Best Shop Flooring | Dream Shop Ep7

I partnered with The Home Depot to put an awesome floor from Husky down in the shop! It installed quickly and offers everything you'd want in a shop floor: oil and chemical resistance, some cushion for tool drops, looks great, and REALLY helped cut down on the echo in the shop! Great looking floor! My stepson is putting a work out room in his basement and bought some real thick rubber mat to put down in case he drops the weights. He brought some over to have me help him cut it down into 4" strips. We cut 6 of the 8 strips with a razor knife before we thought about using the band saw. It took us over an hour, but would have only taken about 10 minutes had we used to band saw to begin with. LOL

    Roller knee pads/blades are also useful. Hopefully you used some hearing protection- all that mallet pounding and echoing. For such a big job you could have used a tamper- like that for soil and gravel. Saves on the knees and back. Looks great! Good job!

  • @YouCanMakeThisToo

    @YouCanMakeThisToo

    3 жыл бұрын

    Ohh, never thought about using my tamper. Not a bad idea. Some the tabs are finicky and there can be some adjusting the tiles as you get them going on so not sure if that would've really worked or not.

  • @zafarsyed6437

    @zafarsyed6437

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@YouCanMakeThisToo Doh! Didn't think of the tabs being too problematic. Figured that "persuasion" from brute force would knock them in, but you're right- not adjusting as you go along might ruin the tile or adjoining tiles.

    Why did you choose the vinyl flooring over other methods? Did you consider condensation between the concrete and the new flooring? By the way it does look great!!

  • @YouCanMakeThisToo

    @YouCanMakeThisToo

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! It's "vented" on the underside so air and moisture can move pretty freely, doesn't really trap it. Also, with my dual 18,000 BTU mini splits.. the environment is going to stay pretty stable, there won't be much fluctuations causing condensation. Also, it provides the protection I want, helps with sound a ton, is easy to install, and if something gets damaged.. easy to swap a tile.

    Have you tried sweeping up sawdust? Will the bumps mess up the bristles doing their job? Had the cushion mats in my shop and got rid of them because the broom would “grab” the foam mat and not slide across. I know yours are hard, not cushion like, but is there a difference?
