How a Spy Thinks #71 [Favorite Loadout]
Ойындар
G'day all MrPaladin here.
Today I played a few rounds with my favorite loadout on various maps getting some nice killstreaks and fast fun series of kills. [Kunai, InvisWatch, L'etranger, Sapper]
I talk about why this set of items are my favorite to play with but also why they are not exactly the "best" to play with. Meta is often determined by working with your team on set tactics to spike the damage as much as possible. But in more casual games having the option to move around freely and stab at targets of opportunity keep me happy as a spy.
All footage was taken within a few hours yesterday... as per usual.

This has always been my favorite spy loadout too. It’s just the perfect storm of knifespy weapons, but even then you can gun someone down if you need to. I love how the weapons synergise with one another, and they cover each other’s flaws.
1:35 top ten anime betrayals
If you take an ambassador and your aim is perfect, you're still only getting about 5 extra DPS over the revolver, to be honest. Even at its peak, ambassador would only barely edge out revolver on DPS point-blank. It shined in long range, but now since that's not an option, it's pretty hot garbage and you'd be better sticking to revolver for gunspy, sadly.
@owenarchibald5469
5 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure even at point blank the revolver is better.
@OmegaRC59
5 жыл бұрын
You've got it a little backwards. The Revolver beats out the Amby in point blank by a good margin, and maintains similar DPS until you're near the edge of the Amby's headshotting range (although one headshot and a bodyshot or butterknife will take down light classes faster than stock, until you reach the 150 health margin). Pretty much, the Amby's only worth it if you're going to shoot people at the very limit of that range, where it's dealing ~52 damage. That's so oddly specific that it's not really worth running, even for burst damage since stock shoots fairly quickly and can get 120 or slightly less at point blank range in 2 shots, instead of 102 from one headshot.
@darthplagueis13
5 жыл бұрын
Diamondback maybe? Easily beats the amby in terms of dps and also is more viable at long ranges. Of course you need to back it up with good knifeplay to store up your critz but full-on gunspy isn't viable anyways.
@OmegaRC59
5 жыл бұрын
Not only that, but keep in mind it doesn't have a fire rate downside, so it's better at bodyshotting than the Amby as well. By all means the Diamondback is the best revolver right now, its only real downside that can make a big difference is the fact that you can't 3 shot medics without either being at full damage ramp-up or without a crit.

The Spy loadout I can’t get enough of and love to death is simply the Vanilla Spy loadout. People will go for their Ambassador’s and Dead Ringer’s but I like to keep it simple and use the Stock Revolver, Knife and Invis Watch to remind us of a simpler time back in 2007 where there was no Jarate, no Degreaser and most importantly no hats.

6:46 that poor pro sniper. You've been giving him a hard time ever since the first round.
19:37 “…And you win the map, or you lose the map, it doesn’t matter, just do your best at spy.” I have never seen anyone who plays with such chill, staying calm on a super fast godlike, complementing the enemies, not bragging, or raging about deaths to random crits, just… a dude who plays spy and has fun doing it.
Hi Mr Paladin. I've been watching your videos long time ago and I have to say that I really improve my Spy skills since I returned play tf2 some months ago. Thanks to much

I didn't realise how much fun spy actually is untill I started watching this series Thanks for making me a better spy!
“Good Deadpool, bad deadpool” -MrPaladin, when seeing a person
Thank you Mr.P for getting me into playing spy with this video. It really changed the way I looked at spy as a whole. So thank you for that.
Hm...it would seem the main thing I learn from your videos is: Take risks, don't second guess yourself. If you do nothing gets done, but most importantly; have fun.
“Ooh nice shot.” Who else compliments the enemy? WHO?!
'Tasty Target'
Because of your videos I have greatly improved as a spy. I used to not get any kills whatsoever but now I can get a good amount. I guess I'm a pretty okay spy rather than dead weight. If it wasn't for your videos I don't think I could have improved as much as I had. Thank you very much Mr.P
Why, when I play a spy, everything I have to deal with is only a tryhard soldiers, scouts who do not do anything but only looking for а spy and a paranoid team which is turns every 2 seconds instead of 5. And when I watch your video, it's only you against the lemeng heavy army and f2p pyros. Can you make a video where you are solely against tryhards, and how to deal with them?

One_ Alone I don't mean to be rude, but I am positive that it is no coincidence that teams you play seem more spy aware. Mr Paladin has been playing for years, and his game sense is developed so he knows how players "spycheck" and how to better time his plays. Thus, he seems to be playing against not spy aware players, but in actuality he is just good enough to read their actions and the surroundings to make positive decisions based off of them.

A lot of it is about when and where you play the game. Get on process on a Saturday night around 10 in NA and you are going to get destroyed. Upward on a Wednesday afternoon in the summer is going to be cake because you will be playing against mostly kids. Also helps if you can pick and choose the games you put on youtube. MrPaladin is not uploading his most difficult games. But they seems to be pretty average games to me. Some new players some people with decent hats. Part of it is just avoiding the good players unless there are easy opportunities.

And at 14:47, we can hear the mating call of the elusive Paladin bird. The mating behavior of the Paladin is quite odd, as you can see. When it mates, it looks quite similar to a backstab, and it does indeed look like the heavy it attempts to woo dies horribly, as it screams what scientists call a “domination sound”. Thank you for going on this nature walk.

Hey Mr. P, I would just like to drop a thank you comment for everything. Thank you for all these educational videos for TF2, especially for the spy. When I picked up spy for the first time a long long time ago, I knew he would be my least favorite class. When I discovered you at first I saw how spy could play out. I've been watching all your spy videos since then and I've been improving from every video. I watch from beginning to end. Present day I've learned how a spy thinks, how to help my team, how to help the objective, how to stalk, how to blend in, and I've been pulling off more trickstabs then ever. You're like a personal teacher to me and I would really like to thank you for helping me in this game. Thank you so much Mr. P!!
