Hello (Im also in Singapore). Another use for the corkscrew is to use it to form an anchor point. Screw it into a suitable anchor and tie paracord around it. It can also be used to store a little tinder even with the mini screwdriver in it. Less for urban EDC but for outdoor pursuits.

Thanks for sharing! As a fellow Urban Knife guy (Amsterdam, Old-West), you might be interested to know that I like to pair the Sportsman with the little screwdriver in the corkscrew with a (discontinued) Midnite Manager. I find any of the 91 MM knives just a couple of millimeters tall of being comfortable to EDC. I've tried EDC-ing a Climber but it's just a little too bulky to sit in my pocket or on my belt all day. This Midnite-Sports-Manager combo gives me a usefull size blade on the Sportsman as well as a secondary smaller blade on the MM. The Sportsman lives on my belt I like to carry it clipped to my belt with a simple hair-tie with a ring that fits nicely around the top end of the knife looped at the end of it. The ring at the end of the bungee lanyard is looped between my belt and my jeans, so to keep my pocket clear. Simple, but verry effective. The reamer/Awl on the Sportsman makes for an excellent self defence weapon, Just in case. Once you are done fending off the badguys, you can use the excellent newer nailfile. It is really good. I like it much better than the old stippled one. The midnite manager lives on my keychain, and contains a usefull pair of small scissors and Phillipshead screwdriver (top tip: try using it in conjunction with the Leatherman Bitdriver, it works wonderfully!), a small pen and a light. Cheers, Stay Sharp!

My goto EDC SAK has been the Super Tinker. My favorite thinner SAKs are the Compact, and the Pioneer X Alox. I wish they’d make the Super Tinker with Alox Scales as I use the Philips, the Hook, the Awl. If I want a small knife without tools I prefer a SOG old Flash I or Twitch II. That said. If I'm wearing a ScotteVest, or carrying a shoulder bag or backpack, I'll have a Swiss Champ or a an Evolution (Grip) 557. While I appreciate minimalism, I rather be more well prepared.

I like your Bantam with the black nylon scales, never seen one of those before! But the alox version is quite a bit thinner in comparison, alox scales are slimmer. Funnily enough the first 2 models you showed as not being slim SAKs, I consider on the thinner side of my SAK EDC options, at least in medium size. I also quite often EDC the Swisschamp, or the Farmer X sometimes. The slimmest SAK I own is the 74mm Moneyclip which is 8mm thick. Sometimes I carry that with a Spyderco to provide the missing scissors and a backup people friendly blade for out in public.

The nail file on the Cadet is a missed opportunity IMO. Instead of a nail file, I'd rather have other tools in this order: 1) Phillips head screwdriver, awl, short blade. Maybe scissors after that. I find that I need to address about 8 or 10 Phillips head screws for every flathead screw that needs my attention. Therefore, the Phillips head screwdriver is pretty high on my priority list, and the large flathead screwdriver has little appeal. The selections that you picked have so few useful tools for me personally, that I'd rather go with a "real" folding knife that has a pocket clip, locking blade, a higher grade of steel, and a more useful blade geometry. Then I'd fall back on a multi-tool like the Super Leatherman or the Wave that had more, and better screwdrivers, a file, and a saw. Knife size and features are virtually unregulated in Texas, so I can easily mix and match various edged tools to match my needs. But apparently, more robust pocket knives that are actually useful for self defense aren't allowed in many countries, so I can see the appeal to some for carrying any of the three tools that you featured. Swiss Army Knives have always seemed a bit more like toys than tools to me. But I've been binge watching videos about SAKs lately, and I decided to try one out. So I just bought the Hiker to try out to see if the Swiss Army Knife concept works for me. The Hiker is one layer thicker then any of your choices, and that is probably just enough to stop some folks from carrying it EDC in "Town clothes" or casual dress clothes. I saw the Spartan mentioned in many comments below. The Hiker and The Spartan are virtually the same, except the Hiker has a Phillips head screwdriver in place of the corkscrew. Given everything that the corkscrew can do, in addition to opening wine bottles, that's an understandable calI. I got The Hiker as a go between for my Fallkniven S1 and Leatherman Super Tool, both of which are usually in my pack. Given the choice, I'd almost trade the SAK saw for scissors, since the Leatherman has a good saw blade and Victornox makes very good scissors. Best regards!
