    I got to try this on with the nato strap and the colors are insanely beautiful. I agree - the colors are chocolatey and rich, and It doesn’t come across as fauxtina like the BB58. Interesting point about the writing on the dial. On my latest model blue dial you hardly see some of the text! Unfortunately 2020 isn’t a $9k seamaster kind of year...maybe 2021??

    Absolutely loved this watch the first time I saw it, I don’t see faux patina at all the creamy colour matches the dark brown tropical dial. Also I never liked the wave dial pattern on the other versions. Personally for the price I think omega could at least supply the nato strap as well. First class review my friend 👍

    Awesome watch, you were right on your assessment regarding the arrow on the watch, it’s called a Broad arrow and was produced for Britain’s Ministry of Defense...watches with that arrow at that time were considered British Government Property...

    The arrow on the dial at 6' is called the " broad arrow" and is a symbol applied to most of the gear issued to military personal by the british ministry of defense. Not particularly related to special forces, present on many watches issued during WW2.

    Favorite Bond is Brosnan. Favorite movie is GoldenEye. Bought the watch last week - they even took 1k off since I paid cash. Love my Pams and my Ennebi but fell in love with this watch a while ago. The mesh strap is just epic. Also the Omega AD always treated me with respect every time I went to look. Rolex always treated me like crap. Thinking of getting an extra strap from the AD and then getting a used 42 mm seamaster to wear more often since I really don't want to wear this watch too much.

Besides my favourite Omega is the Aqua Terra although I did like the previous generation rifle barrel dial with the 007 second counterweight. It think I agree with you on Pearce although Daniel gives him a good run for his money.

    The bezel is titanium however the bezle insert is aluminium. This (aluminium and not ceramic) is so that it will fade together with the dial which is also aluminium. This aluminium is treated to be much tougher than normal aluminium usedin watches.

    Bezel action is incorrect. They should have looked at hamtun. I have owned 3 hamtun titanium divers and the ygot progressively better over time. the newest h2 kraken is the best because its done properly with a 60 click ball bearing mechanism instead of the cheaper ratcheting spring. Mine is superb and tight with no pack play. I love the domed saphire crystal, oris do it with the 65 diver. The arrow signifies uk military issue. 007 George Lazenby.

    As much as I love the look of this and the color way, it does seem a bit crazy to be double the price, but that lumed bezel is a amazing. Great review as always. Companies like Smiths and now I see Omega are using that arrow, which is a bit of a fraud, since this was an official symbol of the British military and as much as we love Bond, he isn’t actually a member of the British armed forces

  • @defrev

    @defrev

    Not a fraud. The British MOD gave Omega special permission to use it (Broad Arrow Pheon) due to their very long relationship with Omega (including during actual wars), and their mutually beneficial relationship with the Bond movie franchise. The MOD obviously thought the watch was worthy of it.

    I think Omega is trying to upscale their watches. They know many are ticked off with Rolex not being able to get what they want in sports models without having to jump through hoops like buying jewelry and other stuff from the AD they don't really want in order for them to sell a watch to you and it could take years. I have not looked in quite some time as I don't have money to buy nice watches right now. I remember seeing some of the older seamasters probably from the late 1990's going for 2000 USD and to me, they look very similar. It is hard to say my favorite James Bond. I liked them all. Sean Connery I would say is up there as I was young he was the James bond as well as Roger Moore. All of them were great actors in my opinion.

    Wow ! I just checked the pricing, on the 300 diver,on my go to pre-owned site,and the 300 diver,which I've owned for about 3,or 4, months,is selling for a few hundred dollars more pre-owned, than I payed new,grey market. The truth is,I'm not overly impressed with my watch as a dive tool. I live on my sailboat ,and dive frequently . The lum is poor,and nonexistent on the bezel. I have a 40 year old Seiko Turtle 6309-7049, I got in 1984,and a Tag Aqua -Racer, quartz, that I'm not fond of,but are better dive watches. Guess I'll give it to my son,and get another Seiko, since I'm 60,I figure, if I last another 15 years, it'll serve me better for my lifestyle. I've always admired Omega, but this watch, the 300 diver,sorta like the Specter version, doesn't live up to my requirements. Still a nice watch, but it's a beast. Capt.Bob, SV 27th Chance, Tampa Fl.

    The arrow is called the 'broad arrow' (or 'crow's foot) and dates back to King Richard III in the 1300's, but is most known as a marking used by the British Government by numerous departments over time, particularly the Ministry of defence. Its use on this Omega is somewhat 'faux' and would actually put me off buying it, personally.

    To me it's just another cheesy Bond watch. I own the PO2500C 45.5, same as the one Daniel Craig wore in the 2006 film Casino Royale. Not a single mention of Bond or MOD on the watch, then again I bought it in 2005. I like mine because I find it beautiful not because it was featured in the movie. The moment you write anything related to Bond on a watch, it's not cool anymore. it's trying too hard. A watch should be self sufficient. Not need for a fictitious character on it.

    Not a fan! For me it’s Omega trying too hard in yet another novelty! Clearly they understand the growing interest in vintage military watches - hence the faux patina (yuk!) and the crows foot (why would a secret agent wear openly a military issue watch????!!!) - going titanium (Pelagos is the clear winner in titanium dive watches!) and a mesh bracelet (cue Breitling Heritage) really teally turns me off (but then i dive with a REAL British military issue dive watch - the CWC SBS which also have natural patina!)
