Well, I just wanted a reference so I could try these out. Spy is my worst character but I really, really want to play it. When I do I always feel I'm letting my team down because I spend most of the game waiting to respawn. :(

I am a Demo main but yesterday i was like screw it i wanna play spy. I used the l'etranger, the big earner and the dead ringer and i obliterated the enemy team literally!

I was the sniper you backstabbed at 6:00 lol i remember username spy loudouts but I had no idea it was you. Big fan. I've actually been a spy main for 5 years lol so I feel embarrassed that I still suck. In that moment you killed me I was using the cleaners carbine and I was actually getting a lot of hits and kills which is hilarious knowing that you stopped my momentum haha

I've been watching Mr P's videos long before I sub as I'm stuck as a 'Red Light, Green Light' spy and I want to do more than just waiting and jumping in when my targets are busy engaging my team mates. Aww, that failed Medic stab in the beginning was such a robbery. My personal favorite Spy loadout is definitely the diamondback, cloak & dagger., and the Spycicle. I use my diamondback enough that the spycicle's melting doesn't effect me too much. When a Pyro is after me I just put a few crits in them and then switch to the spycicle if I need an extinguish. The Sarahan Spy with stock watch is another favorite of mine though. I love the new YER a lot. I loved the old one too, but if there was an aggressive Engineer building outside and teammates that wouldn't leave their side, it just wasn't possible to run the YER because there was no way to backstab anyone without the sentry targeting you first. Now, the YER is a viable option in any situation.

yep, it was also fun to wear a lot of my regular items when doing this video, but because I was jumping from server to server so often looking for the situations I wanted to show in the clips the games did not degenerate into a MrP fest hehe

Mr. P, I thought this was a great video. :) One question: Why do you call the l'etranger "the stranger"? It is in french in the game as well as for everyone else. Thanks, keep up the good videos

because french speaking players who have different accents could never agree on how I should pronounce it because each of their accents being french or french canadian would make them different from each other also. So I converted the name to match my native language and still preserve its meaning as I can not get my own accent wrong.

Thanks for all the solid advice, Mr P! In the current Pyro-dense meta, I like running the L'Etranger, Spycicle, and the Dead Ringer. This works against any class but is primarily focused on picking off a succession of Pyros, especially if they cluster or work together. I pop the Dead Ringer first if I'm lit, then make a run for it and pop the Spycicle if I'm still on fire. Once I've broken contact, the L'Etranger can help me stay cloaked long enough to make it to cover, and then possibly recover cloak by taking pot-shots at weakened or oblivious targets. It's surprising how often a random 25-damage shot is just ignored by other players. Obviously this kit is not a whole lot of good in a fair fight, but if I'm in a fair fight as a Spy, something has gone terribly wrong.

main problem vs pyros with this is that if they melt the spycicle you are pew pewing them with the weakest gun. Consider going a stock knife to still give you the option of a trickstab.... kunai if you are very skilled and want to cheese the pyros off...

That is quite the good point. I admit I'm not confident enough in my gameplay as Spy to play more aggressively, so my playstyle tends to include a surplus of escape options. I like the extended cloak from the L'Etranger, but perhaps I should switch it up to stock or Diamondback in case things really do go downhill fast, like they tend to around so many Pyros. Thanks for giving me more food for thought!

People say the stranger is for spies that cant manage cloak but when im running from ammo spawn to ammo spawn and theyre all gone or covered by enemies im always so glad i equiped it

I love using the stock knife invisible watch stranger and stock sapper it’s just in my opinion something for staying safe and having fun with

I really like your L'etranger/Big Earner/DR combo since you suggested it in the previous vid. I've been using it with the Diamondback instead of L'etranger, though---I find that I can usually pull off a good chainstab and then DR away from the consequences. Then, while I wait for my ringer to return, the Diamondback crits leave me with serious firepower to defend myself if I'm caught with no DR.

My solid load out is the stranger, spy-cicle (named Mr. Freeze) Invis Watch and Sapper. Sort of an anti-pyro roaming spy where you can get pretty aggressive in pushing and roaming.

Here are several of my Spy loadouts - The Unseen - L'Etranger+Yer+C&D+Sapper - my most used loadout. Played right, the enemy will never see you coming. The Cloak Vampire - L'Etranger+Big Earner+Cloack and dagger - living the invisible life yo. The Terror - Diamondback + Spycicle + C&D/Stock + Sapper - used to terrify the enemy. Leaving ice statues for fear mongering, with Diamondback crit shots in the killfeed terrifying them as well. Icicle to make you surveve more, giving a vibe of unstoppable terror hunting them.

One interesting thing about the recorder: If you place it on a building that's being redeployed, it instantly delevels it to whatever level the building was at while it was deploying. Edit to clarify: Buildings that are being redeployed start out at level one and then build themselves back up to the level they were at when picked up. You can see this for yourself as an engineer by moving a level 3 gun and then wrench boosting it. When it starts to play the upgrade animation any hits during that time will play the higher pitched sound that lets you know your hit had no effect, just like it would during a normal upgrade. Also if the enemy team is clever, they can counter the deleveled teleporter strategy by temporarily switching to engineer to level the actual engineer's porter before switching back.

This video caught me off guard never seen you so serious about spy gameplay

Couple of opinion questions for you! 1.Strafe aiming(u do no flicks) 2.Survival set(Letranger,cicle,dr) 3.BUTTERKNIVES when an enemy gamer is low 4.Gunspy(its quite fun)

1. I'm old and my hands are no longer stready, I find straffe aims help me with that. 2. its ok but before you could do that with one or two shots with the stranger after the enemy sees you. now you have to put several shots on the enemy at range to be safe... its ok but not as strong as it once was. Look instead at the building inspector for survival. 3. shoot an enemy player that is low, unless its a razorback and you want to cheese him from the front. 4. yes, but not as effective.

MrPaladin You are old, so aiming might be quite hard sometimes and it’s easier to do, so why not willy nilly walk in someone’s face and poke them maybe 2 times. (Everybody knows how fun it is)

for an "overall" training set I usualy use : Diamond black : for the reward of any "spy" play Kunai : forsing to learn to stay out of sight/check while providing help for bail out post stab. cloak and dager : to learn overall cloak managment while keeping the "joker" to stay cloaked learning when taking oportunity

You say a use for RTR is for eureka effect tele exits with no entrances, however the eureka effect can teleport to an exit even while it is being sapped
