A year too late but is it ever late to improve? :) Drill it as you would use it ingame and the accuracy will come. Don't be afraid of spending hours in the gy,m / court. Step in all directions before the shot and see how it affects you. In time you will have a go to direction, then work on a second one.

Wondering if you shorter guards (like below 6') use side steps or combine it with something different to create enough space vs taller defenders. I have a bit of trouble using it.

My go to combo is aggressive drive to my right, snatch back to my left hand, hard dribble side step to my left. I'm 5'9 so I've found that unless they are already giving up a little bit of space in the first place, I have to add a jab or fake a drive and step back to get a shot up over taller people. Either that or I do my best Curry impression and run around like crazy. Have to also show you can score in the paint first or else people assume your just a shooter cause your shorter and play up on you from the get go.

What's amazing to me everyone acts like this is sum kind of eccentric move and it's not . Yet the defense is played so bad in the NBA .
