I just deleted secondary cats and mufflers. Sounds almost the same if not better. Not too loud either.

Thank you for sharing! i just purchased an '04 SL55 and am looking to do the same exact mods, though i see more videos of it done with the E55/ CL55 so it's hard to find what an exact sound will be with the SL but this definitely helps considering they share the same engine. while i love the deep, "rumbly" noise that the stock exhaust has, im definitely looking to increase the sound such as in this video, but I figured a muffler delete would be too loud if I were to use as a daily driver. So far i've seen this combo of mods with the 5.4L V8 seems to be my taste, opens up the sound while adding a real throaty sound, but without being too loud / unrefined. 😁 Quick question, what brand of X pipe did you use for this, and are you planning on doing any fly-by videos??

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed! Please subscribe if I brought any value, I wouldn’t do a muffler delete. Too loud for my liking. Just a 2.5” x-pipe I found on eBay for $30. Enjoy the SL! Much appreciated thanks for watching! I had the 05 CL55 for a few years and it’s my absolute favorite car I ever owned just gotta be careful with the ABC suspension, biggest weak point. Love the 10-13 CL63’s they look a lot newer but the 63’s aren’t as reliable as the 55’s. Biggest thing with the 63’s are the head bolt issues, and you can make way more power out of the 55’s for cheap. Both great cars if they’re maintained correctly!

Time for a new battery

for my volvo s80 v8, they have a secondary cats, rn i have a resonator delete and magnaflow mufflers but it has so much more potential, should i just put a x pipe in place of the 2nd cats? or just delete them completely? what will allow it to be more raspy and allow more airflow

X pipe will be raspier than H pipe or straight thru. X should make more HP , H for torque

If your actually looking to have the best sounds AMG get a Borla or Corsa

really don't see anyone running those... guarantee the C63 or E63 mufflers sound better if you want loud

sounds way better than my XJR

yo so my shop told me the secondary cats on my s55 were resonators because they were hollow. were your secondaries hollow ?

They could be, mine were intact. But on a different S class I parted out the secondary’s were hollow. Sometimes from a lot of miles or age they disintegrate inside and get hollow. They’re not worth much regardless, but it’s possible for them to get hollow.

I talked to a cat buyer and he said that technically they are cats but don't contain as much precious metals as the primary cats so they don't bother purchasing them. so they're not totally hollow inside but maybe they're less dense than the primary cats, just making a guess...
