the weakness into a strength
Your SAK tips & tricks are fantastic and the time and effort you put into sharing all of this is greatly appreciated! It's a treat to have so much unique content about a common pocket tool that has been around for so many years (my first was also gifted to me 40yrs ago). Be well and keep up the great work! 👍👍
Fantastic knowledge combined with charisma and positive vibes. Always a pleasure watching your videos, Felix! Thanks for everything!
Thank you so much for this trick! I've many SAKs now, and all collected over the years. Your tips & Tricks have long been playlisted by me and shared with friends, so your videos are going far and wide. This 'hump trick' is particularly interesting, but I have saved it to my 'Specials'. Have a super weekend Felix! All the very best and *Hugs* ~ Wendi 🌻🌻🌻

Hi Felix! Jedesmal wieder bin ich absolut überwältigt von Deinen Ideen und Deinem Erfindungsreichtum! Wieder mal ein absoluter Geniestreich, vielen Dank! LG
A small German youtube channel also presented these small 20 mm fire rods half a year ago. Was a good video too.
Gracias por la revisión, es increíble! Cuando pensaba que no se podía sacar más partido a una victorinox! Y ahora veo esto, Félix eres grande
I am mechanical engineer and machine fitter (Maschinenschlosser) and not the worst. But i am always amazed by your ideas and tricks. Normally, when i see someone shows a hack in yt i know the trick a long time in advance. But you amazed me so often in the past.
Your enthusiasm is contagious. I am going to try to fit a firefly in there when I get home from work - if only because I have several of the ones sized for 58mm knives.
How cool is that! Great storage trick Felix - thank you!
another great video...the stick as farro holder..inspired....and the insight on a different style of victorinox is sooo helpful....thanks for all your well researched and thought out videos
I think Victorinox need to do a little bit more inventing. They could make like some sort of a larger hole where you could fit a decent fire steel that could screw in. It could have threads and could be a little bit more significant and they could call it, the Victorinox survivor or something like that. Tell me they wouldn’t sell 10 million of those things. Are they afraid of money or something?

Or at least a "higher end" steel...aeb-l harder than their 57 hrc would be a nice start 🙄

That's Awesome!! I'm going to do that with mine. Thank you for the great idea!!
Hi Felix, this is a realy cool tip, and no modification needed now you found how to retract the little hump, that's a reliable place to keep the ferro rod. And the trick whith the stick to hold it brilliant, thanks for all these tips, and your efforts to bring them to us there much appreciated, stay safe my friend, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
That is an outstanding idea. Thank you for sharing. I like that it locks the rod in the knife. Always look forward to your videos.
Mr. Immler, you taught an old dog like myself another new trick. Brilliant idea using a stick to hold the ferro rod. I use the firefly in my tooth pick holder and now I know if I need to to use the small stick. As always great work sir.
Now that is a great idea. Especially the hollowed out stick... Very clever...

That is awesome trick. Thanks man.
Wow, I really appreciate your content. Your idea inspired me to make a fat wood fire starter in the same way. Carve out a groove from a piece of fat wood and just press the ferro rod into the groove and scrape the fatwood from one side and scrape the ferro rod from the other! Making it right now.

Great information as always. Holding the ferro rod with the stick is genius. I often cut my own hair too though. It comes out better when I have the old lady fix it after. Sometimes I even stand backwards at the bathroom mirror while looking in a smaller mirror. Stationary mirrors are the best

What an awesome way to store the rod! Another method which will assist with sparking, and will work with this improvised handle method, is to line up the steel and blade against the tinder, but, rather than scraping the blade down the steel, hold the blade in its position, do not move the blade, but pull *the steel* backwards towards you... It keeps the sparks in a controlled position against the tinder, and prevents the blade from accidentally 'snuffing them out'... 👍👍👍👍
