@@bapy5958 Tom had the two best singers on his team so he had to pick one, he chose the younger one of the two. ether one could have won and the one he chose won the competition, you can see her at the end of this video. it's a shame, if only she had come the year before.

She doesn't need a coach...she just needs a producer!

Always the same reason: to old, not the prettiest one. She would have lost even when she was Aretha Franklin....The winners of those talentshows are always young, nice persons with sad stories....they don't surch for talents, they only want us to look til the end and sell as much merchandise as possible.

I suspect these talent shows choose the 2nd-best whom they feel need the help, whereas the very best will make it anyway which is why the judges don’t choose them.. See also in the case of Sally Barker (or Susan Boyle)

it’s not necessarily good for the singer to win the competition. with her talent all she really needed was the exposure the show affords. she’ll do just fine.

Rachel's voice reminds me of Roberta Flack ... a sound that has been missing on the airwaves for a few decades - sadly! It's a sound that takes maturity and skill. Rachel has both in spades! She will make her own career and god speed to her!

@@effie3798 I agree. I actually prefer looking at a natural human as opposed to anyone else too. She has substance and natural talent and worked to hone that ability and I would be more invested in her than in others. I'm not the demographic they're shooting for though.

Talent like this isn't appreciated anymore. Which is a shame, because as a Gen-Xer I was listening to the music stars of my grandparents' and parents' eras. If you really like music, you have to move beyond just being entertained. This woman has a Roberta Flack vibe about her. Absolutely fantastic.

Absolutely stunning voice. The first time I heard Rachel, I couldn’t believe how much she reminded me of Gladys Knight. There are levels to singing and Rachel’s vocals are upper tier. If only people voted or went with what their ears tell them, there is no way on this earth Rachel wouldn’t have won that competition. Easily the best voice I’ve heard on the voice and X factor combined. I hope she releases an album in the very near future.

Rachel is supposed to be an icon superstar. She belongs with the greats like Gladys Knights, Stephanie mills, Dionne Warwicks etc…

I am a singer and I was told I was really good but never had confidence... so I understand those feelings... this beautiful lady could fill up an empty soul with the light of her voice!! This woman's control of her instrument is off the charts and shows a maturity of experience that the others didn't have. A truly great voice. I hope she is not lost to the industry.

I Love Rachel Modest. She has a beautiful strong voice and I Love her sweet personality, She has it all.

What a beautiful soul. She CAN sing. That brought tears to my eyes.

No way Tom left her in the semi-finals. A great singer is the one who shake your emotions but at the same time, makes you feel in a state of grace. Rachel achived that on me; because she has a gift from God.

I have never heard this artist before..Nina is an all time favorite..this woman completely captivated me I began singing ballads at the age of 12..I Have always loved ballads this lady simply floored me .I am 73 years old yet singing only when the mood strikes..she makes me want to come out of retirement 😊 Bravo soar high my sister.. hats off to Nina Simone for composing this beautiful song.

I thought 1:48 when he woke up that he needed to hit the buzzer then saw a sweet aunt singing, he just couldn't help but smile. It was kind of cute and endearing. Love that lady.

That lady has soul. It’s in her work with children. She exudes gospel, what a voice. There’s the basis for an album I’d put on and not have to skip a tune, and yes, I’d pay to go and hear her.

Rachel IS IT she's been anointed by god with her gift. Another star is born no doubt about it.

I feel that Rachel should have won the tournament. At any other time, she would have won, but it just so happened that there was a younger woman who also had a great voice, and I think youth and beauty won out in the end. But out of the two voices, Rachel's was the better voice.

Jonathan , That hurt my heart too because the focus on outward beauty is nothing to do with the voice or inward beauty and that discrimination is prevalent in every aspect of life . Blind Auditions are only blind until the first judge turns around and other judge's see the disappointment on the faces of those who turned .

@Jonathan, we all should keep in mind that this is a tvgame, by a large financial group which is intending to earn the more money they can. The main goal for the winner (meaning for Endemol) is to sell tickets and make views online... So of course, Sir Tom and all other judges receive instructions!

This woman's gifted. I haven't heard anyone sing this song since Glory Lynn is beautiful, just beautiful!

Whatever she sings… the moment she opens her mouth and starts singing, she feels it, sings right from her heart and makes every song to her own… she got me! LOVE HER ❤
