Best Snorkel Beach in Kona, Hawaii
While we were on the Big Island of Hawaii, we were in the town of Kona and looking for a great snorkeling spot. In our estimation, Kona is the one port in Hawaii, where you don't need an excursion. There's a lot to do right there in the village. After meeting Danny B at Boos Frogs, he gave us a great beach to visit with a shallow coral reef for easy snorkeling right from the beach. We took the Kona Trolley, a free transportation system that runs once an hour down to Kahalu'u Beach. I spent a couple hours in the water and got exceptional footage of various fish, and two eels. Watch your time, as the Trolley is often running late by the end of the day
While in Kona, you've got great shopping right across the street from the port, and there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars as well. All beaches in Hawaii are public and there is a good one just as you exit the tender port. It is part of a resort, but open to everyone.

Jenn does a lot of snorkeling, and this was an awesome snorkeling spot straight off the beach over a very shallow reef. The diversity of wildlife was amazing.

We’ve done quite a bit of diving (and snorkeling) in your country too. Tangalooma Wrecks off Moreton Island was one of Jenn’s favorite places.

Jenn’s world is under water. We couldn’t believe the rich diversity of marine life that was right off the beach. She got a new camera (DJI Action) which replaced her old GoPro. We thought it did a stunning job!
Loved seeing your underwater footage. Liked learning about the trolley system and seeing where your snorkeled at.
