The default length for an imported image is very short (only about a second or so from what i remember). For when i wanna render a video with a song + static image, it makes it kind of annoying having to zoom in so much and lengthening it. I like to set the default to at least 1 minute to prevent that. I forget where it is exactly but it’s in the preferences!

For vertical scrolling I’ve got it set to zoom when over the audio files and vertical scroll only when over the track controls. Not sure how I did that but it’s great. No modifiers! Just more your cursor over and scroll away. Same for horizontal scroll in the mixer. Scroll over the track controls and it goes.

Hello Alejandro 👋 Love all your tutorial videos as they are straight to the point and the way you edit your videos looks so good. I noticed when you right clicked on the midi item to get rid of looping. I noticed at the top you have a button that says " audio to midi" is this a SWS extension? Do you have a video explaining that? Let me know when you get a chance! Keep up the great work! Thanks a lot🙂

Oooo I can make a video about it on the second channel soon! Basically you can adjust any right click menu in the same menu you'd edit your toolbars. You can add actions/scripts/custom action. In this case I'm running a custom action that is a bit complicated but it transforms audio to midi. I can go over it soon!

Very useful, I'll be using most of these: probably keep MIDI note editing as-is: though accidental clicks moving the play head also annoys me, I'm used to the other aspects of it. Swapping the zoom & scroll controls for the item pane makes a lot of sense to me too, as does disabling item looping, though my workflow for creating MIDI items is usually to create markers for start of sections, then create time selections between each pair of markers. Then when inserting the MIDI item it is automatically sized to that time selection.

I got your PDF on customizing Reaper 7 (which is great, btw), but it didn't show little things like how your media pool is set up and how you were able to quickly load in those drum loops, or the VU meter you have over on upper right-hand side. Or do you have other videos that show that? If so, I need to keep digging.

Something I have in Ableton and I don't know if it's possible in Reaper (if there's something that's not possible haha). I like that in Ableton I can select a part of an audio, and using the keyboard's keyboard to move it to the right or left in transients, making as little movement as possible, this helps me when I'm working. Do you know how I can do it?

@@rano12321 I know this function, but it's not exactly how I would like it, for example, in native reaper, I need to hold ALT, select the region with the right mouse button, press a shortcut to cut this selected region (cut only the ends of the selection, just beginning and end, without disappearing with the rest of the audio), click with the arrow keys to move forward or backward on transients. In Ableton I simply select (without needing to press any key on the keyboard), and press arrows on the keyboard (NUMPAD does) to move in transients, the workflow is very good for working on specific audio quantizations. I really wish I could do this in Reaper with the same convenience. I would be grateful if you could explain to me how to do it.

Hi! Im already using your amazing Reaper Theme and i already said few times that is the best Theme i saw until now. So thank you for that! But i still want to change something and i hope you will help me with this and who knows, maybe add it in your next Reaper Theme update too by default. So i want very badly to change all Reaper Windows color to have same dark color as in your Interface Theme. Windows like ... - The Title Bar (the top Bar where we have Reaper Menu Options like File, Edit, View, etc) - Extended Track FXs Window: (where we see in the left all FXs added on the Track as a list and in the right, the selected FX is opened into an FX Window); - Track FX Window (simple): (is the window in which is opened only the selcted FX when we press on the FX buttons from TP); - All Rea Plugins Interfaces: (ReaEQ, ReaFIR, ReaComp, ReaXcomp, ReaDelay, ReaGate, ReaControlMIDI, etc) - Preferences Window; - If its posible, the entire Menu Color Or maybe you can make a detailed tutorial video about this. 😄😉

Another thing that bothers me when you want to click & drag an item to change its size, you have to be very precise with the mouse! Is that something you can change in preferences or is that something you change on your OS? I hope I explain that well enough. Thanks in advance 🙂

Great and useful adjustments my friend. Although I'm getting one small problem ... at 9:56 you explain how to remove the chosen nortes from the piano roll by pressin anywhere on the grid, and by holding down SHIFT, the notes should disappear ... but this doesn't work for me?

@@philjames1019 Sorry for the confusion! In that part of the video you mentioned, I talk about *unselecting* notes, not deleting notes. To delete a note, you select them and press the delete key. Or double click on each note. Or hold alt and use the eraser to delete the notes.

Super useful. Playing with Reaper for only a day or so and would have binned it if I had not found your vid. I may do anyway as I do not find anything intuitive in the UI. But because of your vid I will stay with it for a while, struggling to do the most basic things and try and see the shocking track lane color/brightness when another track is selected. This maybe just defaults but unusable, and a blur of a mess that really is awful. I used to play with Cakewalk which seems to be rated nowhere near to Reaper, but from my playing so far is far more useable. I am really disappointed that everything I seem to want to achieve is a mountain of menu wade throughs. To be honest, I'm totally lost and just don't get the hype of Reaper right now. Thks for your vids I guess they have saved a good few other users to stick with it.

hey! it's totally okay and understandable. I highly encourage you to use whatever just *clicks* to you. REAPER is certainly not for everybody, it does take some time and patience, but there are far more friendlier DAWs out there you can try out. Good luck in your journey!

What's the problem with auto fade? You can make the fade time much shorter and put the cut a bit before the transient. To my taste this is a very useful feature and should not be disabled.

  • @Reapertips

Definitely useful! I find most times it just messes with my editing workflow. I may be finely chopping breakbeats and all these autofades just get in the way. So I like to disable it and just do it manually if I see it necessary

I can't even use Reaper right now. I need to create a track that has drums in it, and I'm using Steven Slate Drums. The window is so big I can't even go to the bottom to bus things out. This isn't the only plugin that is too big to adjust all the settings. I can't find a solution to this problem.

Aw, this happens with some plug-ins that are just so big. Maybe change your display resolution temporarily. Adjust the size of the plugin and most plug-ins remember the size. Lemme know how it goes!
