KraziKazi Qui-Gon Jinn. He comes from a place of caring and love, while most of the Jedi of his time were more political.

KraziKazi Exactly. Qui-Gon knew that he would need to be the father that Anakin needed due to the nine-year-old boy having an attachment to his mother. Qui-Gon already knew the order he served was now dogmatic and political with their beliefs and his maverick nature put him at odds with the Jedi Order and its rules. The Duel of Fates determined the fate of Anakin Skywalker. Qui-Gon fought for Anakin to be the father that he needed. However his lack of forethought proved fatal, as Qui-Gon lived in the moment too much during his duel with Darth Maul on Naboo by rushing after him without a strategy. Maul was able to separate him from Obi-Wan and kill the Jedi Master by seeing through his technique and highlighting his flaws.

Qui-Gon of course is an excellent father figure. (When he's standing behind child Anakin, we already see the silhouette and posture that will later become Vader's trademark. :-) Anakin in "The Clone Wars" showed that he could be a good father figure, although Ahsoka is more like a younger sister to him. Han Solo in "The Force Awakens" was incredible: the lengths that he went to save his son although the whole galaxy saw him as a man damned. Din Djarin, "The Mandalorian", is a wonderful example for a good father.

There's another key point I believe you overlooked about Qui-Gon: He NEVER once demands that Anakin join them...he speaks to Shmi privately and honestly about his belief that Anakin is Force Sensitive and then LETS Anakin and Shmi CHOOSE for themselves what to do. Last but not least, when Anakin runs back to his mother as they are leaving Qui Gon allows this to happen. Had Anakin changed his mind at that last moment, I believe Qui Gon would not have interfered.

This also contrasts well with Maul. As Maul was stolen from his Mother by Sidious to become a Sith. Meanwhile Anakin joined Qui-Gon willingly to become a Jedi. Maul was born free but became a slave to Sidious. Anakin was born a slave but was made free because of Qui-Gon. Sadly, Anakin would share Mauls fate with time.

Yeah. I always thought that is what Jedi did. (Side Discussion): I feel like people forget that altho Qui gon does his own thing he still does plenty of Jedi like stuff. There are other Jedi like Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, and Quinlin that display similar "deviation" from the straight laced, formulaic way of going, but I think that is an example of how diverse the Jedi are allowed to be rather than showing how bad they are. You need all knights, masters, seekers, and scholars to preserve different aspects of the he Jedi way, and Qui Gon being a bit of a rebel is one of those things.

Idk if anyone know the Myers Briggs test, it’s a personality test that’s so god damn accurate it’s actually scary, it’s not some trivial Facebook quiz. All that being said of the 16 different types of personalities. In 2015 or 2016 I went to a starwars exhibit in Cologne Germany and at each station you get you at the exhibit you answer 10 questions, and after making it through all 10 or 12 stations at the end it tells you who you are most similar to in the Star Wars universe. I’m an ENFP and so is Qui-Gon Ginn, so is Ashoka Tano, but Luke? He’s INFP, basically Luke is the introverted version of ENFP.

What stands out to me about Qui-Gon, in contrast to all the other Jedi of the prequel era, is that he is truly a man of faith. You don't see a lot of trust in the Force from the others throughout the Clone Wars. The only ones who get close are Yoda and, naturally, his apprentice, Obi-Wan. Only once they've lost everything do they truly understand.

There is an interesting theory that says the kyber crystal of Luke's lightsaber in Episode 6 is the same as Qui-Gon's, that Obi-Wan kept the lightsaber of his master and Luke found it in his house when he returned to that place after the death of Obi-Wan. That's a simple, but great theory. The son comes to save his father with the "soul" of his "grandfather" by his side.

Pretty lame way to make a point and insults the audience’s intelligence. My main issue with RLM was the way they failed to apply critical thinking to TFA, whose characters offend with unfathomable stupidity in the same way he accuses the prequel characters of doing. When I saw the Plinkett review for that stinker, I lost immense amounts of respect for RLM.

I agree with most you've said, but I think Qui-Gon's death didn't seal Anakin's fate. It, of course, made the dark path closer to Anakin, but I think only with the death of Shmi was Anakin's fate sealed, because it strengthened his fear of losing his loved ones. Of course with Qui-Gon alive, Shmi's death wouldn't have been so harming to Anakin, but I think the real deal with Anakin's problems stands more in his relation with women - his mother and his wife - than with men - Qui-gon, Obi-wan and Sheev -.

  • @starlighter930617

    @starlighter930617

    3 жыл бұрын

But if Qui-Gon lived, I think Shmi wouldn't have died. Anakin had his dreams about his mother suffering for a long time and I'm sure Qui-Gon would have trusted Anakin's instincts and they both would have gone to Tatooine to find out what's going on. Also, I believe both Shmi's and Padmé's death was orchestrated by Sidious. It's odd from the Tuskens to take prisoners and held them captive for a month. And Padmé didn't die because she lost the will to live. That's just something the droid doctor thought was a logical answer. Nor she died because of a broken heart as her last words were: there's good in him. So she didn't give up hope and she just gave birth to twins, so she had every reason to stay alive. I think Padmé died because Sidious drained her life energy to transfer it into the dying Anakin. But ultimately, Qui-Gon could've changed Anakin's life because Anakin would have trusted him fully so he wouldn't need Palpatine to fill in that role.

  • @mr.safensound4238

@@starlighter930617 Shmi would have died eventually for that was the 'Will of the Force', which Qui-Gon was teaching Obi-Wan and Anakin to trust. Shmi's death was a turning point for Anakin moreso for the manner in which she died. Contrast her brutal end with that of Yoda's peaceful death in ROTJ, which Luke is able to come to terms with and accept. Although you can conjure all sort of theories about Palpatine somehow orchestrating her death, such was the danger of regular life on a backward 'wild West' planet such as Tatooine, there is actually no reason to look more deeply for reasons beyond the facts we were given on screen. But Palpatine's ingenuity had already begun to play a part in Anakin's psychology with the evil senator exploiting and playing on Anakin's worst fears. The issue for Anakin was the guilt, something he'd carried since the day he'd walked away from his mother to join the Jedi. He'd promised her then he'd be back to save her and then was unable to fulfill it. It was from this guilt that all his rage and bitterness grew. Your theory on Palpatine 'drawing Padme's life-force' is also totally unnecessary, since Padme's broken heart stemmed entirely from her clinging to that slim 'hope' in some goodness remaining in Anakin. Yet also witnessing just how little of that goodness remained, and what a terrible force for evil her hero had become. This is what brought her more pain than her stressed heart could bear.

I think you missed a point about Qui Gon betting with ‘Watto’s Pod’. Anakin raced with W’s pod but it was smashed in a previous race. Anakin has been working on his pod for years and he’s only 9. To me it sounds like Anakin built his own pod (he did build C3PO) rather than taking Watto’s wreck. Watto would more likely salvage or sell his old pod rather than let Anakin ‘steal’ it. There isn’t proof either way, just that I’m pretty sure Qui Gon isn’t betting with Watto’s pod but Anakin’s.

As an older Star Wars fan, it has felt a bit like vindication that people are finally seeing the value of the characters and the stories created in the prequel series, which I have loved nearly as much as the OG series. And absolutely dead-on point regarding Jar Jar's necessity to Qui-Gon's story arc.

"There is surely nothing other than the single purpose of the present moment. A man's whole life is a succession of moment after moment. There will be nothing else to do, and nothing else to pursue. Live being true to the single purpose of the moment. People forget this important truth, and keep seeking other things to accomplish. Be true to the thought of the moment and avoid distraction. Other than continuing to exert yourself, enter into nothing else, but go to the extent of living single thought by single thought." - Yamamoto Tsunetomo, Hagakure (Hidden [by the] Leaves). The jedi often seem to take inspiration from the Eastern concept of the warrior monk; so it hardly seems surprising to me that the character who most embodies what the jedi are supposed to be occasionally echoes peacetime meditations on bushidou, at least in part.

If dooku was able to teach qui gon about the flaws of the jedi and let him think for himself, why was that not translated to obi wan if the public opinion is qui gon would have been the perfect teacher for anakin? obi wan is shown to be by the jedi code all the way, disagreeing with qui gon on a few things in the phantom menace for being somewhat rebellious against the jedi code. On that note, it doesn't seem many of qui gon's traits carried over to obi wan at all. was qui gon a good teacher to obi wan? If I'm missing something and obi wan does have some traits from his master's teachings or there's reason to a lack of traits carried over, I'd love to know.

IMO Qui-gonn did not achieve "immortality". Imagine if you were sitting around thinking about something, and you started to day dream about "i wonder what so and so would say" and then you recieved an answer in your head. Not somebody elses voice, but not your voice either. What I believe master jinn did was pass on a technique to help jedi attune to his way of thinking philosophy etc so that they could "call upon his essence" so to speak. Once jinn returned to the force he was one with the force. But the force used his "image". Jinn didnt really do anything to change events or seek anything personal in the afterlife. It's more like he taught the ability to commune with "him" to yoda etc. How to call out to the force, and honestly have a convo with somebody that doesnt exist bc they are once again part of THE ONE. It's like the difference between having an imaginary convo with a dead person and actually having that convo; meaning the respones are legit. But it's not jinn going out of his way to speak, its the force using his form. Like the difference between a sith ghost on korriban and what jinn accomplished. He returned to the force, lost his own person hood, but still taught those who still lived to talk to "him". The point here is that the ability to speak to a "dead person" and the ability to speak to the living force is the same philosophically and jinn taught the rigid jedi of his time a technique to converse with the living force using whatever avatar was appropriate to them personally atm. So imo jinn did so, so much more than become immortal in the grand scale of things.

Qui gon jin sees the bigger picture, unlike the other jedi who get involved (breaking jedi code by interference) they get involved with the Senate the Republic instead of just keeping to the true original jedi way of the force and peacekeepers , as qui gon jin always does. Obi wan is overrated Luke barly gets by with the skin of his teeth either by escape running away or the help of others but qui gon jin keeps true to the name jedi. They call him a grey jedi but that's only because the purpose of the jedi has been manipulated, be it by the Senate the council the republic completely detached from the jedi order / code , he's the only one who actually keeps to the true original pure meaning of the jedi code

I'd argue Qui Gon is a grey jedi. He doesn't fear the dark side but he isn't tempted by it. If Qui Gon killed Darth Maul, he would have trained Anakin, and Anakin would be able to see through Palpatine's malicious intent and brainwashing tactics.

They should retcon qui gon as sith.. he cheats uses the force to gamble knows everything. In his 15 minutes of screen time. Steals child. Insists on training when everyone says no. Maul kills him like anakin kills dukoo. It would make more sense if he was a turn coat too.
