So what's the tea on the number of swipes required with the sun stick - Lab beauty muffin talked about this and she had to use A LOT of swipes just to get an SPF of 19 and I'm curious what you have to say about her findings. 👀

From what I remember from her video, sticks are great for reapplication, if you have not sweated at all. The reason you need to reapply is bot because of the filters going bad, but because the layer gets broken up as the day passes. So, sunsticks over that sunscreen can help form that uniform layer again.

@@pocketsage25 It's not. You buy an SPF 50 but never get that protection on your skin, so what's the point. It's simplier to re-apply an SPF 50. And Dermatologist recommendation is not to reapply with a much weaker protection. If you get a uniform layer of spf10... Does not make any sense

I'm a nurse that bounces back and forth between day and night shift and I cater my sunscreen routine based on the shift I'm working. When I work days I cleanse, moisturize and then apply sunscreen mostly for the aesthetic appeal. I use the hero cosmetics green tinted sunscreen because my skin gets red and it helps to balance out my complexion, but I don't reapply throughout the day. I get to work before the sun rises, I'm never by a window for a prolonged period of time, and I leave once the sun has set. However, when I do nights, I do my nighttime routine before heading to work, but when I'm getting ready to head home, I apply my sunscreen and then wash my face once I'm home. On a regular day off when I'm out and about I bring my sunscreen with me and pretty much apply every 2 hours and/or once I get back in my car. Whichever one comes closer to the two hour mark haha

😂 Fellow RN here. Wow!! How do you manage switching back and forth between day shift and night shift? You're wrecking havoc on your circadian rhythms. Just wondering is this your choice or does your workplace require rotating shifts?? I worked the night shift exclusively for eight years and I love the camaraderie of the night nurses, we really had each other's backs; then I switched to day shift and I didn't care for the drama of the day shift RNs but I stayed on days because of family obligations. I would love to rotate shifts but I don't think my body could handle it. Please tell me how you do it. Respect to all my fellow Nurses. I appreciate ALL that you do. Nursing is a very physically and emotionally demanding job.

@@lanaofficiel4042 hi! No this is completely by choice. I have three different jobs at 3 different hospitals. 1 is night shift and 2 are day shift. It’s definitely messing up my sleep schedule but I wanted the experience. This is definitely not a permanent thing! Respect for you too! Nurses are awesome :)

Thank you for this Ramon! I only in the past few years realized that not reapplying is what caused me to have sunspots especially on the left side of my face. I’ve since been more diligent about reapplying and using higher SPF ( I used only SPF 15 in my 20s!).

i watched this and i was already pretty much doing all this and using all these products and this made me really happy that i'm on the right track!😁 my favorite sunscreen of all time is the bondi sands spf 30. Even though I have oily skin, i still love a glow and that one gives me the glow i want! also the coppertone every tone spf 50, i love using that for my body bc i've experienced white cast on the body and that one doesn't leave me with one.

Does re-applying chemical sunscreens on top of makeup work though? If I remember correctly chemical sunscreens need to "bind" with our skin in order to work ( I think they needed to bind with the proteins in our skin, but don't quote me on that lol). That is why it is usually recommened to wait 20-30 minutes before going out in the sun, while physical sunscreens don't require wait time, because they create a protective layer on top of the skin.

  • Жыл бұрын

Sunscreens do not need to “react” or “bind” with skin. The time is for it to set and form a protective film is all. Mineral and chemical sunscreens both work in this way ♡

@ But can it protect the skin if it is applied on top of makeup. If you were foundation most of the product will be left on top of the foundation. Has it been tested on top of foundation at least ?

  • Жыл бұрын

The filters still absorb uv regardless of what they’re applied on. As long as enough of the sunscreen is able to form the film layer over a surface, it’ll protect. The same way we’re able to test sunscreens in vivo by using a plastic plate as a surface area

@GlowByRamon the AAD & FDA guidelines recommend 4 passes. However, it has been shown that to achieve full coverage, such as that with a cream version, one would have to pass the sunstick 36 times to achieve the ml/gm coverage. I do use traditional sunscreen & prefer to use the sun sticks to keep up the protection factor.

Hi Ramon, I really appreciate your content and the valuable insights you provide. 🙌 I have a question regarding sunscreen usage. 🌞 Is it safe to use different brands or types of sunscreen for the initial application and subsequent reapplications? 🤔 For example, can I use the skin1004 water fit as a base and then the BOJ stick for reapplications? 🧴🔄 Or should I be cautious about certain ingredients and their compatibility? 🚫🧪 As a chemist, I highly value your opinion on this matter and would love to hear your insights. Thank you! 🙏😊
